We used Patton's Moving to move us 15 minutes away from our current house. The move was today - May 22, 2026. Their employee, Tyler, came to our house and looked over everything we had to move and gave us a price of $1750 to move 2 beds (frame and mattresses), 2 nightstands, 8 dressers, a washer and dryer, and 1 mirror and a small chest freezer. We also had another quote for $1200 from a competing company. I told Tyler, the estimator, that the other price was $1200 and he said, "let me see what I can do" and then offered to do the job "all in at $1425.". All we had to do was leave our $200 deposit & we'd get a call from scheduling. The price fair and we shook his hand and left the $200 deposit. A few days passed, and no one had called to schedule a time for the move. We called them yesterday, the day before the move, to see when the movers would arrive. They told us that our time was between 8 AM and 9 AM. They arrived around 8:30 today. We met the movers -Carlos, the lead mover, Juan, and Jesner. The gentlemen were just awesome. They were professional, hard working, excellent at making sure our items were placed where we wanted them, and they were so kind. They are the only positive part of Patton Moving. When they finished the job, Carlos provided us a bill for almost $2300. We explained to him that Tyler had quoted $1425 for everything. To get this fixed, we needed to call the office. The owner was so incredibly rude and argumentative. He told us that quotes are "just ideas" and he demanded payment. We explained that there was absolutely no information, spoken or written, that covered this. We reiterated that Tyler told us that we were "all in at $1425..." and shook Tyler's hand. The owner remained belligerent and started telling us that the movers didn't have lunch and had to walk 36 steps to get into our house and it took longer than expected to move us and to pay him. He was extremely unprofessional and treated us as if it was OUR fault that their employee lied to us and misquoted the job. We are the customer and Tyler had ample opportunity to walk our home, see our furniture, and provide us with a price. Tyler demonstrated that either he is awful at quoting jobs, or he is awful at it AND he engages in what I believe are devious business practices. The owner must also engage in these devious practices as he did not listen to a word we said. Tyler did us wrong when he lowered our price just to get the job. He told us "all in" it was $1425.00. He said nothing about mileage, additional hours, or that your "quote" was floating. Never in my life have I had a "floating" quote for moving. He walked through our house with us, gave us a price, and we shook hands. I felt horrible for the gentleman who did our physical moving for us. They were just awesome. Patton Moving does not deserve to have such good people working for them. I'd hire all three of them to work for me any day! My husband agreed to split the difference with them, and yes, we did get screwed over. Legally, we didn't have to pay it. I would've preferred to see them in court than pay a company that sends people out to give low ball quotes with nothing else disclosed, then bills them frivolously and fraudulently. My husband just wanted an end to the stress so he paid - although now he regrets that. We paid more that "splitting the difference" because they also didn't credit our $200 deposit. I'll be contacting them about this and will update my review. Another tactic. Incredible. As a business owner, I would be mortified if a customer walked away misled, baited, and lied to. Tyler - you should be fired. To the owner, you should too. To Carlos, Juan, and Jesner. Thank you. - the owner replied to my review and said that there were "things that were not disclosed" in the walk through that made our final bill higher. Tyler was in my house and saw everything that needed to be moved. We told him about the other house re: location and where furniture would go. The owners reply our blame on me for a bad quote and he said that there was extreme distance for the movers to go from the truck to the house. This simply isn't true. He also said my husband was rude when he called to talk about the bill. My husband was not at all rude. From the moment the owner picked up the phone, he was aggressive and my husband called him out on his rudeness which made the owner even more aggressive. This company is not one with integrity and I cannot believe what we experienced from the shady tactics to the treatment from the rude owner and his lies. Buyer beware. What I've written is the truth. This company failed at providing an accurate quote, provided not 1 small print sentence regarding additional billing, they refused to be accountable, and both Tyler and the owner were incredibly unprofessional. read more

My parents, who are 78 and 76 years old, hired Patton's to move a five bedroom house from Warrenton to their new house in Front Royal, 38 miles away. The original non-binding estimate was $7430. The final price that my father paid them was $24,436. First he had to pay $15,000, which was required of him at the old house on-the-spot, before the trucks would move. Then Patton's refused to unload two of the three trucks at their new house until they paid thousands of dollars more. The extra payment demanded for the release of the second truck was $3,000. My father paid it and got it the following day. The demand for the third truck was $6400. My father was out of money to pay that, so after later signing a promissory note, the third truck was released on May 8, eight days after the move. All of this included an extra $3650 for storage fees and an extra $1300 for loading goods back into the truck for final delivery. Their bed was in one of the trucks that Patton's wouldn't release, so they spent their first night in their new house trying to sleep on chairs. -------- Below are more details, some of which is opinion. To put it concisely, it was a nightmare for them for this to be done to them, and I was concerned about them having a heart attack, and I did what I could, but my father didn't want me to call the company or even the police, because he was afraid they would retaliate, and maybe demand $8,000 for each of the