My wife and I had to replace her 2018 Countryman (purchased at another dealership) due to a blown head gasket. We decided on Patrick Mini after we found a car on their website. When we called they actually answered and were very professional ( unlike another dealer whose sales dept didn't pickup the call) so we made an appointment to see the car 3 hours later. I totally expected them to tell me my five year old mini needed a lot of work...but they didn't! They told me there was a very small $300 repair that could get done but wouldn't really affect the performance of my car. Scheduling online was really easy. The service provider was very friendly. My wife and I brought our Mini cooper in for service due to a check engine light, and I wanted them to check a noise coming from the rear passenger side. While waiting for the diagnosis, the sales manager asked us if we wanted to test drive the e-mini we were checking out. Only to never hear about it again (we were there for hours.) Then the diagnosis comes back that there's a bad bearing in the rear differential, out of warranty, and are quoted a massive repair bill. I asked how a mint car that costs 38k new with only 40k miles needs a new differential, and I was told it was the "luck of the draw." Like I'm at a casino for reliable cars, not a BMW/MINI dealership hah. It also acknowledges pretty well that this is a manufacturer's defect, but weren't given any sort of offer to work with us at all or were shown any empathy. Since I was there 3 months ago with another big repair bill, I was wondering if trading it in would be a good option and was told we would get an offer for a trade-in. We never did, just like the test drive. At this point, we just wanted to get out of there with the check engine light fixed. We were then given the car back with the brake lights out somehow, and a new alert from the computer, which they took care of but geesh. We left feeling neglected and screwed over. read more

