There was a bearing he took out for me and cleaned and now it is working like brand new. Hard to find customer service anymore, and he went out of his way to help me, without any other motivation to sell me more. My Dad bought a new pool filter from them and had it installed for a total of $2000.00. This was 18 months ago and the filter has never worked properly. The pool is constantly dirty. We have contacted them many times and each time they promise to come out and fix it however, they have never shown up! I do not recommend them at all! read more

During my time in Tucson, I have built two large and fancy in-ground pools with Patio and at that time happily recommended several pool builds to others. The quality of service went down with each build and the one of the friends I referred to stated the same. To wit, not the best builder anymore by a long shot and very high priced. Further, I used to bring in water samples from my pools for maintenance until it became quite clear that the staff was literally clueless about chemistry and microbiology (I have undergraduate degrees in these fields...). I stopped utlizing this service as it became a mechanism to buy their recommended products based upon spurious recommendations. This savedx me hundreds of dollars a year. Most recently, I purchased an above ground hot tub/spa from Patio (Marquis--DO NOT BUY THIS BRAND) and have had nothing but trouble with the hot tub. Patio has apparently stopped selling this product--but not before sticking me with this lemon. I will most likely need to replace this spa after a relatively short life, and I will not be purchasing another from Patio Pools due to the lack of trust in the sales staff. I would add that, as to the retail store, my family was involved with a local swim team for over 20 years. At one point, we had all the kids on the team order uniforms and equipment from Patio, but as time went on, the costs associated with the store became too high and we felt we needed to move the team's supplier to another, more competetive vendor. I don't know what has happened to this once solid local company but I will not buy anything else from them, and I would recommend others look elsewhere. They market pretty well so they look pretty and people get sucked in, but don't be fooled; the quality, products and service on both the retail and construction side are all subpar. read more

Response to company: As stated below, I thought my pool was being maintained properly until the below was identified to me by the new company. I did actually complain a few times directly to the supervisor and she handled everything and came to my home to look at what was wrong. You say I've had two pool boys but, I can count several more because I have to open my gate every time a new person comes because they think it's locked when it's not. ------------------------------------------------ I was with Patio Pool and Spas for 2 years. Everything seemed to be okay with them. Their turn over of pool technicians seemed rather fast. As soon as I'd like the person cleaning my pool, someone else would replace them. A few quit the company and others were rotated. So I can't pinpoint which technicians were good and which ones were bad. I understand with inflation that prices will go up. However, the last letter I received stated that starting in August my price would go up to $190 per month. Say what? After digesting the $30 increase to $160, I was already considering another company. $190 and you can count me out. Their service is not worth that much. As stated before, I thought all was well with my pool. I ended up hiring a small business pool company for $125 per month. All I had to do is buy the chlorine tabs. Here is where things get interesting. Things I had noticed but, just assumed was part of owning a pool. My pool started growing algae a month ago. Never had this problem before but, assumed it was from the hot weather. It also started looking way dirtier. The new pool company walked me around and showed me what to look for, etc. This is where I learned that the previous technician(s) from Patio Pool and Spas were not doing their job. 1st: My chlorine tab bucket was completely empty. No tabs whatsoever. It floats in the pool and I know past technicians filled it. Apparently the new technician didn't think it was important. So no chlorine tabs were added to the container on his behalf. But the price increase specifically addresses chlorine price increase. 2nd: the new pool company showed me my pump and showed me the little glass window that shows what the water looks like inside the sand filters. Can you say "yuck"? Past pool technicians from PP&S stated that they backwashed my pool during visits but, come to find out that is not true. If they had backwashed my pool filter they would've had to open my back gate to allow the water to run into the alley due to where the drain is located. This has never been done ever the whole time I've been with them. The back gate is locked and only we have a key to unlock it. The new pool company said that if my filter isn't being backwashed that my pool not cleaning like it's supposed to can be a direct connection to the heath of the sand in the pump. 3rd: the skimmer bucket wasn't being cleaned out. I noticed this in the past but, figured maybe it just got overlooked. When the new company looked at it, it was full of debris and bugs. That looked like they had been in there longer than a week. 4th: we have security cameras and see the technicians cleaning debris from the pool and occasionally brushing the sides. However, my steps never seemed to get brushed. I have a robot that does the bottom of the pool. The new company does this with no questions asked. As big as PP&S is, you would think I would get a weekly email about the health of my pool rather than an annotation on a card located by the pool. The new company is smaller but, they take a picture of the pool after cleaning/servicing, let me know what they found/did and what chemicals they added. If PP&S has this, then they forgot to tell me, Overall, I am happy that I moved to another company. I feel that PP&S has grown so big that they just hire whomever to clean/service the pools and it truly shows. My pool has gone down hill under their care. Had I stayed, I never would've known what wasn't being done to my pool. The technicians I had in the beginning seemed good but, I was sad when they would quit. The newer ones seem not as friendly and after seeing what wasn't being done to my pool. Everything makes sense now. I was wondering why my once sparkling pool now looks like hell. read more

