For at least 2 years I delayed finishing the hardscaping around our house (pavers and retaining walls). I decided not to ask back the original company who started the work -- a lot of their work was already failing, including a retaining wall that wasn't built with the most appropriate materials and started to sag within 2 years. I was tired of the inconvenience and also couldn't utilize at least half of the space around thehouse. I contacted Pathway Pavers and the owner, Marcos, responded within a day and started work within a week. He understands drainage and retaining walls, has knowledge of appropriate building materials and seems to have a great relationship with his team (who were also smart, diligent and hard working individuals). You'll ask about the cost -- it was not inexpensive. For ongoing renovation and construction projects, I have paid for 'the lesser of the bids'. Sometimes it turns out fine, but when something goes wrong, you immediately know your mistake if you simply accepted the lowest bid. With Pathway Pavers, I was in constant contact with Marcos. When the project ended, I had a few details that needed to be fixed (pooling paver area, loose pavers, etc.) and Marcos sent a team member back to address the issues. I appreciated that he wasn't an alarmist and could suggest different plans if cost, timing or aesthetics were an issue. If you are uncertain about what you want, open a dialogue with him and you will likely receive very useful advice. (Incidentally they do fences as well -- I also opted to have a fence built and it seems like it will last and looks as we had planned.) Usually when you are looking for a contractor, you start to feel like you have to compromise dream details to make it affordable. It's hard to find someone you can trust to get the job done and not just over charge you and then turn around and hire another company to do the actual work. We call those middle men, "paper contractors", for example Black Diamond is a company that hires other companies to do the work. I interviewed 8 companies and received crazy estimates, with alot of, "oh we don't do that, just pavers only". Pathway pavers are guys that actually do the work themselves, and they don't limit what they are willing to do. Some things can cost alot, but they don't over charge you. I wanted more than just pavers and they provided my dream backyard. My updated review. I noticed cracks on the polymeric sand that holds the pavers together that was done less than 4 months ago and also an area that puddles up when it rains. I contacted Marcos from Pathway Pavers to see if he would come by to check out and made the repairs but he responded that he will not repair it unless I pay for it. I had a chance to review the footage on my security camera and this is what I noticed: 1. Workers using my backyard and neighbor fence as their bathroom. 2. The leftover bed rock/sand should have been taken away by Pathway Pavers but was left hidden in the ground. 3. Broken down "Blower" equipment. (I let them borrow mine so they can continue). 4. Broken down "Power Washer" equipment. (never powered wash the pavers). 5. Not prepared for the day's work "short on parts" A. Drain pipe B. Electrical conduit and parts. (I gave them the parts I had at no cost so they can keep working) 6. Side gate was left opened, thus letting someone walk into into the backyard while my sister in-law was home alone. 7. Some pavers not very even, some higher, some lower. 8. Getting the sand ready for the pavers. They leveled the sand in the rain then started laying the pavers. (Not sure if that is good or bad idea when the sand is wet. I was told by Marcos that they don't do that when the sand is wet, this was said before the contract was written up.) 9. Instead of watering the sand with a fine mist of spray, they used a jet type sprayer. (That was my sprayer gun that had no fine mist setting). 10. They left out some rebar that was supposed to be installed. In short, the work that they did was sloppy and now it's costing me time and money to fix them. I do not think that "Pathway Pavers" take much pride in their work. read more

Asked them to come out and bid the job, when they arrived I explained that I had other companies coming over the next few days to provide bids on the job. Pathway Pavers is THE premier choice for large-scale landscaping projects, especially those that require pavers installation. We had a massive project on our property in SSF. The majority of the backyard required pavers with a new retaining wall on the side and the front yard required a whole new lawn with also pavers along the side of the driveway. Marcos was a true professional, as he gave great recommendations on the type of pavers that fit the look we wanted while within our budget (we went with catalina grana riviera). After the initial visit, Marcos came back for a second visit to take new measurements when we decided to change our scope, which not many contractors will do. Even while he had to leave the state for a family emergency, he made sure a great crew was available to complete the project instead of cancelling it. The crew, led by Rodrigo, were very efficient and made adjustments for aspects of the property we didn't account for earlier. They not only completed the project AHEAD of schedule, they even had time to add a small wall along the back side of the yard to separate the pavers from the fruit trees, capped with charcoal capstones. Marcos was very reasonable with pricing, even throwing in some things for free like leveling out the back corner of the backyard to make room for a shed, and not charging extra for front-yard pavers. We couldn't be happier with their work, which they completed in less than 2 weeks, just in time for a private event we hosted. Our guests gave endless compliments on the renovations.