last two trucks. So that communicates some of the feeling of the situation. I called the Sheriff anyway, and called a lawyer, and was told that it came down to a property dispute, and contract law, and since there was no binding contract, they could do nothing. But I learned that there is an agency that deals with moves and protecting citizens--The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. In one of their documents: "Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move (2013 Update)" it says "Under a non-binding estimate, the mover cannot require you to pay more than 110 percent of the original estimate at the time of delivery...The mover will bill you for any remaining charges after 30 days from delivery...If your mover does not relinquish possession, the mover is holding your shipment hostage in violation of Federal law" (FMCSA doc, p 5-6.) And it says, "If your mover refuses to deliver your shipment unless you pay an amount the mover is not entitled to charge - contact FMCSA immediately at (888) 368-7238" (p 20). I called the number and they couldn't do anything, and nothing was illegal, because no state line was crossed. Which seems ridiculous. Are the laws there to protect state lines, or to protect people? But that's what it is. My conclusion and opinion is that the movers made a big, although honest, mistake on the estimate and it should have been about twice the original. And the original estimate depended on my parents packing basically everything, and my guess is they probably only packed a quarter of it all, and should have asked for more in the quote. Patton's charged about $6700 for packing. Seems very high to me, but, fine. Up to that point there were just mistakes and high costs. Nothing was personal to that point. But the other things made it personal, and made it reflect personally on the people involved. As far as the quote's accuracy, Patton's told me that during the visit for the estimate, my father told them the stuff in the garage (which was completely full) wasn't going. But what he said was the cabinets on one of the walls would not be going; only the stuff in them. On the quote it says "Nothing being moved on right wall of garage." So the quote reflected a slight miscommunication about that wall, but it also proved that the man never said "don't move the garage." I was also told that what happened later wasn't that Patton's wouldn't release the trucks without more payment, it was that my parents said they didn't want the second two trucks unloaded yet. So I asked for comment from my parents and they told me it was ridiculous and that they said nothing of the kind. If we had legal standing to sue, we would, and for accountability, not from revenge or hatred. And if Patton's ever apologized and admitted any wrong to my parents, I might even take all reviews down, even after the stress and lost sleep and the bitter taste this has left with all of us, and the $24k bill on a $7k estimate and the thousands of dollars I gave my parents to help pay for this. But there has been nothing but refusal to take any accountability by them. And, I don't like to say this, but I feel it's my duty to my family: I think the people at Patton's have no honor. They blamed someone else for their mistakes. And they did so mercilessly. Patton's provided us with the services we needed to move from Loudoun to Frederick County. We had difficulty finding a new property to relocate to and had to be out of our previous property by a set date and needed a mover that could store our furniture and several of our large garaged power tools until we found a suitable home. We had a lot of large nice furniture that was heavy and required some disassembly before moving along with some older antiques. We planned to pack all the smaller items and the majority of our artwork ourselves, but did ask them to pack some heavier framed glass art and mirrors. Their estimate was based on that premise. We moved out of a one story large ranch and ended up moving into a three story house. We did know where the furniture would need to be placed in the new place, but with a crew of several guys, furniture that looked similar when wrapped for storage and three floors being done at the same time, it was a big job. Everyone worked well together (Taylor's team) and they helped us successfully move items that we were no longer capable of moving ourselves. They had not been able to move our professional sized pool table for us, but they were willing to adjust the bill and we made other arrangements. The ability to handle our Henredon and Bernhardt furniture along with a fire safe and all the power tools that we could not put in other storage units set them apart from other movers. We thought their price was very reasonable for the service provided and everyone we dealt with was very considerate and helpful. They were great about placing items where you wanted them! We knew we had accumulated a lot of small possessions that we needed to go through ourselves because it would cost a lot for any mover to do that. We did it, but it was hard time-consuming work and not everyone can handle that and the stress of house hunting. Moving is very difficult and no two moves are alike, we were glad they were there making it happen to get us safely moved. If we move again, we will use them again and maybe have them move more of the boxes too! And yes, we had downsized-but when you don't move for decades, you forget just how much work is involved. It is a challenging process for both parties, but they worked with us when we came across an unexpected problem and we were glad our realtor had recommended them. If I could give 0 stars I would. Of the 4 movers I contacted, Pattons Movers was the most expensive but I went with them because they assured me that they would wrap my furniture to prevent damage to my furniture and walls. They did wrap my furniture in the house during the move out but they didnt show the same care when moving into my new house. They unwrapped furniture before bringing it into the house. As a result, furniture was damaged including deep scratches on my $10K China Hutch, desk, bookcases, and curio cabinet. Walls were marred and gouged in the drywall of one bedroom and all along the stairway and hallway. Weatherstripping of front door was gouged. They lost hardware to my bookcases and bedframe. Even though I had offered them baggies to put the hardware in for safe keeping, they declined and lost it anyway. They also overcharged me $585 for an unneeded 2nd truck and "5th man". All of my furniture fit easily in the 1st truck. While they did send $285 as a compromise for being overcharged, they still have not sent me compensation for the damage to my house and the lost hardware 4 months later. I am unsure if they even have insurance even though they claimed to before I signed the contract. I would recommend if anyone hires them to get proof of insurance and also expect to have the price jacked up at least 20% over the original quote/estimate. In hindsight I would have been better off going with one of the less expensive companies and probably had a better experience. read more

