I want to give a shout out to Patrick's Enterprises Locksmith & Security in Freeport, Texas. I'm not sure what the deal is with the negative reviews because our experience was anything but. Excellent service that saved us a lot of money. Bear with me while I provide the background info! The totally integrated power module on AJ's 2010 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon went out and we had to have it replaced. This particular part is hard to get right now -- supply chain issues, of course. Clint at Firestone in Clute was persistent in trying to find one for us and Don Davis told him they had one that had been ordered for a customer who ended up getting rid of their vehicle before the part came in. So we were able to get that one. The guys at Firestone installed it and programmed it and that part of our two part problem was solved. When we left Firestone, the key fob still wouldn't work. AJ could unlock the Jeep manually, but for the few seconds between getting in and starting the Jeep, the alarm would sound. Ugh. So as a temporary fix, he disconnected the power to the doors. No alarm, but also no power windows, etc. He bought a battery at Dollar General and switched it out. Still had the problem. So we figured this 13 year old fob needed to be replaced. Called the dealership and was horrified to learn a new fob was $195 and programming it was another $175, so a total of $370! To get them to do a diagnostic to see if the fob could be repaired was $160 before they even did any work. Called Clint at Firestone back to make sure there wasn't anything else they could do, and he said, "Hey -- call Patrick's Locksmith in Freeport -- I think they sell and program fobs. Let me know what you find out." Called Patrick's and the guy who answered the phone said he would get the locksmith to call me back. Received a callback a few hours later. Super nice guy said to bring the Jeep in between 9 and noon today. So to wrap this story/review up: AJ took the Jeep over and the locksmith said a new key fob AND programming would be $125. BUT let's just make sure you didn't get a bad battery...and $9 later, the key fob is working great! We are going to eventually purchase a new key fob because the price is so reasonable and AJ only has one key to the Jeep and it would be good to have a spare. The moral of this story is to call around before taking the first solution offered. We would have been out almost $400 on top of the TIPM ($2200), but a very honest locksmith in Freeport got us where we needed to be for $9. I had an unresponsive key fob with a cracked shell and a valet key that was getting stuck in the car door which created a lot of frustration for me. I have an '07 Honda Pilot. I was told to come down to the shop and they will try to help. Within an hour or so, Patrick's provided me with an explanation of the problems with my key and fob as well as a brand new programmed key fob and a new cut key for my door. Everything works and I now have piece of mind that I can get into my vehicle and start it. Also, this was all accomplished in a fraction of the time and most likely a small fraction of the price the dealership would have charged me. The satisfaction that a small business in the community got my money and assisted me with something that was causing me stress, all in an hour's time is priceless really. My wife's expedition Key/FOB quit working on a Sunday while in Freeport at the beach. Called Patricks and they answered right away. We discussed my issue, he sounded knowledgeable. Told me he would be here within 30-45 minutes. The tech showed up on time, was friendly and got the job done. Patricks saved the day for sure. I had lost the combination to an old Sear Tower safe and needed it open. I called Patrick's, explained my situation, was informed that Patrick was not in at the moment, left my name and number and waited for his call. The next day when he did not call I called back and talked to him, explained what I needed and set up a time for Saturday. He said he had a job to do and would get to me when he finished that job. I waited at the house all day Saturday and he was a no show, not even a call to let me know he would not make it, basically wasting my whole day. I had called Patrick because he was local and I wanted to support local business. I really should have looked at his reviews, on Google he has 10 reviews and 2 of the say he did the same thing to them, it will be 3 of 11 soon.