WARNiNG CHECK YOUR PAPERWORK $4300 added to our finance agreement even after we repeatedly said no To the warranties. You only have 30 days to notice Finance have added for a full refund. Purchased car Sept 22 we have had numerous conversations, emails with Finance and management to cancel these unwanted additions. They advise you they are cancelled yet as of 8 Feb 23 one warranty is still active and clearly not cancelled or refunded. Incorrect paperwork given days after the purchase. We are still awaiting the car sales IL 65 tax document! Which has been requested several times. Lack of customer and management care when dealing with customer complaints. Bait & Switch Con Artists! I negotiated in good faith over 2 days with Gary Khaytin (Sales) and Joe Jamilkowski (Sales Mgr) on purchase of a certified Mini and trade-in of my Jeep where we agreed on price for both. Patrick Mini did not want my trade-in but agreed to give me the CarMax appraised value and then immediately sell it to CarMax. When I arrived at the dealership to sign paperwork and exchange vehicles Gary and Joe tried to shake me down for an additional $1,800. At first they lied and said it was tax on my trade-in, when I called them out on that, they quickly change their story to a "fee for the work they had to do on my Jeep". I reminded them that they had agreed to sell my Jeep to CarMax, so no work would be required. They changed their story again to "now we may want to keep your Jeep and sell off our lot and will need to prepare it for sale". At this point I knew I as dealing with unscrupulous people not willing to honor the deal they originally made. After unfortunately being let go of my job due to the pandemic and having to leave the USA permanently due to my visa I had reached out to my original dealer Matt Kinsella about my options about what I can do about the car that still had 2 years left on the 'lease'. As I legally couldn't enter the USA (currently stuck in the UK due to travel bans) I wasn't able to go to the dealership or take my car back. The dealership agreed that they would buy the car back from me and then I would pay them the remaining balance left on my lease. They arranged to drive to my old apartment and photograph the car so they could give me a perfect quote. They came down and took photos, my landlord let them into my garage. Then they must have decided that helping me didn't benefit them and decided the best way to handle the situation was to completely ignore me and pretend my issue did not exist. I sent various emails to various different managers and sales men at Patrick Mini as well as many voicemails. I believe they see that I'm calling from a UK number and decide to ignore it. I understand that my situation wasn't ideal, but dealing with the situation and having a conversation about how they weren't willing to help me would have helped my situation a lot. I now have to have the car repossessed. I emailed and left multiple voicemails for Enzo Costa, Ivan Corak and Matt Kinsella and they all felt the best way to deal with me was to ignore me and leave me to deal with it myself without any communication. Bought a car at Patrick Mini. The staff knew very little about the vehicles. They honestly should just replace the human interaction element with Kiosks. Do the research yourself. Also, the finance team uses scare tactics to sell over-priced service plans. My biggest complaint is the sell sheet listed features that I later confirmed were not actually present on my vehicle. My car was supposed to have folding power side mirrors and did not. Materially defrauding a customer is about as low as it gets. The dealership basically chalked it up as a typo. I bought my car here from a wonderful sales girl named Anna! She was a customers dream!! Nice, honest, loved her job. Then everyone that I knew at Patrick was gone. I will never go back for anything from Patrick mini. First, 1of the new tires that were a on the car when I got it leaked. I called and they said no problem they'll fix it. Due to my schedule, it was a while but they put a valve stem on it. Did not work. Still leaked. Last week I went in for an oil change. Brad Smith checked me it. Put my key in his computer and said I needed washer fluid. I had to reschedule my appt for the next day but stopped and got a gallon of fluid and filled my reservoir. Brought my car the next day. Almost the year anniversary. They charged me to fix the leak on the new tire that they sold me the car with. There was corrosion on the rim that should have been file down before the new tire was put on. Then they charged me for washer fluid!!! That I just filled not hours before. They also said the tires needed to be replaced. Oil seeping from the pan. Crack in the exhaust pipe, close to 3000$ in repairs. I don't trust anything they say here. I actually looked my last invoice and there was a charge for washer fluid on that one too. I always fill my own fluids. But Patrick mini is going to charge me for things that I do as a car owner, like fill my fluids, oil, washer etc..If you love your car, like I do, find a mechanic that you know and let them do your repairs. , the service manager was trying to tell me a plastic push pin was a metal rivet!! Decent dealership. Not enough salespeople. Why did I walk in with an Asian person? I should've known better. If Broil, joined me, (he's White) I would've had a salesman on my ass once I walked in the door and I would've been on my test drive sooner. But, since I chose to bring a fellow Asian pal with; no approach from any salespeople. I even did the obnoxious, getting in and out of cars and asking aloud "I wonder how much this is with tax and financing, etc" I'm very perceptive, I catch more looks than most people care to look for, because service at times is based on color and stereotypes. A saleswoman here gave me that same F%$#ing look I got at Knauz Mini. In the moment she wondered if we were serious purchasers, I was realizing, fuck this place. One more Mini dealership in IL to go to. My last car purchase wasn't this stuck up. Seriously. The stereotyping has to quit. Dress to impress guys. I was wearing the exact same clothes as this younger guy with his girlfriend. Still, they were approached within 2 minutes of entering. We were never greeted and were only approached after twenty minutes. (At that point I'd take off, but after the drive out this way, my friend didn't want to go without the test drive.) She was friendly, personable, passionate about the MINI brand, and extremely knowledgeable about my new 2016 MINI! This is my 2nd MINI so I knew what I wanted and found a car in Patrick's inventory online and set up an appointment to see it. It was everything I wanted (and more!) and Christina and Ivan were both very helpful with setting up my appointment to see the car, test driving it, and eventually taking it home! Christina especially was super helpful with demonstrating the new features the 2016 MINI offered. This may come as a surprise that I'm so excited that my car salesperson was knowledgeable about my new car, but my previous and first MINI (which I got from a different MINI dealership in a different suburb...not to name names) buying experience was pretty dreadful. About a month ago, I purchased a 2015 Countryman from this location. It was a one owner car with only 56,000 miles. I traveled from the city to take it for a test drive as I had my eye on it for a few weeks. I loved the car and decided to go ahead with the purchase. The buying process itself was pleasant. We went in on a Saturday so the credit union I was pre-approved for was not available but they were able to ensure I got the same rate through a different institution. The whole process took probably 2-3 hours. However, as of today, it's been just over four weeks since buying the car and I have had to spend $700 in repairs including all new spark plugs, a replacement coil, and now a new water pump. Half of which came within two weeks of owning it. I reached out regarding the issues I encountered to try resolve my frustration directly with the dealer. After being told that I would be reached out to last week and wasn't, my follow up has gone without response. I took the risk of buying a used car without a warranty (the car was just above 50,000 miles which voided the remaining warranty that MINI provides). Used cars come with repairs sooner than new cars and I expected that. I've only ever owned used cars so it kind of comes with the territory. However, I didn't expect $700 in repairs before my first payment was even due. I'm not sure what I expected reaching out to the dealership, because as I said, it's part of the risk when buying a used car, but the lack of communication has also been extra aggravation. With all that I said, I still love my MINI. It's the model that I wanted for a price that was reasonable, but I would recommend being wary of buying used models at this location and instead splurge for a new MINI. It might just save you some headaches. read more

I was finally able to take advantage of their "door to door" service, so I'm quite happy I don't have to shlep all the way out to Schaumburg whenever my car needs servicing. Patrick will drop off a loaner car, pick up your car to be serviced, and then return your car in a day or two. It's a great service and the only downside is that you have to arrange this during their normal business hours so it doesn't really work for me to wait around for them all morning. My mom was able to come to the rescue and accept the loaner car for me, so it worked out. Two days later and my car was delivered, all shiny and clean from the car wash they do as part of their service. While I'm pleased that Patrick offers this service, I am still waiting with breathless anticipation for the Chicagoland Mini dealership to open on Diversey. It's about time there was a Mini dealer in Chicago proper. read more

