I had a fantastic experience with Patriot Tile and the owner, Shawn. From the very beginning when I first met him, I could tell he was the right guy for the job. He clearly knows his craft and took the time to explain things, which immediately gave me confidence that my bathroom project was in good hands. Shawn is extremely professional and a great communicator. One thing I really appreciated is that he focuses on one project at a time, so he can give it his full attention. Because of that, the work moved along efficiently and everything was done carefully and correctly. His attention to detail really stood out. If something wasn't exactly right, he didn't hesitate to redo it until it met his standards. It's rare to find someone who takes that much pride in their work. Overall it was a great experience from start to finish, and I'm very happy with how my bathroom turned out. I would absolutely recommend Patriot Tile and Shawn to anyone looking for quality tile work and bathroom remodel read more

Patriot Tile and Remodel did an absolutely fantastic job on both of our bathrooms. We were so impressed by their attention to every detail. Also Shawn's insight, experience, and integrity really shined when it came to executing our vision. His team executed our job cheerfully and with great respect for our things and our neighbors. All the mitered corners, tricky spacing, challenging alignment, and product advice (despite my exhaustive research) produced two flawless and beautiful bathrooms we can be proud to share. Patriot accomplished it all in three weeks, without surprises to our budget or nerves. We listened, we trusted, and we are so happy! Kitchen next... read more

We had such a great experience with Shawn and his crew! They were on time every single day, communicated clearly throughout the whole process, and even finished our bathroom a day ahead of schedule. The team was incredibly clean and respectful, they picked up after themselves daily, so it barely felt like we were living through a renovation. Shawn's partner, Derek, was awesome too and so kind, both of them are true professionals who clearly take pride in their work. The attention to detail and quality of craftsmanship are amazing. We absolutely love how our bathroom turned out! We'd 100% use them again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for reliable, skilled, and courteous contractors read more

Shawn and his team did an excellent job on our bathroom remodel. Our original primary bathroom was really small so we wanted to expand into the washer and dryer room behind the existing shower. Shawn came to the house, provided quote options, and was transparent about project start time and duration. Our project was completed within 3 weeks and Shawn and his team went above and beyond, tearing up any water damaged floor and drywall, rerouting plumbing and the ugly cleanout we had behind the toilet beforehand. Definitely happy with his work and will be using him for our next remodel. read more

I was referred to Patriot Tile after Shawn and his team remodeled my parent's master bathroom. He is booked out a bit so be patient. It is well worth any wait. Shawn met with us and helped us plan out both bathrooms. He was transparent and gave great suggestions. He is not "cheap" but is very fairly priced. He is very knowledgeable and meticulous. Both jobs were completed on time and I am beyond happy with the results. Absolutely beautiful, quality work. I have since recommended him to several friends...... Now I just need to save for a kitchen remodel :) read more

Just had Shawn (and son) demo our guest bathroom and install a new tub, shower tile and floor tile with new tub/shower fixtures. Once we had all of our materials on hand (tub, tile, fixtures) Shawn started work on a Tuesday and was finished by Saturday morning. Shawn's operation is very clean and efficient, during the demo he setup his shopvac outside with a hose running to the bathroom to keep noise levels down, he put down paper on the flooring and was sure to vacuum up dust and debris at the end of each day. The finished product was very neat and clean with straight and flush lines and he even took a cloth and alcohol to wipe down all surfaces once he was done. Throughout the whole job Shawn was very friendly and communicative, answering any questions he had and offering constructive input when needed. Highly recommend. read more

Sean and his team were great to work with! I had a bathroom leak that caused my master bathroom to be fully gutted. I reached out to Sean after dealing with several flaky contractors. We were hosting my daughter's graduation party in a month and were so stressed about the state of our home. Sean's schedule was tight but he was able to fit me within a few weeks and promised me he would have it done before my daughter's party. He was able to come in to budget and we actually had money left over to do some upgrades. Sean and his team worked nonstop to get my bathroom completed in time and it turned out beautiful. Sean's attention to detail is amazing and his work shows that. Sean, Derek, and Nate were all so great. They were a joy to have around our house for a couple weeks and I told them I was going to miss having them around. I appreciate Sean and his team for coming through for us and we will definitely use them again in the future! read more

