Half of the Claudia dessert - great flavor!
    Stacy A.

This bakery was highly recommended so I took my daughter to try it. Sadly (I think because of COVID) they do not actually have a storefront right now. You need to order over the phone or online and then they bring out once it's ready for pickup. Luckily they had the pastries we wanted. They taste very good, but a little pricey ($6 / pastry) to get very often.

The almond croissant is EVERYTHING. This bakery is located in an unassuming shopping mall, right next to an advanced auto parts. Don't let the location fool you, it was still packed 30 minutes before closing. I originally wanted to order macarons, but they had sold out by the time I got here. I saw a couple reviews raving about the almond croissant and it didn't disappoint! The croissant had great almond flavor, and a crusty exterior. The inside was flaky and buttery, and I could see myself eating 3 of these in one sitting. I also got the chocolate croissant, and it was also amazing. The buttery layers went really well with the chocolate. If you are in silver spring, I would definitely recommend stopping by! I can't wait to be back to try their other desserts!

The almond croissant is not a pastry, it's an experience! A little bite into heaven with pleasant service .

Thank Chef Claudia for fulfilling our custom request for Keto Empanadas! It has been too long since we've been able to indulge in our favorite Chilean treat! The empanadas were absolutely delicious, both the beef (pino) and the ham&cheese! We were beyond happy that you agreed to take on our challenge and even more elated after taking the first bite! Thank you for bringing us some extra joy in the form of these amazing and keto friendly treats! Excited to try out your future keto friendly delicacies

    Macaron flavors (visited May 2016)

I was visiting a spot one weekend and was checking out some nearby places on my Yelp app and came across Patisserie Manuel. Decided to take a visit since it was listed as a Bakery. It is located in Plaza del Mercado. As soon as you turn in the plaza's main entrance, it is located next to Advance Auto Parts, in the spot where Quiznos used to be back in the day (at the corner). When you first enter and walk in, you can see a lot of the pastries they have. Each had a little card showing the name of the pastry and the cost as well. I think they also serve other food items, but I only glanced at their menu on the wall for a quick second. However, I was only interested in their desserts that day. So here is what I tried and what I thought of each: Fruit Tart - cream is light and it comes with 3 quarter sized strawberries, 1 blackberry, 1 raspberry and several blueberries. I am not a fan of berries overall so I didn't eat any of the berries except for the strawberry, but I am a fan of fruit tarts and I enjoyed this one. I did have to use a knife to cut it as it was a bit harder to break apart or bite into. Canele de Bordeaux - I had asked what this was, but the only words I think I paid attention to was caramel cake and rum or something of that nature. It is described as having a caramelized crust and this was one dessert I enjoyed and will get more of next time. Strawberry & White Peach Mousse - I guess the mousse part caught my attention in the name of this dessert but as I ate it. It was good and again the strawberries here was sweet, but I wish this dessert had more cake than the mousse. Macarons - I got 5 flavors (Vanilla, Coconut, Praline, Pistachio and Salted Caramel). I did not like the Vanilla (too plain - my fault) and Praline (not sure but after the first bite, I did not like this flavor). I did enjoy the others, Coconut, Pistachio and Salted Caramel (I knew this flavor after my first bite of it). The macarons I got were chewy and as I bit into a few, the cream in the middle oozed out in all directions (something I have never experienced in eating a macaron). Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed eating these and will try some other flavors, but I hope to not see it ooze out again...that's all. Almond Pain Au Choc - I have not tried this dessert as yet (saving it for another day), but it looks good. I think it is a chocolate croissant topped with almonds...just my guess. Hope it tastes good when I consume it in a day or two.

    Napoleon, macarons, eclair

Since I was in the area and I'm basically obsessed with macarons, I stopped by Patisserie Manuel. The place is very cute and the staff is super nice and ready to answer questions about the items. So, onto the sweets. First, I love that they have many desserts that are in smaller versions. I ordered one of each flavor of macaron (vanilla, raspberry, and pistachio), a smaller version of an eclair, and a huge Napoleon. I loved all my items. The raspberry macaron was my fave one because the flavor was intense. I loved that the chocolate on the top of the eclair had a nice crunch for texture. And the Napoleon? You can taste the butter in the pastry layers and the cream - all of it together, so flavorful. To top it all off, all of the items were really reasonably priced, unlike many other similar bakeries. If I lived in the area, I'd be a regular. As it stands, I still plan on additional visits.

Almond croissants, creme brulee croissant plain croissants, canele

Hands down, the BEST almond croissant I've ever tasted! Chef Claudia is maintaining strict social distancing practices, but her website is easy to order from and pickup is a snap. Today I treated my family to a box of pastry love from Patisserie Manuel. The canele were still WARM!!!