I have to say, compared to Mike S, I've had a completely different experience with Patrick's service department. I bought my car there in mid 2004, and ever since they split off from the BMW dept, service has gone downhill. I had to call them FOUR TIMES to set up an appointment back in September! Once I finally brought my car in, they never called me to let me know it was ready, like they said they would. But get this... I needed a replacement part. When they explained what all had been done to the car and didn't mention the replacement I asked, "hey, what about that one part?" The guy says "oh, yeah...we had to order it and we'll let you know when it'll be in. Should be about two weeks." Ok, no biggie. So I wait FOUR weeks, call them, and it turns out they received my part, never called me, and then sent the part BACK TO ENGLAND/GERMANY/WHEREVER!!! So then I had to wait ANOTHER four weeks, they swore they would call me, and of course they never did. Needless to say, it still hasn't gotten fixed because I no longer work in the NW burbs, and it's just not convenient for me anymore. But it was back in September.... read more

I do not know what happened to the service department at this dealership. When I moved to Chicago, in early 2006, there was a different group of people who handled the mini department. It was a tight ship; appointments started on time, loaners were readily available, and service was completed within 2 hours max (unless otherwise stated). It has since dropped off! During a recent inspection for my car, I was not greeted by anyone even though there were a group of 5 guys sitting around doing nothing. I interrupted them and informed that I was there for a 9am appointment. After seeing people who arrived after me have their cars returned, I asked what was taking so long. A vague reason was given. After 3.5 hours, my car was finally returned. The bad part, they did not take care of the things that I had come there for in the first place! read more

First, I must confess, I hate car dealerships. I hate how they market themselves. I hate their attempts to call themselves "car stores!'" What, like the negative connotation of the word dealership isn't fitting? I hate the modern repair philosophy of "replace the poorly designed part with a new one under warranty rather than fix the real quality problem." OK, enough bitching, now that we have that confession out of the way, I'll discuss Patrick Mini. I did not buy my Mini at Patrick- I bought mine at a dealer I learned to truly despise in Naperville (but love the car). But where ever you buy your mini, you're paying full price, so it's pretty much a process of sitting down at a computer, picking options, and waiting for the car to arrive and filling out the paperwork. I'm sure Patrick handles this as well as anybody. I have been taking my car to Patrick for regular service. What sets Patrick apart? First, they have a couple Mini loaners! At Bill Jacob's they are willing to rent you a car down the street if you really push, but you have to pay a negotiated rate for the thing- a dodge neon was my vehicle- total POS. Patrick's got it right, with some cool new minis for loaners. They don't have a lot of them, but if you make an appointment for your service, they're happy to schedule it for whenever a loaner's available. Given the limited number of Mini dealerships, folks getting regular maintenance/service done are likely to be traveling a good distance, so loaners are pretty much an expected service if you ask me. Initially I found all the BMW branded paperwork and "we love our BMW drivers" crap pretty annoying. I like BMWs, but don't subject me to that stuff when I'm bringing in a Mini. Patrick has split off their mini service desk from the BMW side, which is a nice plus. When you call to check on your car somebody generally answers the phone! A year ago they were so back-logged with BMWs you'd never get anybody- it was so bad that they built a BMW website that they'd ask you to log into to check your car's status (rather then phone in). That was lame. The good news is that now that the mini service is split off, you don't have to deal with that anymore, somebody who knows something about your car is likely to answer the phone when you call to check on it. So Patrick's been pretty good to me. I wish, when I brought the car in for a brake job they would have replaced both the front and rear pads. They replaced just the fronts (and not the rotors- first time I was ever told they didn't need replacing, and they weren't even refinished/turned down!), and now, 3k miles later the wear sensor light went off and I got to take another trip to the dealer for the rear pads- lame. But I suppose that's how it goes when you're getting warranty work done- they only do what they have to- nothing's really free. So overall a good dealership, with only the expected complaints. They haven't surprised me with service I haven't expected, but they haven't let me down with any of the crap I've dealt with at other places either- 4 stars. read more