To be fair this review is only for the lack of communication and failure to deliver estimates as stated. They did not do any work for us. Initially communicated on yelp for an estimate. We made arrangements and they showed up as promised. Came by on a Wednesday and looked at the potential job we had and was told I'd have estimates ready before the weekend was over....that didn't happen. That following week I sent a text for an update and said I'd get it by the following day.... that didn't happen. Next day I got another text saying I'd have an estimate before the nights over... again that didn't happen. I cannot speak for the quality of their work since they did not take on our project, however based on the multiple times we were left waiting for updates we've decided to use another contractor. Hope this helps! read more

Our master bathroom shower had seen better days. Its lovely beige tile and pink grout (why!?) boasted mold that just wouldn't quit no matter how hard we scrubbed. Our friends had recently remodeled their bathroom, and we couldn't believe how clean, modern and pristine it felt walking in to see it. "Who'd you guys use?!" I inquired. "This guy Shawn, with Patriot Tile & Remodel. He's so great," my friend replied. THIS. This was what we needed. So, I called Shawn and requested a quote. From the beginning, he was kind and responsive and he followed through on everything he promised. The work started on time and was well-paced throughout. The tile workers he employs are chill guys who showed up on time every day and did a great job. We were so pleased with their progress each day. As we were finishing up, we didn't like one part of how the tile was laid out. We told Shawn and he jumped at the opportunity to redo it, even coming onsite himself to see it through. Even with the last-minute changeup, the work finished ahead of schedule! Honestly, choosing the tile at the tile store was the most painful part of the whole project. Now, we have a gorgeous new master bath shower that we love using. Thank you, Shawn! read more

Shawn is now our GO-TO contractor for all of our home projects. His work ethic, professionalism, and attention to detail are truly amazing. My husband and I remodeled our guest bathroom with a majority of the project being accomplished by Shawn. Originally, he was only contracted to do herringbone marble floors, a beautiful tiled shower with a niche, raised shower plumbing and replacement of our tub (which Shawn helped us out a ton when the tub we bought on our own came with a crack in it, he went and replaced it for us), ALL of which turned out beautifully, but turned out we needed him for a lot more. When we found our vanity was not matching up with the plumbing in our wall, we had to call Shawn back out for his help. He ended up fixing our plumbing for our vanity, as well as installing the vanity, sinks and faucets! He did a truly FANTASTIC job. What would have been a 3-4 month project for my husband and I, turned into a week long project for Shawn. We received quotes from two other companies which were extremely over priced and did not even compare to the quality of work we received from Shawn. On top of all of that, Shawn ended up replacing a pedestal sink faucet (not an easy task if you've never tried it) for us in our 1/2 bath, which is something we had been needing to do for months. Whatever your project, I HIGHLY recommend Shawn. Hands down one of the best people we have had the pleasure of working with. At the end of the day, he's GREAT at his job and a great person (which you definitely don't always find in a contractor). read more

Shawn and his team recently completed a top to bottom remodel of the only bathroom in our house while working around some vintage tile that we wanted to save. They went out of their way to make sure we could stay in the house during the remodel, reconnecting the plumbing every night and working through the weekend to minimize the impact to us. The project turned out phenomenal. Shaun made helpful suggestions along the way to improve the look which turned out great. He also took on a few side plumbing protects at a very reasonable rate that really helped us out. Shaun's work is high quality and very affordable. He and his crew were clean, respectful and easy to have in the house. I highly recommend Patriot Tile. read more

