I had three bids for the retaining wall I didn't want (but city insisted I have). In other words, it wasn't a project of joy for me. I chose RWR - they were the middle bid, and Tony impressed my geologist partner with his expertise. RWR moved quickly once the city FINALLY issued the permit, and completed the job on time. These guys are the real deal! We had a huge retaining wall (10' high x about 30' long) between our property and our neighbors that was literally failing. Had huge cracks, and had moved 14". We got three bids, surprisingly all quite close in price, which made me a little suspicious until I talked to a friend who had a pretty similar project (with a different contractor) and his was just about the same price. So we decided to go with RWR. We are just so pleased that we did. We recently completed a total gut renovation of our old home, and they were by far the best contractors we dealt with in the entire process. Always punctual, did exactly what they said, and when they said they'd do it. The work is impeccable, and their foreman Mauricio and senior supervisor Victor were just a delight. They cleaned up every day, and at the end, they left the property in exactly the condition it was when they started. I rarely like to leave totally glowing reviews, but this is one of those times. This company signed a change order with our Property Managers and then proceeded to just show up on their own schedule with zero notice. No schedule provided, just started digging for weeks on end. They still refuse to provide a schedule to the property managers. How do you work from home when someone is jack hammering 3 ft away from your desk? My poor little dog is so terrified. I had a major landslide between my uphill neighbor and my property that resulted in 7 dumpsters full of dirt hitting my house. Luckily the house was not damaged too severely. Our neighbor and I engaged our insurance companies and they came issued a request to RWR to review the repair plans to get a bid. We did research other construction companies but we decided to go with RWR based on their reputation and recommendations from the city planning department. The entire process was slow, but that was from getting insurance approval and city permits. I have to say that the office team did a great job in managing schedules, communicating with my neighbor and talking with the city planners to move along the project. Once the project got going, it was a quick mobilization with a very friendly and experienced team. The new retaining walls are sturdy and will outlive my house. Tony Camacho, General Manager, and Trevor at RWR construction managed our emergency project temporarily stabilizing our hillside after a mudslide in the Saint Jude neighborhood of Mill Valley from Feb 10-Feb 16, 2017. We needed a company that we could trust and we needed one quickly to avert potentially losing our homes and endangering residents. RWR was recommended to us by Miller Pacific Engineering, a geo-technical company contracted by the County of Marin for providing direction in these types of disasters. RWR came out to the site immediately that day, and Tony mobilized his crew and heavy machinery needed to do the job the same day. We only had six days before another rain storm was forecast to stabilize the hillside and ensure our safety, so Tony's ability to mobilize his crew so quickly and efficiently was critical. It is never easy to endure a disaster ... and when you find out homeowners insurance covers nothing it adds to the incredible stress. But Tony was amazing. He was available any time i called, whether it was early morning, or late at night. He was totally transparent in terms of costs and included every receipt in his invoice. No one wants to spend money on dirt, but I am thankful we had Tony and RWR behind us. They removed all the extensive brush from our hillside, trucked away 120 yards of mud and securely placed flexible piping on all drains emptying onto that hillside and placed plastic & sandbags across the area to secure it temporarily until we can put in place a permanent solution. It means a lot to know your house is safe and working with RWR and Tony Camacho really helped ease the stress of a hard situation. The job was completed on time and on budget! We had to replace a retaining wall which was about 60 feet long, so my wife went out and received four bids. Trevor from RWR Construction was the only one to come out and explain the bid in detail. Although RWR was not the least expensive, they were the most professional out of the four bidders. The construction of the wall from start to finish went smoothly. The job took seven days which was the estimated time on the contract. Scott and Tom, project managers, communicated with us every step of the way. We had one change order which we were aware of before the job got started. The change order was supposed to be $3200, but actually came in at $1600. Not bad in my opinion. When the job was completed Trevor V. came out again and personally thanked us. Each day we spoke with someone from RWR and each time we were asked "are you happy with the project?" Yes we are! I would recommend this company and their employees any day. Since I wrote the review the owner contacted me and was very thoughtful. I greatly appreciate his follow up. I posted the review with one star and I am going to upgrade it to a 3 star! I will not hold the company responsible for their estimator Tony. This was my experience with Tony. I spoke with another estimator from RWR and he seemed to me more than willing to make things right and offer good service. I am sure I would have hit it off with him and probably had a good experience with RWR. Thank you to the owner for being proactive and concerned about his reputation and taking care of his customers. I recently contacted RWR regarding bidding on my project. I contacted them through their website and was contacted right away. I email them and told them I was doing an addition and was looking for a bid. I sent over my drawing and they schedule an appointment. When they came out and looked at the job after showing him what I needed. I was expanding my kitchen and adding a garage. He said ok let go down and look at the rest. I said the rest.... I already did the other addition which was a pretty large job last year adding another level under my house. At this point he took an attitude, basically became disinterested and didn't want to talk with me anymore about the work I needed. He didn't care about me and didn't care about the project. He just wanted to leave because I think he was looking to make a lot of money and my project was a waste of his time. I was blown away by the attitude and he also said he wouldn't have done the work for what I paid. I said you I never said how much I paid for the work and he said probably under 50k. I actually paid just around 50k. He said, I would touch it for 50k. I was so insulted. read more

All the people at RWR were a pleasure to deal with - prompt, professional, and helpful. My project involved removing a driveway retaining wall and replacing the retaining wall support with pipe piles and an engineered grade beam. There was a bit of delay in the start date ameliorated by proactive communication. They started promptly on the revised date and completed the project ahead of schedule and on budget. Our Sausalito condo association hired RWR to do some important foundation drain upgrades at one of our buildings. This building sits on a steep hillside so foundation drainage is critically important for building stability. RWR rebuilt 100 linear feet of existing drainage and then added 110 LF of new drainage in the crawlspace of the building. Adding the new drainage was especially difficult because of the cramped space and difficult access. RWR did a great job: work site was kept neat, work performed during normal business hours, COVID protocols carefully observed, work proceeded efficiently, communication between the site Foreman and myself was good and the job completed ahead of schedule. Inevitably in a job like this, there were a few surprises but all were handled quickly by RWR. After the first day, our Owners hardly observed RWR was on site; nobody complained. I hope we have a no more drainage problems but--being realistic--we probably will. If we do then I will definitely ask RWR to bid on any future projects. Bill. read more