I signed a contract with Patio Pools for five service visits while I was in Europe on vacation. Their "Service Manager" first came to inspect the state of my pool leaving with a signed contract, my payment and a key to the rear gate of my property. Subsequently, almost three weeks after the contracted start date I received a telephone call from Patio Pools telling me that they had not serviced my pool because I had not supplied them with a key to my property!!! After a number of angry and expensive telephone calls from Europe, Patio Pools finally agreed that they had, indeed, "found" my key. On returning to USA, I requested a partial refund of the fee that I had paid in advance. Patio Pools' office manager then invented the curious notion that one year equals 48 weeks and used this outrageous proposition in an attempted justification of a refund smaller than that due for at least two missed services!!! The irony of this experience is that I chose Patio Pools over a myriad of local sole proprietor pool servicing businesses in the expectation that they would prove more reliable! read more

AWFUL company! The owner and the store manager are rude, argumentative and only care about themselves! Just read some of the responses from the owner, Nicole, on here or on Google! She argues they are in the right and the customer is always wrong! I watched the store manager Susanne argue with a customer yelling at and insulting him, right in front of other customers! Their prices are higher than their competition and their selection of toys and accessories is far worse! Marco was nice and helpful, but I felt bad for the way his manager Susanne spoke to him, raising her voice and being very condescending and insensitive! He came out to help me with tears in his eyes, but he remained professional. Initially, my impression was very poor. We signed the contract on June 13th were told it would take 7-10 days for the permitting and then the build would begin. It took a day shy of a month before they started the build. They blamed the county, but the county is very open with their permitting process. They have a website and a phone number you can call to see when a permit is submitted and approved. It took the county a whopping two days to approve it. It took patio pools over three weeks to submit it. Not a good start. Communication during this period was non-existent. What I failed to do was ask for firm timelines of the build process. On to the good stuff. Now you might ask, why five stars with the initial problems? Well, once we had a conversation and they understood my initial disappointment and my expectation of a timeline and open communications during the build, things progressed quickly and smoothly. Communications were plentiful and their team absolutely did a fantastic job. Kathy Gilmore was incredibly helpful at providing a timeline and communicating back and forth. The foreman for my pool build was a great gentleman named Buzz who has been building pools for a very long time. He was always available to answer any questions or concerns we had and was happy to do it. He often called just to give me a layout of the days work. E.R. finished off the build with a comprehensive review of our pool equipment, how to clean the filter and how to check the chemicals and maintain them. They have various teams that do specific stages of the build (dig, rebar, plumbing, gunite, etc.). Every person they sent out was top-notch. The build started on July 12th and was completed just before Labor Day weekend. Subtracting the initial delay, it took roughly six weeks from start to finish to build a 36X22 pool. Two and a half months if you include the initial month. We are extremely happy with the final product and enjoyed roughly five weeks of swimming before the evenings got too cold for the pool to retain the heat. We did not have a pool heater installed due to the high cost to heat a pool ($400-$500 a month). If we had to do it all over, we'd definitely go with Patio Pools again. This time we'd ensure we had a timeline drawn up from the beginning to manage our expectations and for them to understand them as well. We'd also build in late winter, early Spring so we could enjoy the pool for much longer than a month and a week. read more

