Tweedows variety, now known as "lake side" is absolutely trash now. We loved it when it was known…read moreas tweedows. but now with the new owner, and new employees (in which, most employees that have been hired lately, haven't been able to keep the job position due to poor management, unstable hours, unsanitary work conditions, poor moral, and for lack of better words- most of them are immature.) and all the unsettling issues i can visibly see within a 5-10minute stay, it's just not the place to go. which is sad because Ashburnham is such a small town; and there isn't much on that particular side of town either. the high tax paying residents deserve better. Their signature pizza dough went out the door with tweedows. now the food is bought frozen from market basket, and they still call it "fresh". But never mind that because the worst part of the kitchen is that its utterly filthy. I got the chance to peek behind the counter and there is sludge and bacteria colonies building up everywhere, disgusting. no wonder why the third time i went in and ordered food since the new ownership, we got food poisoning. I wish I would have seen the back before i ever ate there. both the pizza side and the market side can't keep up with their named hours, which is disappointing and unprofessional. It's pretty bad when the manager can't do math correctly never mind show up on time. Each of the employees who closed have mentioned short draws and trying to show the manager, but the manager apparently "knows how to balance draws" which is a bad attitude for someone who clearly can't. The current manager also brings his bird in during store hours which is disgusting too, that's a place of business and food there should not be animals pooping on the floor. and then the manager didn't even spray the area with any type of disinfectant or cleaner when his bird pooped. just wiped it with a paper towel and thought that was good enough, eww. speaking of employees they are always understaffed. and the employees that have been able to stay can't even keep their shifts. always call outs. a single employee in any business shouldn't be able to show up when they want every day or just take a day off every week when they feel like it. there should be a standard held. and then the couple good employees they did have got fired, because the younger kids can't stop the drama. and it got taken out poorly on the wrong people. it's a disgrace that if a younger persons can't take direct boundary talk or have someone simply suggest that hey this could better the business without dispute from the younger person. or the younger person then gossiping like its middle school to the other employees when there's in issue. what happen to respect and dignity and maturity. the health department should take a walk in there as well as the labor division seeing as the employees' who do work overtime aren't even being compensated correctly. All in all, this place needs some work, better management and clearly new owners. If an owner lets all this happen under his wing, then its only time before it gets shut down or sued. the whole place needs a reality check on how a business should be run. its only a matter of time......

I ordered the pesto, pepperoni, pineapple, pizza, or the PPP pizza. Normally, I don't go for specialty pizzas, but this one sounded like it might be pretty nice. I called on the phone to order and the woman who took my order was very nice, I told her was my first time getting food from them, and she said that the PPP pizza was a great choice. I have eaten a few slices so far, and I felt inclined to give a review, even before I finished eating it. The crust on the pizza is thin and the perfect amount of bite, the cheese blend is great, unfortunately, I can't speak on behalf of all the other different options, but this pizza that I ordered was really great; you can definitely tell that these people care about the product that they make, and that they are proud to serve it to people. It's always nice to know that a business with such kind employees is able to put out a great product like this, so I am happy to say I will definitely be back for more and people in this area should definitely give it a shot.

It comes with garlic bread (made from a sub roll that tasted old). The garlic bread would be a nice touch if it was fresh. The ziti was ok and the marinara was pretty good. The chicken tasted ok but I only got what could not have been more than half of a half of chicken breast--literally 4-6 bites. This was the absolutely smallest piece of chicken parm I have ever seen in my long lifetime of eating chicken parm. I was shocked when I opened the to go container (it was a standard black take out container--I put the fork in there to show how small the piece of chicken was). I attached a picture -- this was all that was in the order. I always have leftovers that I can eat for at least two meals when I order from anywhere else. Not this order -- not even 1 meal. Very disappointing to say the least and I won't ever order it there again. I would rather pay a little more and get some chicken with my ziti and marinara. Chicken parm is my go to dish and this was underwhelming to say the least. I do not recommend it.

Gardner Ale House at Moon Hill Brewing gave us a nice evening of good music, cold brews, good food,…read moredollar oysters! (Apr 2026). We came here to try out their Monday Blues, and happened on their Monday Buck-a-Shuck oysters! We found a long room with over 70 seats set up at tables for four that looked combine-able, about 20 seats at the bar and at 2-seat hightops, both rooms with a wall of windows. The band set up in the bar window, but sit where you like, we found that we could hear the band everywhere! There's also a small enclosed outdoor patio with about 30 more seats at umbrellaed tables. The Jim Atkinson band is a foursome of Boston-area musicians that has been cranking out great blues, rock, & roots since 2017. We loved them, especially enjoying the creative keyboard and a real live sax! Their music selection was amazing, more their favorite solid blues than old-standbys, so we didn't recognize every song. But that's real music :-) The $1 New England oysters were big and juicy! They started at 4pm before we got there, and they still had plenty for us after 7pm! They say the variety changes with availability. These were not overly salty. This was dinner for us, and we started with their hot-skillet "Mexican Corn Dip" with zingy pico de gallo salsa and fresh crisp corn tortilla chips. We got a "warm energy" bowl of quinoa, fresh tart cranberries, baby spinach, roasted sweet potato, and goat cheese, flavored with some scallions and garlic-butter. Huge, delicious, and very satisfying! The Fish 'n Chips was a full-foot-long full of their own Moon-Hill-beer beer-battered haddock, piping-hot fries, fresh crunchy coleslaw, with tartar sauce. Yep, Huge, delicious, and satisfying! We tried their parmesan-garlic wings, but that wasn't our favorite. They were ok, but not crispy which we expected. Came with crunchy celery and creamy bleu cheese. Of course we leaned on their in-house Moon Hill brewery for several dry IPAs, their luscious Candy Mountain blueberry sour, (which could have been colder), and a very tasty non-alcohol Blueberry (Not)-tini, a bubbly beverage crafted with "Reàl Blueberry Purée", fresh lemon juice and lemonade. This is a nice community bar, brewery, restaurant, and patio. We are already looking forward to their big Octoberfest!

We drove down at about 4:30, my gf went in to order a pizza and check the place out. She came out and told me the person said it takes 30 minutes to get their oven hot. My gf orders and they say to come back in 30 minutes. There's nothing much in the place, it's take out only. There's no real ambiance, you can't even watch them cook. We sit in the car and wait 30 minutes, nobody goes in the place and nobody came out. Nobody texts us or emails us. 30 minutes my gf gets the pizza and brings it to the car. It's lukewarm, we drive the 1/4 mile home and by then it's cold. Is it good pizza? Well...we had to put it our oven to heat it! The dough was good, it seemed to be cooked right, kind of an unattractive pizza, no spices or anything on it and haphazardly put together. And...pretty expensive for the area, too. Forget the 2 five star reviews, those are fake reviews. OK...I'm 70 years old, 1/2 Italian, I've eaten this type of pizza before. Here, there, and everywhere. It was good, but average for what I've eaten in the past. Here's the problem with this type of pizza. You have to eat it hot from the oven, and then there's maybe a 10-15 minute window of opportunity to enjoy it. That means you are never, ever...ever going to get a hot pizza from this place. Waiting 30 minutes is just crazy when it only takes like 3 minutes or less to cook these things. The range of this pizza being hot is about as far as the Post Office or so. The people in the Chinese restaurant, the police, the people in the auto parts store and maybe the workers at Athol bank are about the only people in all of Winchendon that are going to get hot pizza from here. My advice is to at least put a few tables in the place. Have the oven ready, nobody wants to wait 30 minutes for a pizza. Get a phone so people can call for info. I like fancy food, but I can't understand how this place can survive when there's already a lot of pizza available.