We had used Patton's back at the end of May to move three large items from our downstairs to our upstairs and were very happy with them at that time so we booked them again to move these items back downstairs. We were told they'd be there at 8am today and by 9 we called when no one had showed and no phone calls. We were told they had a morning meeting that ran over and they would be there soon. We continued to wait and at 945 started calling back and kept getting voicemail repeatedly. I ended up going on Facebook messenger to try to get a hold of someone and they answered there pretty quickly. Whomever I spoke to on there said they would do the move for free as I asked if we could get some kind of discount considering we were at 2 hrs now waiting for them to show up. Mind you they are moving three larger items from my upstairs to my downstairs so it isn't a large move and will likely take them less than an hr to complete. While I was speaking to this person on messenger, my fiance had gotten through to the general manager at the office and patched me in to the phone call. She proceeded to be rather unapologetic about them being two hours late and said 'we had a meeting, things happen.' She also proceeded to refuse to discount the $300 price at all. She said we could pay $300 or find another company to move us. I told her I would still like them to move the items and I'll pay $300 but that we are definitely not happy with their service at this point (as I think most people would say at a company acting this way). She then proceeded to tell us that they are canceling our move. I guess because she did not like that I said I wasn't happy that they were refusing any type of discount after one person said they would. Mind you they were moving THREE items from my upstairs to my downstairs which would probably take them less than an hr and we had waited 2 hrs and it was going to be 1030 before they could get to us so 2.5 hrs late now. At this point on the phone I hung up because she had canceled us and I had nothing else to say to her. I guess my fiance replied to whatever comment she made with F off so the person who had messaged me before on Facebook messaged again and said something about people cussing out their staff. There was no cussing out any staff. He was very frustrated after waiting two hours and her complete lack of apology and proceeding to cancel our move he was understandably frustrated as most people would be. I'm sure she has heard worse. This company should really work on their customer service. Maybe just a bad day or bad week but we won't ever recommend them after today and not even based on their lateness. That would be understandable if they had called and kept us informed but if you're not willing to keep your customers happy and offer something for our time then that's just not good business practices. I would have happily accepted a $50 discount or even just a sincere apology at that point but nothing at all and to be unapologetic about it and to cancel our move too. Just awful business. My cousin contacted Patton's movers to have a chest of my grandmothers shipped to me. This was in April of 2022. I paid the $2,000.00 to have the chest shipped on 4/18/2022. Patton's movers accepted the payment to ship the chest. I have sent 15 emails and called 10 times. Each time I called I was told they would call me back. I have yet to receive a phone call. Used Patton's Movers May 2022. There literally are not enough words to thank Jason and his crew for helping us move. From the estimate through completion, they all constantly went above and beyond. The estimate given was extremely reasonable (and I had called 7 other companies, large and small). The crew showed up on time, was professional and respectful of all our belongings, carefully took apart furniture (beds, etc.), wrapped & packed everything with great care, and drove carefully and ensured not a single item was broken, dented, etc., as well as taking great care to not ding walls/furniture. When we got to the new house, they unloaded everything in record speed, ensuring everything went into the correct rooms, putting together the furniture, and even moving around things when I wasn't certain where it should go. We had an issue (10000% on OUR end, NOT on the crew) and they were incredible--Jason--the owner--jumped in and was working alongside the crew to ensure everything was handled. Patton's moved the contents of my home into storage about 3 weeks ago. From the consultation to the actual move, I was impressed. Gerald gave me a very reasonable price--firm, not an estimate--that was HALF the amount another, widely used company quoted me. Jason did a great job on the 2 moving days (one to pack, one to unload), and his team was positive, polite and helpful. There was one mishap--a dresser was dropped and two legs came off. But the workers came to find me, showed me what had happened, were very apologetic and open, and promised to have it repaired by morning. Fine by me. Accidents happen, and I was grateful for their honesty. I will absolutely have Patton's bid on our move to our new house once it is built, and I'll write a follow up review on the storage unit packing job they did. But the first chapter of our painfully slow move was great, and I'm impressed. So far, so good! read more