After our antique Coleman/Maax hot tub had sat around empty for about six months -- not coincidentally, the summer months in Tucson -- we finally decided to get it fixed. Nobody we called wanted to service the hot tub, since it was older and not familiar to them. My wife then suggested we call Patio Pools and Spas. Sarah the scheduler quickly and politely scheduled a tech visit for the next week for a flat fee covering necessary repairs. On the appointed day, I filled the tub and we waited.... Jerrod, the PP&S tech, arrived almost to the minute as scheduled, with apprentice Chris in tow. They were in good spirits. Jerrod studied the situation and then opened the side of the tub with the electronics inside. He quickly diagnosed the problem, taking time to show Chris and me what was up: packrats! They'd gnawed through the tub's plastic panels and eaten through a control wire connecting the heater to the rest of the works. After he finished patching up the wires, I turned on the main circuit breaker ... and nothing happened. It turned out there was a second main circuit breaker in the kitchen closet, something I've never seen in the five years I've lived in this home! Jerrod flicked it on and the hot tub came to life. He checked the controls and sure enough, it was running swell again. We've now asked our pool tech to come by and "season" the water so we can get in as the nights get cooler. Just in time! We're very happy with Jerrod's and Chris's service and will call Patio Pools and Spas the next time we have a similar problem. We hope we won't. absolute worst pool service ever!! Constantly had to call the office to notify them that there was no chlorine in the pool. the pool had algea. filters were not being cleaned. I have cameras at my home and saw the pool cleaner spent 4 minutes on our pool and didnt even brush the sides. It was a hassle every week. I was always promised a return call after leaving messages and no one has ever called back. Shock was added to my pool with no notification not to swim. the only way we knew it was added, was the empty bags floating in my pool. now my pool heater isn't working. I called to set up a service call and the technician said it was probably dirty filters. I told him they were supposed to be cleaned by their company. I canceled the service and let them know we would have our filters cleaned and pool service started with a more competent company. The very next day someone came out to clean the filters. in doing so, shut off the pool at my panel and never turned it back on. I have called for 2 weeks asking them to come figure out how to turn my pool and spa back on and was told 4 times they would take care of it. no one ever came out. I spoke with someone today that said to send an email so they can see if this is something they can help with since we no longer have pool service through them. THEY shut it off! They are associated with poolworks and will send a flyer to your house stating that they will do a free health inspection on your pool and show you how it works in hope of establishing a relationship. However, after I called I realized that it's a bait and switch and they wanted to charge me for what was clearly stated as a free service. If these guys are that dishonest to tell me otherwise while I am looking at the flyer in my hand than I can't imagine how they would be if I actually hired them to do work. Plenty of other reputable businesses to work with in the area. Keep looking. Update: The response from the company implies I was asking for a free repair. That was not the case whatsoever. I moved into a new house that has a pool I am unfamiliar with and found it convenient that this flyer arrives in the mail. I'm assuming they have some system that informs them when real estate transactions occur so they can begin sending false advertisements. Upon calling I was informed there would be a charge for the "quick inspection." I have been having abysmal service with these folks ever since I had them install a new Jandy variable speed pump last year. Three times just this summer it has quit working, three times with the exact same symptom. It takes them AT LEAST a week, if not longer, for them to send someone out. Without a pump, there's no filtration, no vacuuming, and the pool quickly becomes unusable due to algae growth. So it's pretty important. So here it is now, the third time, and I have to wait until Friday for the repair guy to come out, then it's two more days or so before the pools's back with clear, stable water. I've dealt with Patio since they built the pool in 2001 and always had great service from them. But something has clearly changed in terms of their responsiveness and ability to actually get the job done. read more

Patio Pools was going to replace a part of the cleaning system of my pool ..which the sales lady at the store said it is free since I am the original owner. An appointment was made for the tech to come over. I waited the whole and nobody showed up. I called Melissa and she said he's there. The following morning I received a message that the tech was there basing on the GPS records and that a picture was taken on my pool. I could not believe what's being told. In order to get to the pool which is 6 ft. fenced around with a locked gate, someone has to get to the locked gate front entrance of the house, ring the bell so someone will unlock the pool gate. I brought my complaint will BBB. They sent a of copy of the GPS records with my address with a total mileage of 50+ miles, (I live less than 10 miles from Patio Pools), sent a rusty picture of the part which is not my pool's, sent a picture of a fake address, not my address and accuse me of verbally abusing all their staff, I was only talking to Melissa. On top of it, they presented an old fake receipt of the part which they claim I paid for it, it is not free. I did not respond to this fake receipt, I am so stressed out. BBB closed the case with a remarks that I am unhappy. I hired another contractor to replace the cleaning system. After all what they have done, why will I trust them? read more

Several jet on one side of my spa started putting out markedly decreased flow. I scheduled an appointment from Patio Pools to take a look since they were the ones from whom I purchased the tub. After waiting all day, I called and was told the technician was "held up" at another job and wouldn't be able to make it. After expressing my displeasure at not even the courtesy of a phone call, suddenly a technician became available. He came out late that afternoon and spent an hour before finally telling me I just needed new filters. I went an purchased two new filters from Patio Pools and brought them home and installed them. Still no power from the jets. A waste of $130 tech charge and $90 for new filters. (Incidentally, while he was in there I asked him to check the ozonator. Turns out when they originally installed my spa they NEVER even hooked up the ozonator. And I was told "oh, it's old now so you have to pay to have a new one installed". Even though THEY never installed the original one in the first place. Anyway, I subsequently contacted E Konomy pools to come out and see if they could help since Patio Pools was worthless. Whithin five minutes E Konomy technician found that the problem was the slice valve had broken off from the handle causing that side of the spa jets to be blocked. He had to order parts and the next week came out and replaced all the blocked PVC and even hooked up the old ozonator, although he said it was likely nonfunctional after all this time. Bottom line is that Patio Pools doesn't stand behind their products. Customer service is a joke. No phone calls unless it's to collect money. Stay away. I know I will from now on. read more

