Meh. Their pizza is your typical Greek style. Not a lot of flavor in the crust BUT the sauce is fine, they use a generous amount of cheese, they never skimp on the toppings, AND they have a pick-up drive thru. However their dough just sucks. I can get over places not using fresh dough, but the dough has tasted stale the last few times ordering and that is a deal breaker for me. They do have some highlights on their menu. Their popcorn chicken is BOMB and you get so much of it. The cheese raviolis are pretty good too. read more

I was visiting with friends in the area and decided to grab lunch here and bring home dinner. My review was based on a takeout order that traveled 2 hours to its destination. We ordered a small Hawaiian pizza and 2 meatball subs with onions and peppers. Order was ready on time and so easy to grab from the drive through! What a bonus if you have little ones or it's raining. This is typical New England pizza that had a great balance of cheese/toppings and sauce. Toppings were plentiful although I would have preferred fresh pineapple on the pizza. Crust was tasty and on the thick side. This did cause a few bites to be a little undercooked and have that raw dough taste. Overall it was a good pizza. The subs were eaten about 8 hours later after travel. They were excellent. Obviously not crispy toasted like they'd be in the store but just the right amount of sauce, cheese and peppers and onions. The bun was tasty and . Nothing was soggy later. The service for transaction was short but very friendly. The menu had many options for customizing your order and they offered gluten free crusts and rolls. I'd definitely go back. read more

Ordered a sub with Ham, Turkey, Lettuce, Onion, Light Mayo with Banana Peppers and I get one with Ham, Turkey, Lettuce. Where is the light mayo, onions, and banana peppers? Disappointed in the overall lack of appreciation for customers. After an order was picked up and brought home we realized we were missing some items . The owner admitted it was their fault but refused to deliver slightly outside normal delivery mileage to correct the issue. Simply inedible. Pizza tastes like it was cooked in the cardboard box. What's worse, the sauce is incredibly SUGARY. I know some people like really sweet pizza sauce, but even the smell of it is unpleasant and completely unappealing to me. I tried a few bites of the hamburger pizza, and just couldn't force myself to eat any more. We also decided to try the breadsticks. Turns out, those are NOT breadsticks. They are cheese and bread shaped like pizza that has been sliced into squares. However, this was the only thing that didn't have their sugary-sauce on it, so we were able to eat at least half of it before the cardboard flavoring became too much. This is the second time I've tried Patriot in 4 years, and the quality is as poor as I remembered from the first try. Last night got out of a town meeting late out here in the suburbs of MA. We thought about going to Taco Bell in Ayer but did not want to be disappointed with the quality AGAIN! We thought of Patriot and we are glad we did. They would be closing in 40 mins so we called ahead with our order. We got there 10 mins later just as out food was coming out. The eggplant sub was very good and the fries were red hot from the fryer fresh and plentiful. The place is clean and the staff is friendly. We will be back. read more

Don't order salads here... they're ALWAYS at least a day old for one, have literally nothing but lettuce and olives (not even a pepperoncini)... and asking for no tomatoes means they pick them out of a premade salad leaving all the seeds. Gross. read more

I placed an order online, I meant to place an order with the Gardner location, as soon as I realized it was this location (the wrong location) I called and asked if it was possible to cancel the order. the woman on the phone said "not a problem it happens all the time." I asked if she needed the card number it was charged to? and she said nope I was all set. I waited and waited, maybe i waited too long but still no refund. I stopped at Patriot Pizza & Subs (located next to Dunkin Donuts) in Townsend for a quick lunch break. I knew what I was going to order as I spotted a special on the front window for 3 Slices of Cheese Pizza for $3, a similar deal ($1 slices) to another pizza shop in the "central" part of town. I ordered 3 Cheese Pizza Slices for a mere $3 which were all set to go quickly. The good sized pizza slices were Greek style, which had a thin firm crust and crisp edges, topped with tomato sauce and lots of cheese (browned on top), making the pizza slices VERY GREASY. I needed a pile of paper napkins to soak up the excess grease before eating. After that, the pizza slices were pretty decent tasting and filling. read more

