I started off with a really good experience with Matt and Patriot Security. However, while closing my office in the area, I contacted Matt and asked him to discontinue my monthly service and the associated charges. He said "no problem", he would cancel my ongoing automatic payment, and I thought all was well. Well, 5 months later I see that the charges have continued and NUMEROUS calls and emails to him have gone unanswered. Granted, I should have noticed the charges on my bill sooner but at this point I can only assume one of two things, either Matt has passed away and is unable to return calls or he is intentionally avoiding returning my calls in an attempt to accrue as many erroneous payments as possible. I have no proof of this but my suspicion is that this is a side hustle for Matt and he just hopes to accumulate customers who pay a monthly fee (which he gets a percentage of) without having to actually do much ongoing customer service. At this point, my only options are to dispute the charges with the credit card company, post my bad experience with Matt and Patriot on social media, and possibly take him to small claims court. I would have much preferred Matt just call me back and handle the situation like a professional and a gentleman. Too bad. read more

Brought Matt back for 2nd time and spent thousands. He left my job after getting paid knowing that he needed to put covers for his wires he left exposed. Long story short, these covers don't exist because he encased my wires in a camera port that has no covers, therefore my wires stay exposed. To be begin with, the man who installed the system told me he would come to put up a yard sign bu he never scheduled a day to come so I called Matt but he told me he was grabbing a sandwich at the moment and would call me back later which he never did. Now I'm dealing with a power outrage in my neighborhood and no one including Matt is picking up my phone call. I got an email indicating that the monitor currently is low on battery and I cannot reach anyone at the company. I really regret getting home security. I've seen a lot of alarm systems and companies in my day. My family has always had a system and now I own a house I had to get one installed. There seems to be a lot of half-assed companies out there who just try and get that contract signed and that's it. The farthest from the truth with these guys. I exchanged about 30 emails with the owner, Leo, to get exactly what I needed. He was patient and very helpful; I got everything I needed and at a very reasonable cost. I got 2 outdoor motion activated cameras, an electronic lock which can be locked / unlocked from my phone, garage door sensor, and a sensor for a home safe. also the standard motion sensors, door and window sensors. I was able to get an install date and time to fit my busy work schedule, the installer, Jerod, was a great guy. He was diligent, quick working and we had some common interests and hobbies that we chit chatted about after he was done working. You can tell there's real passion in these guys hearts for security and surveillance I've recommended these guys to my folks, to my neighbors, and to some of my friends who live in LA. Two weeks ago my car got broken into and it freaked me out a little. I was worried it might happen again so I called Patriot Security. They did a great job with our CCTV camera system at my office and I wanted something similar at my house. I feel much safer that my surveillance cameras will not only detour someone from breaking in again but if they tried I will have now have it all on tape. They also installed a self monitoring home security system at an extremely low rate. I didn't even realized that was an option. My touch screen control panel will send me text messages if my front door is unlocked or locked. It will also let me know if my back gate is open. My dealings with Leo Johnson and their installer Jerod have been extremely professional. I work odd hours and they have always been very responsive whenever I needed something done. My husband and I purchased our first new home and had an alarm installed by Jerod. There are SO, SO many cool features that we had to choose from, things that I didn't even know an alarm system could do. Some of those additions we chose were and auto shut off of the A/C unit of there is a fire, auto locking of the doors when the alarm is set and an app to control everything when away from the house. Jerod was straight forward and very detailed, never felt a sales push, just pure honesty. He explained all the different options and let us select what we felt we needed and he recommended the products that would fulfill our needs. The install took a little over an hour and he made sure to give us a brief but thorough review on how to use the keypad and all the features. Unreliable. First Matt didn't show up on the day we agreed upon to install. Then the cameras weren't facing what I specifically explained I needed. Again he didn't come in to fix the camera when he said, only after I called and complained. Had an appointment with Matt last Thursday booked weeks in advance and surprise, he just blew me off without so much as an email. Ive emailed since and he hasn't repsonded. I recently had Patriot Security install a system in my new home, and I couldn't be happier. I've never had a security system before, but wanted to get one for the new house. I did all the research and quickly discovered that I didn't want to go with one of the nationally known companies. They typically are only interested in getting you hooked into a long term contract and install sub-par systems with less than ideal monitoring. The first "local" company I called was one of Patriot's competitors who also gets very high marks on Yelp. However, when they came out to survey my home I felt their pricing was way too high. I'm sure they're a very good alarm company as their reviews reflect it, but