The movers arrived right on time, were very professional, and were very careful with our things. Now the bad: they were exceptionally slow. I have moved twice before with the exact same amount of total items/furniture using different movers and it took them about 1.5hrs total for the entire move. I hired Local Motion for 2 hours and it ended up taking them 8 hours. While there was a small delay of 30 minutes due to no fault of their own, their sluggishness was unacceptable. They took every single item one at a time. They had 2 movers with 2 big wooden furniture 4 wheeled moving dollies, but they only ever used one. I don't know why they couldn't go twice as fast taking 2 boxes at a time. Then to top it all off, we all left my old apartment at 1:28pm, they said they would take a lunch and meet us back at my new place in an hour. No problem. They showed up an hour later and took another ~2.5 hours to unload everything. When it came time to pay they said "oh we actually didn't take a lunch" unfortunately I wasn't there when we paid them, but they absolutely took an hour lunch and took advantage of my wife when she paid. I went back to my Yelp reviews and decided to contact Mount Wolfe. I messaged the company and shortly heard back from Dwayne. I told him what I needed (it wasn't a huge amount of stuff - not too hard of a local move.) He gave me a quote almost immediately and it was a firm set price. The price included what most movers charged extra for - tax, mileage, fuel surcharge and many more items that could take a reasonable rate into something sky high. We added a few pieces to my original inventory list and let Dwayne know, expecting an increase in price. Once again, Dwayne reiterated that this is a flat rate. We finally had a tentative release date, by now we were only a few days out. Dwayne was so very flexible for us. Then we found out there was a move in "window" that we had to fall into. Once again, Dwayne changed our time to fit our schedule. In fact, the day of, they even came earlier to make sure we met the window. They arrived in a big uhaul which made us a little quizzical but if you think about over head costs, for a small business, it might be a more cost effective way of controlling overhead. Whatever, it did the job. I stayed back, cleaned a little, ran a few errands and got to our drop of site. I was maybe 45 minutes behind and when I got there they were just about done emptying the truck. (They squeezed right through that window.). My brother had taken everything apart at home but all three of them got everything put back together, placed where we wanted it (with a few "maybe over there, wait, no over there..." adjustments.) And like that, the move had been made. Nothing broken, scratched or missing. All the wrapping undone and taken away. Just like Dwayne promised, nothing additional. No surprises. Though it was by far the smallest move I've ever overseen, it was by a stretch the easiest one. I will use Mount Wolfe anytime I have to make a move. They really were the best.

Indeed, they worked diligently and cleaned up each time they visited. The first round of work, both of them came; the second and third times, just Onya came to and she was super friendly and worked quietly while I worked in the office. I didn't paint the repairs immediately because of a lack of time, but once I did, I was disappointed with how the work turned out. I contacted Yevhenii again and sent him pictures. Communication was great and he came out to look and offered to either refund the money paid and for someone else to do the work or he (and his wife) would try again. I allowed them to come back and Onya worked for hours to redo most of the work. Again, carefully, quietly, and working with my schedule. Yevhenii came to check on things and also wanted to do some of the painting to see how the repairs looked. One area in one of the bathrooms looks pretty good but the kitchen and the other bathroom looks terrible, as evidenced by the pictures. I recontacted Yevhenii and he offered a $200 refund which I accepted. There was the original price of the job and, in consideration of the friendliness that the couple offered and the six visits they made, I felt was worth a $100 tip. In the end, I had drywall dust to clean up throughout the condo on multiple days and the results look amateurish. I'm still not sure why this is so hard to do and do reasonably well. I'm not looking for taj mahal-lile work but the pictures, I think, speak for themselves. I'm sure Yevhenii does great work, as evidenced by other positive reviews and pictures, but this project was a fail.

He had the finishing caps to cover the entry and exit holes too. Carlos and the crew also took a very personal interest in mounting my career memorabilia (22 plaques and awards!) beautifully in my home office. And they are undaunted by "oddball" stuff like mounting clips for a tapestry in my media room to cover unsightly electrical panels. He explained everything along the way, to include the parts that were missing (luckily it was only a few screws that he had in his tool box), how to work the bed, and which mattress would be the best for that bed (based on the instructions given). I had started the job myself but got an anchor screw stuck and figured I should have a pro step in so I didn't wreck my new walls. All the supplies were here, placed where they needed to be, holes were measured and marked for custom made rods and drapes. He charges by the hour and moves very, very slow. He didn't have his own step ladder or anchor screws. In the first hour, he managed to put in 3 screws in holes that had already been marked. He claimed he "needed to remeasure" and that's why it took so long, but he used the holes that I had already marked. He also said it was too hard to do with custom cut rods. He also said it wasn't his fault because I had an anchor screw stuck in the wall already, which was the whole reason I hired him. This is what pros do: they come prepared, know the required materials and techniques, and advise the customer on the best way to proceed. I knew we needed to cut it off when he asked me how to use an anchor screw. He didn't know if you needed to pre-drill or not for a very basic and common anchor. I cannot imagine a professional handyman not knowing that. He used a level to stare at the pre-marked holes for what seemed like an eternity, just eating up time. 3 screws = $200. Seems like a nice enough man, but handyman may not be the profession for him, and that's giving him the benefit of the doubt that he wasn't just trying to take advantage of someone he assumed was too naive too know how long the job should take. He became very defensive, making excuses when I said we'd need to end the job at one hour. Im sure judging by other less than 5 star reviews here (that I really wish I'd have taken the time to read) he will post a very defensive response here as well. Please just don't take a job you don't have the required expertise to complete, and I don't want to hear defensive excuses when I'm still out $200 for almost no work completed.