Truly it's not very good. People who rave about it have very low standards. Due to it's location, we've ordered from here a ton. The pizza is your standard basic boring tasteless crust greek pizza with heavy cheese and acidic sauce. They've really perfected the quantity they can produce here, but they forgot all about quality. Meh. Salads are always sad (see other reviews). The subs are very mediocre, and we've tried a lot. It pains me to have this place not improve as it's so close, but we just avoid it now. Staff is very personable and attentive. Love the historic photos of the area all over the walls. You can have full view of kitchen from ordering counter. The pizza is typical Greek style. Lots of thick bread and cheese. It is greasy as Greek pizza is. The chili was ok. It had chunks of tomato and onions. It needed more spices but I have an exciting palate to impress. The bread served with it was just a sub roll.....commercial.....not flavorful. I had the big Greek salad with chicken. It was an entire grilled chicken breast. I liked the salad. Sodas are free refills. They make fresh Otisspunkmeyer cookies every morning. The fish and chips are $10. At lunch pizza is by the slice. Bathrooms are spotless..as well as whole place. read more

WOW - this place is still great. I hadn't been to Patriot Pizza in years... at least 10 or so... and having just stopped in, I'd say they got BETTER. Probably 20 years ago, I used to be a regular, as a kid. My mother ran an outdoor survival course for high school kids in the nearby state forest, and my father and I would stop by on the last Friday night of the course to buy a few dozen pizzas and truck them into the woods via sled! I drive by here regularly, now, about once a week, and saw the store was remodeled and updated, but never stopped in. Until last week... First off - these guys have a DRIVE THRU. I've never seen anything other than Pizza Hut offer a drive thru - not even Dominoes does. Very, very cool. Second, the interior is BEAUTIFUL. What was once a run of the mill pizza joint now has tons of seating, and man is it nice. Beautiful wood tables, booths, and custom upholstery even - furniture tacks shaped like stars! Four modern TVs if that's your flavor. Good music playing. Overall, nicer than many "chain" restaurants (and I mean sit-down table service places, not fast food). Third... the pizza was as good as I recall. A bit more cheese and less sauce than most, clearly done pan style in the Greek-New England tradition, with just enough breadiness to the crust and brown on the top. Toppings were supplied in healthy portions and the price was just right. I tried the "bacon cheesy fries" as well and they had SO much real, delicious bacon - in hunks, not from strips. Delicious. Fourth, and probably just as important as the quality... the staff was really nice. The young woman at the counter was polite, professional, well groomed (rare for a New England pizza place - most look like recently paroled convicts), and put up with the nonsense of two dudes being dudes. The chef was on his game, and made some great food for us. There was even table service. AMAZING. I will be stopping by here once a week, now. It's settled. The fact is I can't get a pizza this GOOD in my home town, and I can't get even a BAD for Patriot's price. This is my second time THIS WEEK at this establishment. We are new to the surrounding area and stopped in on the way home from our new house. The staff is so kind and courteous. And for obvious high school/college students, that's a rarity now a days. First time we came we ordered a half cheese, half bacon cheeseburger pizza. Both were equally delicious. My five year old son liked it so much, he begged for it again today! Today we ordered half cheese, half chicken broccoli alfredo. Can we say YUM? Out of this world outstanding. Used to like the steak and cheese here but now it's disgusting. It used to be grilled fresh with melted cheese but now it's like the "steak" is sitting in hot water and they add cheese here and there that is clumpy and not melted. Fries ordered well done come limp, soggy and unsalted. It's like they don't even care anymore. Not to mention the jerk who yells at the employees a lot. Moving forward I will go elsewhere. Driving home from Worcester we were craving pizza. We stopped in and was impressed by the size of the place and the layout, very spacious and clean. The staff was ready to take our order. We had two slices of cheese and one slice of Greek. They also have a drive up widow for take out orders. The slices came out quick. I liked the Greek slices with the feta cheese mixed with the melted cheese topping it was good. The menu had the staples with subs, salads and dinners all reasonable priced. We also love the decor and tribute to veterans with a collage of pictures hanging on the wall. read more