What are the Characteristics of a Good Contractor? I hire a lot of contractors for various home improvement, remodeling & repairs. I do my research, background checks, licensing, BBB, Insurance, reviews & interviews. Finally, I come up with the best. This is why my contractors are often cream of the crop. In this case, I was not only looking for a good tile man but also for a good handyman. My handyman changed his line of work; therefore, I was in search of a new one. Below I will state the characteristics of a good contractor & then display Shawn Burns' qualifications to see how he stands up to the ideal contractor. Afterwards, I shall make my conclusion & release a verdict. * Ideal Contractor must be responsive to your call. * Shawn quickly responded to my Yelp Message & E-mail. * Ideal Contractor will come over & give a free estimate at a reasonable time period. * Shawn set an appointment early in the morning as I required, done his measurements & sent an e-mail with his estimate. * Ideal Contractor gives a reasonable estimate. * Shawn's estimate was reasonable. * Ideal Contractor comes to do the job within a reasonable time period. * Shawn came & done the job within a decent time period, considering the job was not an emergency. * Ideal Contractor makes sure that you are satisfied with the results & the price. * Shawn made sure that I was happy with the final results & price. * Ideal Contractor has a contractor's license, BBB, good background & fine reviews. * Shawn has all of them & is well qualified. * Ideal Contractor has sufficient experience. * Shawn has 30 years of experience. He looks young but he actually has 3 decades of experience! * Ideal Contractor is punctual. * Shawn is on time. When he says he will be there 8 AM, he means 8 AM. * Ideal Contractor is tidy, disciplined & organized. * Shawn works clean & has modern proper tools. * Ideal Contractor knows his stuff. * Shawn does not hand you nonsense. He tells you if he can do the job or not. If he can't do the job, he will refer you to someone; however, he knows a little bit of everything. Even though he is a tile man, yet he is perfectly familiar with plumbing, electrical & complete house remodeling. He is a general contractor. * Ideal Contractor guarantees his work. * Shawn stands by his word & work. * Ideal Contractor has reliable crew. * Shawn does all the small jobs himself & for the big jobs, he has a crew of 3 workers whom he has been working with forever. They are family & friends so they are trustworthy, know their stuff & will not ruin Shawn's reputation. Shawn quickly replaced part of my kitchen floor. He is detail oriented. He will be my new handyman for all of my small or midsize projects & repairs. I can speak with someone for 5 minutes & tell where they come from! As a journalist, I know my contractors & I can separate them from the wannabes. Allow me to quote myself: "What is the man's worth if his word means nothing?" (Ahreeman X) Shawn is a man of his word & he is surely worthy of being your contractor. I researched a great number of contractors, interviewed 6 & came up with Shawn. He passed my perfectionist taste & test. He surely has my seal of approval. read more

Shawn (and friend Derrick and Shawn's son) demo'd my existing shower and adjacent walls which had a slow water leak inside for years. Expertly cordoned off the master-bath with plastic to prevent dust/mold from entering the rest of the room/house. His work was Perfect! Told me what it would cost and how long. Finished on time and on budget with amazing results! Even re-built a plumbing fixture outside that desperately needed it but wasn't even part of the job. Shawn is without a doubt the best tile guy and best general contractor I've had to work at the house yet!! And my house is 45 years old. Many thanks!! Highly recommend and I intend to use again if/when needed. read more

This review is at least a year overdue (sorry Shawn! I am going to blame having the baby/taking care of the baby!!). Shawn remodeled one of our guest bathrooms from top to bottom in 2020 (see below for my rave review). I couldn't wait to have him back to do our fireplace. Shawn is so meticulous, funny, and upbeat. He's a great contractor and all-around person. I chose some high maintenance marble and he was so patient with me every step of the way and he did a wonderful job - of course. He even came back to install the gas cannon balls and burner pan. The fireplace looks awesome and my only regret is not doing it sooner. Shawn, we miss you and I'll be in touch soon with more projects now that the baby chaos is settling!!! read more