Just passed the 10,000 mile mark on the odometer of my 2008 Mini Cooper frompatrick. She (christened "Prudence" for her British ancestry) has not given me a moment's worry. Michael, the Mini Motorman who sold me the car, was most knowledgeable and helpful after I designed her online. When I ordered her, Mike recommended the rubber floor mats but no other special features given my profile as a driver. And they were worth the $40. He was able to find an exact match that was arriving in the US as an award to the dealership ... Mini doesn't send plaques, they send cars! So I bought a 2008 new vehicle in August 2008 and she was delivered within 2 weeks. I chose Patrick from the three dealers in northern IL because they offer the pick up service. Living in Chicago, it is so convenienet to schedule a pick up at 7:30 am from my condo, get a loaner, and have Prudence returned, serviced and washed, that evening before 6 p. The service department has also taken my call and explained how to reset the tire pressure warning light after I discovered that in winter, the light engages even tho my tire pressure is a perfect 33 pounds. Again,i have never had to have the tires filled - in over 10,000 miles. So, Patrick is THE Mini dealer! read more

My MINI is the first new car i've ever bought, and I bought it from Patrick. John took great care of me, and i patiently waited 6 weeks for the car to arrive from England. I drove away happy with the best car i've ever owned (and that's easy to say, what with having only driven an '80 Volare, an '88 Corsica, and a '95 Sentra) As for service, the only problems i had were from before they split off from the BMW service department, and that was with being called back. I think that's typical of a lot of service departments, and mostly it just took a little persistance to get a hold of someone to get an answer. My best experiance came after i got in an accident. The bodyshop was great to work with. Even when my insurance company tried to screw me after the accident (apparently MINI isn't one of their certified bodyshops, and so i was going to have to pay for part of the repair), MINI covered the costs that the insurance company was going to pass on. All in all, and especially compared to some of the horror stories i've heard out their about other MINI dealers, i'd say Patrick is top notch and a great dealership. read more

I bought my mini from Patrick Mini in August of 2018. At that point I got great service and got what I thought was a great deal. I believed that going to a major dealership all the way to Schaumburg was worth it instead of going to a local dealership in Chicago. I mean, a few years back I had the most amazing experience at the Schaumburg Volkswagen dealership. While the sales transaction at that time went really well, it was the series of problems I experienced afterwards that left me feeling deceived and completely betrayed to the point of not wanting to return again. For starters, they physically removed the city sticker from my old car to my new car without letting me know that I had to make the transfer since city stickers in the city now have the car's information on it. They told me they processed all the paperwork for the transfer. I later had to pay a fine because this was not the case. I bought the car in August and by October I got a warning that the oil service was due. I was told that I would need oil service once a year but just a couple of months I was getting a warning. This means that they didn't service the car before selling it to me as they had claimed. I asked to get a free oil change service but I was ignored. I was told my car had run flat tires and that was the reason I wouldn't need a spare. Well, with just 35K miles and not much rough driving, I am now finding out that I need tires and that the tires are not run flat!!! In fact, there is a spare underneath the truck!!! All this time I thought I had run flat and thank God I didn't get a flat, because I didn't even know I had a spare!!! I also didn't think the tires were so run down that at just 35K I would need new ones!! I got this incorrect information even when I had a MINI specialist take the time to explain everything about the mini cooper. The worst part has been dealing with the dealership and addressing these issues. They have shown no concern and have not made an attempt to correct the misinformation they gave me. You would think that at least offering a very good discount on their service would show good faith, but this is not the case. This makes me believe that they are just like any regular dealership that purposely lie to customers and don't care for service. I don't recommend this dealership and I will never go back to it again. read more

Fortunately, there was the exact model in stock that we wanted - pre-owned but with an amazingly low number of miles, and they worked with us to get the deal done with no fuss and at a price that was less than average market price. Noe was a great representative for the Mini brand; he was very friendly, helpful, and attentive to answer all our questions, but was never pushy or aggressive - which we appreciated. Zain, the Finance Manager, really listened to our concerns and needs and structured a suitable loan/warranty that also kept the cost low. All in all, we agreed the entire process was more of a friendly sit down than a tense back-and-forth negotiation session, which we had experienced in the past at other dealerships. There was a good vibe the whole time - even just the salespeople wearing casual clothes and sneakers made it seem more relaxed and comfortable. Not having the patience to order my MINI and wait 6 weeks, I asked her if she could scan the database for any models close to what I'd built online. She did this not only once, but four times. Every time their inventory is updated, she sends me a personalized email. Amazing. So my cousin and I visit the dealership to meet her and test drive. We both fell in love with the little Red Rocket and Maria could not have been more accomodating. She tried to find an inbound unit that would arrive faster than a custom order, and she offered to have one that was expected in 3 weeks to be routed to schaumburg instead of ohio. I rationalized that it would ultimately be better to customer order because the model I would receive would be an '09 and the Ohio-bound unit was an '08. I didn't place an order that day, only because I needed to test drive other cars to make sure this was the one I really loved. After my experiences at Autobarn, I'll be calling her tomorrow. read more