they were taking more of the "we need to sensor everything" approach and as a result I would have spent upwards of $1500 for my system. I contacted Patriot and exchanged a number of emails with the owner, Lou. He quoted me around $300 for everything I needed. I said ok and he had someone out to install my new system within a couple days. The installer was knowledgeable and professional. As I mentioned, the other company I contacted wanted to put sensors on every single window in my home, and also didn't want to install motion sensors in my home because they were afraid my cat might set them off. They wanted to install much more expensive glass break sensors instead. The Patriot installer went with the motion sensors and assured me there was no way my small cat would ever set those off, plus we didn't need all of the sensors that the other company wanted to install. I ended up with an equally effective system for a lot less money. One comment I should make about Patriot is their monthly monitoring fee is a bit higher than for some of the other alarm companies I looked into, but the rate is also locked in for life, so their higher rate might look very good 10 years down the road. They use Monitronics who is one of the better monitoring companies out there. I did have one accidental alarm trip when my daughter didn't get a door closed all the way and they were on my cell phone within 30 seconds. I've read that a lot of the monitoring companies take 2 or 3 minutes to respond. I would definitely recommend Patriot Security! read more

I switched my alarm system over from ADT to Patriot in July and have been extremely happy with the company and the service. Leo (one of the owners) helped me and was extremely professional and knowledgeable. He worked with me to pick the right system for me and didn't try to up-sell me on anything - in fact, he was very conscious of my needs and my budget. The system is amazing - I opted for a camera, door lock and glass break sensor. I can manage my door lock and alarm system (among other things) from my phone. Very happy with it - it's super easy to use too! The installer I worked with was also very professional. He was not someone that I was afraid to be home alone with - he was super friendly and very helpful as he explained how everything worked and answered all my questions. Sadly, the vast majority of companies that I spoke with had deceptive business practices (the word "shysters" comes to mind)... but the team at Patriot were the exact opposite... they were true professionals. The person I worked with (a nice guy named Jerod) was straight forward, told me how much everything would cost, and most importantly, provided me with exactly what I asked for at a fair price. No bait-and-switch. No games. Just honesty. (For the record, a few of the other companies I spoke with employed "scare tactics" to try and sell me things that I didn't want or need.) Jerod was friendly, professional, and most importantly, knowledgable. My calls and e-mails were promptly answered -- and he treated me with the same level of professional service both before and after I became a customer. We have had an alarm system in our Newport Beach home for decades, and although it seemed to work OK, its technology and features seemed behind the times. The old company said it could not provide anything newer, so we shopped around and found Leo at Patriot. I like dealing with a local company vs a national company for home security. They were honest with no pressure and we now have state of the art gear that works and is very easy to use. Communication with the company and its people is superb, and Jerrod was very careful in his installation (my home is newly remodeled and I am extremely picky about the appearance of things in and around my home.) Glitches were minor and quickly solved by Jerrod, who was great. All of my special requests were accommodated. Now I can control everything with my cell phone, iPad, or computer (if I want) or use the keypads on the wall. No more entering funky codes, ###,**** and stuff to do basic things like arming the system when an upstairs window is open. From Anywhere!!! The video feature rocks. The price was surprisingly reasonable, and although my monthly fee went up a little, I wont get dinged a couple hundred bucks for routine service calls if a sensor goes down and they have to come out. (I was spending about 3 or 4 hundred a year with the old company on "service calls". In the long run, it is less expensive at Patriot then with the other companies, and I get the personal touch. This is an update to an earlier review. I texted Matt 10/12/2020 on his cell and asked questions with attached pics. No response. I called the office number on 10/14/2020 Matt answered. I asked if he had time for few questions. He gave me less than two minutes and said he'd call back. Matt didn't call back. Wife called again on 10/16/2020 (also two minutes) and said he'd get back to her. He stated he'd locked himself out of his office and didn't have any access to computer. Matt has not answered any questions or returned any calls. It has now been almost a month. We are now having to remove all of Patriot's hardware, and having to reinvest in another security system. As a result of Matt not returning texts, returning phone calls or answering questions regarding malfunctioning security equipment we are back at square one. I would highly recommend you don't use Patriot Security. I have screen shots of my attempts to make contact with Matt on every occasion I listed above. I received excellent service from Patriot. Their evaluation was prompt and multiple options were offered. Through 2 amendments of the original proposal, I received exactly what I wanted. Their installation was timely, efficient and completed in several hours while I remained in the home. They went over operation of the system upon conclusion of the installation.