Various croissants after a few were eaten

We tried this patisserie this morning and I have to say- maybe the best croissants I've ever had? Definitely up there with Kouign Amman in Montreal. The flake is impeccable, the flavor was on point and the pain du chocolat had a lovely soft, dark chocolate filling! The almond and croissant and the chocolate pear croissant were amazing as well! Go! Right now!

    Beautiful display case

Hooked! I found this patisserie yesterday and had to go back for more today. - Dassion (dark chocolate mousse with passion fruit): Stellar! I was skeptical about liking the passion fruit center because I tend to find it too tart, but it works really well with the chocolate mousse. - Mon Amour (mango): This one is very refreshing. The coconut shavings on the outside adds some nice texture. - Amanda (white chocolate mousse with a strawberry center and a hint of orange): I think the white chocolate mousse is a little too sweet, but the strawberry center helped cut through the sweetness substantially. I think it'd be better if the strawberry center is bigger. I also brought home the Black Forest, Claudia (hazelnut), and some croissants but haven't tried them yet. At over $5 a piece, I'm rationing these! But I'll definitely be back to try the many other desserts I haven't gotten to yet.

    ah so gorgeous!

First of all, their bread is to die for. It's fresh and delicious! I love their french bread the most (: However their cakes, the napoleons are too sweet for my taste. My mother had bought a fruit cake from them, it looked amazing. However the cake was dry. The fruit was fresh and yummy and so was the pudding-like cream on the cake. But the cake, the actual cake was dry and hard to chew and had a bad texture. I'll come back since their bread is amazing. It's just one cake, probably just forgotten the cake was old or something. since some of their other pastries are amazing.

Highly recommend! Super easy ordering process, nice people, the fruit tart is unbelievably good. They went the extra mile to make it a really special, beautiful birthday fruit tart. Very safe curbside pick up option.

Quiche Lorraine and an Iced Vanilla latte on a Tuesday morning.

I was looking for an alternative to the Starbucks in Plaza Del Mercado for a long time. While I am a die-hard Starbucks fan, this particular store has become way overcrowded of late... I needed some place with good coffee and a more quiet atmosphere. That's when I found Patisserie Manuel. Great service with great food. I had the Quiche Lorraine and an Iced Vanilla Latte. The quiche was extremely tasty - perfect size (not too large or too small) with a beautiful crust. The vanilla latte was a little sweet for my taste, but good overall. Great atmosphere - they were playing French music and it really helped create a relaxed atmosphere in this cute bakery. While I didn't order any sweets, they looked fantastic. Definitely something to try later!

My husband took me here for our wedding anniversary breakfast, it's just down the street from where we live and it was a great way to start the day. Their turkey and cheese sandwich was delicious and the raspberry croissant was delightful! The cappuccino was great too! Awesome place right in the middle of the suburbs :)

After giving up the morning of his birthday, I called Flowers to get their strawberry shortcake, which is very similar to the cake I make. I was able to pick it up at the Hyattsville location after calling several times. The issue was, this is a whipped cream cake, but apparently they too were short on whipping cream because the icing was BUTTERCREAM, which defeated the purpose of calling the bakery. I could have done buttercream at home!!! Also, the workers did not spell his name (Michael- a regular DEGULAR name with normal Western spelling) correctly. I spelled it for her three times in English AND Spanish, and she STILL wrote it Michel. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE. She "fixed" it but left the cake smudged. I am madder about the buttercream than the name though because they didn't sweeten it, so it tasted like cold hard butter instead of buttercream lol. You can't make a lightly sweetened whipped cream frosting with butter. You just can't. They don't do the same things. Flowers is a great bakery for a lot of things but they need to make better decisions in their cake baking and their staff definitely needs to take some basic spelling tests because that was awful.

The first bite was a bit of a shock to the system. It's one of those rare "Ratatouille moments" where a flavor profile manages to bridge the gap between Maryland and the legendary sponge cakes of Phoenix Bakery in LA. It's a bit of a trick, really--making something taste like a childhood memory without being cloying about it. The Breakdown: * The Sponge: It's exceptionally light. Biting into it is less like eating a dense dessert and more like biting into a sweetened, high-end pillow. It's airy, delicate, and possesses the kind of structural integrity that only a professional (or a wizard) could manage. * The Icing: A triumph of restraint. Instead of the usual sugary plaster one finds elsewhere, this is a light, white cream. It's sweet enough to let you know it's there, but it doesn't try to dominate the conversation. It's icing with a bit of dignity. * The Verdict: This is how cake ought to be. It's exquisite, technically brilliant, and far too easy to eat in a single sitting. If you appreciate a dessert that relies on craft rather than a massive dose of corn syrup, do yourself a favor and stop by. It's a legit bit of baking excellence right here in Silver Spring