There's a lot of reservation about picking the right contractor for your needs out there. It's your hard earned money, and you want to get the most value and the best quality work. Enter Patriot Tile & Remodel. Pros: * Professional and very experienced. * Highest quality work and attention to detail. * Complete focus on your project. * Very competitive pricing (get some quotes before you begin to compare). * Will work to complete your project asap without cutting corners - Saturdays, longer hours, etc. * I think they like the Padres a lot. Cons: * They're a lean shop so you may have to wait your turn to get on their calendar, but the wait is worth it. * Not a design agency, so bring your own ideas - look around online at photos, go to San Diego Marble & Tile - they're good at guiding you with materials and having it match your birthstone/horoscope/feng shui. BUT, Shawn will let you know what's a good v bad idea, e.g. I want to put a pizza oven in my shower is probably not the best idea, and he'll try to guide you away from that. We couldn't be happier with our shower in the end. I asked Shawn for a 10 minute vacation experience when we use our shower, and they delivered! If and when we do our second bathroom shower, I know exactly who I'm calling and so should you: Shawn at Patriot Tile & Remodel. read more

Shawn did an absolutely amazing job on our complete Master Bathroom remodel in June of 2020 so this has turned into a long-term review to attest to the lasting quality of his work. Let me just say Shawn is a master craftsman, who is meticulous with his work and was able to deliver exceptional quality even meeting my excessive demands with high-end materials (look at that 1/16th of an inch spacing on that Porcelanosa tile and the linear drain!!!). Let me just say he delivered our dream! Shawn and Robert are true professionals--they were prompt, courteous, and transparent with every step of the process. They have the best tools to do precision work and the skills to deliver. Shawn was extremely conscientious, minimizing waste with our expensive materials and made sure to leave a tidy workspace thoroughly cleaning all traffic areas--every single day! We requested a quote from Shawn at Patriot Tile & Remodel and he was extremely prompt with getting back to us, came over to the house to look at the bathrooms then gave us a quote the next day. When we met him he was just one of those people you get a good feeling from. We had gotten quotes from 2 other contractors but Shawn's came back very competitive and when we decided to move forward with him he said "I'm in for you guys" and I knew we made the right choice. We got both our hallway and master bathrooms redone and they each took about a week. We wanted a shower shelf that ran the width of the wall but the framing behind didn't allow for a depth that would hold the shampoo and conditioner bottles. Fortunately Shawn had run into this issue with another project he had worked on so he was able to quickly recommend a solution and move forward without any delay. The result was spectacular! We also wanted a herringbone patterned floor using relatively small tiles but they were so patient and made sure every piece had a clean cut and looked perfect. The bathrooms both came out so beautifully but there were so many other details that made this process so smooth. We both trusted Shawn to be in our house while we were away at work. We also have 2 large Labradors that he was okay with having in the house gated off in the kitchen and came by periodically to give them love which seems silly but makes a huge difference to us. He also made sure to lay down a cloth tarp each day where they would be walking in and out of the house to keep their work area clean. After the projects were finished a piece of the shower hardware broke which was no fault of Shawn's. The manufacturer sent us a replacement part and he was willing to quickly come out and fix it for us. We are both so happy with the result of the bathrooms and all of our neighbors are jealous. We definitely plan to give Shawn a call again when we decide to move forward with the other projects we have. THANK YOU! read more

We had the main bathroom in our home totally remodeled by Shawn Burns and his staff, including a complete construction of a Roman tub/shower, and it is so impressive that every time I go in there I am amazed! We coordinated with him beforehand on the concept, the tile types and colors for the walls, the inset, and the floor. We also had the plumbing changed to raise the shower head for our tall son, recessed lighting installed, a new fan/light assembly with ducting, the wall outlet raised to accommodate the vanity, and the power box for the mirror overhead light raised for the new mirror and light assembly. The linoleum floor was replaced with thick wood-like tiles, and a new toilet was installed. Shawn and his staff were all very personable, hardworking, and professional and very considerate of the rest of the house and yard. Every day when they finished work for the day they cleaned up very well and put away all of their tools. We fully intend to have them replace all of the carpet in our home with wood-like tile, similar to those in the new bathroom as our next major project! read more