We used them for 18 months and the service was great. The same technician came every week at exactly the time promised and kept the pool in perfect condition. Our problems started when he left the company. His replacement was awful, in and out in 10 minutes, so we asked for a new tech. They sent us someone who was supposedly one of their most experienced. Not so, very lazy, didn't do half of what they were supposed to, including cleaning the cannister filter. We cancelled service with them, and never even followed up to see why we weren't happy, total lack of customer service. I recently asked for an onsite estimate for a replacement rooftop solar water heating system to replace my current outdated one. When scheduling the appointment I was very specific; I indicated I would like a similar system, at no time did I request information on a "gas water heater" as I would never contemplate this costly method. I had the ladder ready to assess the project from the roof where the current system is placed. However, the agent (very cordial) never even got to the roof; he stated that Patio Pool does not install rooftop systems such as I have. While he was here I did ask about a "heat pump" type of system, which he said was not appropriate for AZ; but that Patio Pool does have gas heater systems available. So I was charged $95 and received no information about the system that I had requested. Someone is apparently not taking good notes, but a nice way to make a few bucks trying to sell you something that you hadn't requested. No positive outcome after calling their billing office. Patio Pools has excellent field staff who do excellent work once on the job. One gets the feeling, though, that the management is more interested in bookings and backlog than they are in creating satisfied customers. When working with them, I always get the feeling their personal convenience is more important than getting my job completed. As an example, at one point during the project I called to get a status and it is clear that our job had dropped off their board. It's disappointing because the folks who do the actual work are great. I can recommend Patio Pools if you don't care when the work gets done, how much it costs, and how much you will be inconvenienced by their lack of scheduling prowess. read more

We purchased a spa from Patio Pools & Spas, and were very disappointed with the installation. The lift for the cover could not be installed upon delivery since the cover was not the model promised by Andrew, Spa Manager at the 22nd St location. After several calls to him and a couple of weeks, it was determined that the spa company did not make the type of cover we were promised. We could certainly compromise and use the cover that was delivered, but the spa needed to be drained, moved about 14 inches to accommodate the way the cover opened, and the lift and cover installed. Numerous calls to Andrew produced sympathy and a promise that he would assist us. This was, after all, part of the tub installation that is included with the purchase. Needing to move the spa and installing the lift were only necessary because the store could not supply the type of cover that was originally promised. Ultimately, we gave up on Patio Pools & Spa, drained the spa, got a neighbor to help us move it (~500 lbs), and found the model of the cover lift with installation instructions online. Even a phone call from the store or their service department would have helped with that, but our calls to Andrew were not returned. read more

Just had an AWFUL experience at the main store on 22nd Street. To start with, they seem to screen applicants for the front desk job for a nastiness gene. They are always rude, but they built our pool and we get a discount, so we continued to go there. Today we went in to get some stuff. It's 104 degrees outside so we brought our dog into the front door. The friendly greeting was "you can't bring a dog in here." There were no customers in the store and 4 people standing around the reception desk wasting their lives away. We said what we wanted; instead of getting it, one of the slugs standing around said "you can tie your dog up outside." We had been customers since 2004 (notice the past tense). Our anniversary present to them is to cancel our weekly pool maintenance and never, NEVER go in their store again. read more

I'm glad I thought of looking at the reviews because I thought we did something wrong. Several of these stories are almost identical to what we experienced. Initially, we went into the Oracle Store and met with a sales person. He seemed great and very interested in working with us. After spending about an hour talking about our vision and different options, we made an appointment for him to come out and meet with us, at our home. At that time, we spent another hour and I was impressed at the ideas and how engaged he was in planning the new/renovated pool. Before departing Jim told us that it would take a little over a week to get bids and such - then we made an appointment to meet on a Saturday. I moved some previously scheduled activities to meet with him, only to get a text that morning, saying he was ill and would need to reschedule. Fine, I realize things happen. Despite asking several times that the salesman communicate with me, he kept calling my husband. Again, that could have been eventually fixed. We had then agreed to meet at another time but a few days prior to that, my husband gets a call/text from Jim saying that his boss needs to come out and assess the job so he would be calling to make arrangements. We never heard anything. While I am disappointed that the company isn't interested in building their business, I would rather have this happen than get into a problematic relationship. Needless to say, the honeymoon ended early in the game. Sad thing is that Patio Pools built our pool many years ago, and my husband raved about them.
