We needed a company that we could trust and we needed one quickly to avert potentially losing our homes and endangering residents. RWR was recommended to us by Miller Pacific Engineering, a geo-technical company contracted by the County of Marin for providing direction in these types of disasters. RWR came out to the site immediately that day, and Tony mobilized his crew and heavy machinery needed to do the job the same day. We only had six days before another rain storm was forecast to stabilize the hillside and ensure our safety, so Tony's ability to mobilize his crew so quickly and efficiently was critical. It is never easy to endure a disaster ... and when you find out homeowners insurance covers nothing it adds to the incredible stress. But Tony was amazing. He was available any time i called, whether it was early morning, or late at night. He was totally transparent in terms of costs and included every receipt in his invoice. No one wants to spend money on dirt, but I am thankful we had Tony and RWR behind us. They removed all the extensive brush from our hillside, trucked away 120 yards of mud and securely placed flexible piping on all drains emptying onto that hillside and placed plastic & sandbags across the area to secure it temporarily until we can put in place a permanent solution. It means a lot to know your house is safe and working with RWR and Tony Camacho really helped ease the stress of a hard situation. I'd recommend them to strongly to anyone in a similar situation.

I chose RWR - they were the middle bid, and Tony impressed my geologist partner with his expertise. RWR moved quickly once the city FINALLY issued the permit, and completed the job on time. The roofer came out three more time to seal and recheck but unable to find the area that leak. So I called Adrian from Ceres Construction to help and with in 2 hrs he is able to located the leak area and give suggestion to fix the issue. He is honest guy he could easily sell me a new window reframing but he told me only need to add a new flashing and that should resolved the leaking issue.

There are several critical characteristics of an excellent contractor, competence, communication,…read moreflexibility, dedication, cleanliness, and personability. Westward Builders have them all. From my first communication with Trevor it was clear that Westward Builders are retaining wall and drilling experts and they understand the challenges of building in Marin County. They helped us choose the best wall for the application and location. In our case we needed to replace a deteriorated existing wall with something robust enough to support a new structure, but without significant disruption to the existing adjacent garage or sidewalk. Trevor suggested a wall that matched the existing design but was capable of handling the significantly larger surcharge. We got the wall we needed and the appearance we wanted. Although our building permit was ultimately approved without requiring engineering of our wall, it was great to know Westward Builders could engineer a retaining wall if needed. With their drilling expertise, Westward was able to drill our piers to county design specifications, other contractors we had bid for the job planned to use portable augers and just dig "as deep as we can". Trevor was responsive and let us know what to expect. He was flexible in scheduling our job when delays with another contractor required us to move the project start date back. The Westward crew was outstanding, they arrived on time, they were friendly, they kept the job site tidy, and they tucked their equipment out of the way at the end of the work day. When, during excavation, we discovered some unexpected dry rot in the lagging adjacent to the new wall, Trevor was able to replace it at no additional charge since the drilling was quicker than anticipated. Our job was finished as specified, on time and on budget. I would strongly recommend Westward Builders to anyone needing engineering, drilling, or retaining wall work done in Marin, especially for sites with challenging access. I plan to work with them again if we need any future engineering or retaining wall work.

The project to rebuild our deck took 6 months from beginning to end and ended up costing 50% more…read morethan the initial budget proposal. When this started, I thought it could get done in under 2 months. We had to expand the scope of the project so that was some of the additional cost, but man oh man - it went from $100K to $150K for a deck. In other parts of the country, that's enough to buy an entire home. It was not easy to get a hold of the contractor and I would have to text multiple times over multiple days to get a response. It got done and the deck looks good so I'm thankful for that. Sharing this here so that folks come into projects with eyes wide open to the fact that things take way longer and costs, which are already astronomical, are likely to be even higher when all is said and done.