It's a pizza shop, I'm not expecting Michelin star quality. Their pizza is great, their store hours are very convenient as I tend to be an early bird and appreciate that they are open at 10 AM. The in store options regarding desserts and drinks are excellent for a pizza shop. My wife and I thoroughly enjoy their salads and find them to be quite satisfying as a meal in an of them selves. read more

First they are open LATER than all the other pizza options where I live so bravo on that. Great food, the pizza was cooked perfectly. Soft and NOT overloaded with crust, the sauce I could define hints of basil and garlic and oregano, just perfect. NOW the Buffalo Wings, generously marinated in an amazing spicy but not too spicy, sauce and a unexpected amount of them filled me up with joy. Will be enjoying this food again! Patriot is my go to for pizza and calzones. It's that quick meal you can grab at their take out window (yes a drive thru for pizza) on any night of the week that is reasonably priced for a good value. Toppings are plentiful which is typically my biggest pet peeve of pizza places. One night their phones and website weren't working. we reached out on Facebook and the owner himself explained there was a power outage. I would have never imagined such a quick response. We will keep this as our regular pizza spot and enjoy that take out window more than I ever imagined. read more

Pretty bad experience ordering delivery tonight. We ate less than half of it and then threw it away. Pizza - Typical greasy pan pizza. Salad - I posted a picture of the buffalo chicken salad I received. For starters, the chicken wasn't buffalo at all. The salad came with old brown lettuce and lots of those big chunks of hard yellow lettuce. The veggies tasted like they'd been sitting out all day. Overall, NOT fresh. The atmosphere, seating area, cleanliness in the dining room and soda fountian options got the review up to 2 stars, however, below average otherwise. Ridiculously expensive sub shop. Calzone was dry, chicken parm sub was skimpy frozen chicken fingers that were rubbery, everything else was just okay at best. Staff were just going through motions. Frequently Patriot doesn't do one very important thing; listen to what the customer is ordering. I would say lately, we have experienced about a 50% accuracy rate when we order subs and wraps here. I've been going to this place since it first opened, and let me tell you, the food has started to go downhill in the past few years. I love the expansion they did, adding more seats for indoor dining as well as alcohol for people to purchase, but the food isn't as good as it used to be. I've had better pizza, salad, and appetizers at other pizza shops, the portions don't seem as big as they used to be, and the prices have gone way up, making the food overpriced. When I opened the cheeseburger sub it was in cardboard contained. Here laid a sub roll, 2 pieces of hamburger with some thing that resembled cheese with bbq sauce. It was gross!!! The fries were cold, the salad olives had pits in them and plot of salad and the jalapeno poppers were disgusting. I wasted that money on this crappy place. My girlfriend just brought home fish dinner. This is a treat for me because I like seafood we were recommended to Patriot Pizza. Well she didn't better she deep-fried a goldfish. This fish was over battered and under fished. I've seen less grease and oil on a Harley Davidson. And to add insult to injury she bought my son a chicken nugget dinner. Well the Nuggets more like breaded sawdust. And this is coming from a child that thinks McDonald's nuggets are good. My recommendation is if you want good food drive by for the money McDonald's is probably your better bet and that's not setting the bar all that high. Ordered 2 fish and chips in observance of lent and an chicken nugget kid meal for our son. So incredibly horrible. I go here all the time! I love the food. However tonight i called to get delivery. I was told 30min. It showed up an hour and 20min late and only after I called and asked why its taking so long. I was told its on its way. When I received my food it was ice cold and obviously got forgotten somehow. When I called to tell them I was frustrated they did not offer to make new food or at least comp my meal. Best thing of the whole situation was the delivery guy didn't even give me the option to tip.
