We ordered two custom shades for our home; one for our covered patio and another for our pergola. Brad, Garrett, and the installation team were pleasant and professional, which made our experience great. I actually stumbled on Phoenix Hardwood while looking for options to deal with an aged and very…read morebadly heaved living room slab, which was complicating a flooring install I had been trying to line up. Other contractors had told me we'd need at least 6 to 10 hours of grinding to get anywhere, and being the center of my house, that just wasn't an viable option. Mark came out to take a look, and gave me some additional options that did not require nearly as much grinding. He also had some ideas to help mitigate and contain the dust that would be generated, which other folks had not bothered to try and work with me on. While I only needed options for this one room, Mark gave me a proposal for doing the entire flooring job (7 rooms in total, over 1400 square feet). Prices were a bit higher than the other outfits I had talked to, but Mark's company specializes in hardwood floors and I liked his attitude and the willingness to work with me on the dust and grinding concerns, not to mention his straightforward honesty. While we had a few slight hiccups at the very outset, the installation moved ahead at a very quick pace and did not relent until we wrapped up exactly seven days later. We ran into a number of issues, primarily with the 30 year old slab having settled or cracked (or both) in most of the rooms, but Dan and Will, who did the install, were able to surmount them all without missing a beat. These guys have known each other for eight years and worked together more than half that time, and it absolutely shows when you watch how well they function as a team. They work quickly and efficiently and are absolute masters of their craft. I cannot say enough good things about the quality of the job they did or the speed with which they knocked it out. Anyone who reads my reviews knows that I don't pull punches and I do not hesitate to call out shenanigans. In this case, I really have nothing but good things to say about the folks at Phoenix Hardwood. These guys knocked it out of the park and exceeded my expectations in every regard. My wife and I are thrilled with how the floors turned out, and our only regret is that we did not hire them sooner. I would recommend them without hesitation to anyone looking to get hardwood floor installed, because I simply cannot imagine anyone doing a better job.

I had our pool deck and patio coated by Galaxy 3 years ago. About a year ago I notices that the top…read morecoating was not holding up and eventually the coating started flaking off the cement in places. We have a 15 year warranty, so I was surprised that there were obvious defects this early. I called Galaxy and was directed to Nick. I played phone tag with him for about a week. When we connected by phone, Nick set up an appointment to come and look at our concerns. Surprisingly, Nick agreed there was a problem with the UV layer/topcoat. He advised me that they should take full responsibility and replace the entire pool decking and patio coating based on his assessment. He noted that the chemical company had to change the composition of the topcoat to withstand the Arizona sun. Nick submitted the warranty work and it was approved in about a week. Nick schedules a time/date to perform the work. I am once again very happy with the results. If you decide to use Galaxy ask for Jorge's crew. The job was scheduled for 2 days. Jorge and two other gentlemen got to work and knocked it out in 1 day. It was easy to see that Jorge was very detailed and did not cut corners with the quality of work. The pool was left very clean and they vacuumed my turf and even the landscape rock around the pool. The reason we initially decided to use Galaxy was because we had a lackluster pool contractor that didn't cure our concrete properly and it cracked immediately. Approximately 50% of the pool deck concrete was replaced by order of the ROC. The other 50% was not replaced because the cracking did not fall outside the quality guidelines. Galaxy treated the cracks and filled them to improve the longterm appearance of the pool deck. I am not delusional to believe that the cracks will not eventually return, but I appreciate the process of "repairing" them. The Galaxy coating is unbelievably cool on the feet compared to just about any other surface I have encountered. We researched pavers, travertine, Kool deck, and several others before going with Galaxy. Although Galaxy is not the most reasonable or most expensive, I see the value in their product. I will have to see how the new coating withstands the Arizona summers, but for now, I am very satisfied.

Throughout the project Kurt was very fast responding to texts or emailed questions. As for the work, it went very smoothly and right on schedule. Excellent Sales, Poor Workmanship, Ignored by the Company…read more I found AZ Shade Masters at a recent home show and was impressed with their presentation, product, and information about pergola options. I obtained bids from four firms and AZ Shade Masters provided a detailed and competitive bid for my planned 4K Aluminum pergola. Unfortunately, the installation is where things went sideways, and AZ Shade Masters ignored my concerns: 1. White caulk on the roof is visible from ground level - The installer advised "I" can fix this by painting the caulk with matching spray paint, but it may take several coats. 2. Closer inspection with a ladder revealed caulk haphazardly applied with drips left wherever they fell. 3. Frame beams were cut too short, and gaps are filled with wide beads of painted caulk. 4. Metal shavings were left in the rain gutter along with a metal scrap cut to allow water drainage. 5. Gussets of unequal length were accidentally installed requiring the correctly sized shorter gusset to be replaced to match the longer to avoid leaving exposed holes in the posts. The installers had the design plan in hand but suggested they could install my pergola however I wanted. I stressed several times they should follow the plan and was forced to correct them when they attempted to deviate (for example: eliminating gussets when they were to be included and sloping the frame beams instead of installing them level). One even suggested I was "OCD" for insisting they follow the plan. (I DID accept one of their suggestions and shortened the pergola height by six inches which was a solid recommendation). After discovering the caulk issues, I texted photos to both my salesman and the company manager. I also left voicemails and a message with the showroom. I connected with the salesman who advised some aspects of the caulking are "normal" but not all and he deferred to his manager for any remediation. I have heard nothing since from AZ Shade Masters. While the crew was personable, installation quality leaves much to be desired (the photos speak for themselves). I should note the installers have the customer sign a form that there are no concerns after installation is complete. I signed as I was largely satisfied and the pergola looks good at first glance, but closer inspection reveals issues not apparent from ground level. These issues combined with the lack of response from the company prevent me from recommending AZ Shade Masters.
