The store is very well organized and the way it is set up makes perfect sense. Even though it was my first time shopping, I didn't feel overwhelmed going back and forth looking for stuff. Nameste Patel Brothers! This Indian supermarket does an OK job serving the large Indian community of North Dallas and Plano. This place is a pretty big spot to shop. The selection of lentils and legumes were pretty impressive. they have a lot (A LOT) of different types of rice. However, their frozen selection seems to be less than some of the smaller grocers, and the produce all looked a bit sad. Many of the products seemed to be kinda old, or dusty at least. They did a poor job of explaining what certain things are for us non-Indians, which would be appreciated. Some of the cheaper products didn't ring up at the right prices, and I got overcharged. They offer super low prices on some things, like you can get boxes of cookies for a nickel. But when it rings up at a dime instead, it's a pretty big price jump, percentage-wise! My favorite thing about this super market is the religious spot attached to the front of the place where people run in to do a quick prayer before shopping. read more

I find myself returning because they have a good selection of Indian spices for curries and marsalas. This store is not the cleanest, but it feels safe to stick with the packaged goods (just check expiration). The last visit, it smelled as if the entire store was wiped down with bleach... so much so that the bleach smell burned when taking a breath. It is always difficult to find spices here. It was my first visit to this location and I just loved it. It has a small counter for cooked veggies and snacks. And for the first time i got everything in my list. I had to buy some pooja specific things, and had asked help. The lady whom i asked help was so helpful and even gave me pan leaves from fresh set she was making. I'm not sure why the bad reviews. Maybe most people are not accustomed to Indian supermarkets? While this isn't the largest Indian supermarket I have seen (that title goes to World Food Warehouse in Houston, so far), this one is quite very clean, organized, and even well priced. Sure, maybe it's not as cheap as the Mexican markets, but they're very competitive with the American ones for sure. They have a good assortment of Indian products, frozen, fresh, and canned. They make fresh chapati (kind of like tortillas or, even better, rotis). The only thing I think they can improve on is the variety of Indian fruits since the produce section is heavy in vegetables. And so I came here to buy chikoo/ níspero/ sapodilla to make a shake at home and they only had the frozen version, and not the fresh ones. Still, I wouldn't mind returning if I needed to purchase Indian things, especially since practically this entire strip mall is Indian as well. read more

This place is messy, yes. But it is ALWAYS busy! Common sense is knowing that workers will not be able to keep up with the place. Customers could put things back in the rightful place or maybe pick items up that they drop or knock off shelves. Prices are decent, produce looks great. You do need to check expiration dates, just like at any other store. My family and I have always been welcomed in here. Half of the items we buy are from recommendations from employees or other shoppers. Someone is always willing to help. Especially since we do not speak the language or fully know about all the products. By far one of my all time favorite places to shop! read more

Visited this dump after a long time today around 1130am and encountered rude staff at their bakery section. Refused to give the Pav-bread that was stocked in their glass display, forcing me to buy the older stock on the counter. On insisting, the guy tried to dismiss me off saying it's not Pav but samosas and pretended he did not understand what I was saying. Upkeep of the place also leaves much to be desired, with boxes and vegetables strewn on the floor and nobody bothering to clean. Never again Patel Brothers, when there is choice of better quality produce at India Bazaar and the spacious Sabzi Mandi around. read more

This place is huge and has enough stuff to cross off your Indian grocery shopping list! All your authentic spices, rice, flour, and frozen goodies, you name it, they have it. It's all vegetarian though so no meats at this grocery store. Extremely dis-organized for a Grocery shop. When i went in one evening this past week, most of the shelves were empty and the workers were trying to stock up items. If you are running a grocery store, you better be stocked up for the evening rush that comes in. Items advertised on sale were all out, not sure if this was just a gimmick to get you into the store. I have only ever been here for the produce. A lot of it is fresh but there are some items that you kind of have to pick through to get fresh items. The good part of this place is the prices for the produce. You can't beat it for a lot of the fruits & vegetables. I have never tried things from the rest of the store because it is pretty unorganized and I have heard of the expired products. Sometimes the staff is rude. The stock people will kind of push you aside if they are restocking or sweeping. The cashiers are very robotic which I guess is understandable considering how busy it always is there. One downfall of this store is that they sell some very bad henna items that are actually toxic. I'm not really sure how stores get away with this. Be careful - don't buy pre-made henna cones - it could literally leave you scarred. read more

Came to this grocery store in hopes to find a spice that I'm not familiar with nor accustomed to using, but my recipe called for it and suggested it best be found at a store where the specialty is of Indian foods. I was excited upon entering when I saw the beautiful fruits vegetables upon m...well my impression diminished soon after my inability to locate the spice, and I asked for help. I found the first employee (male) to be incredibly rude and dismissive... he actually snarled as if I was bothering him, and just pointed to the spice aisle I'd just left, I asked if he was familiar with the spice and just refused to acknowledge me and kept doing what he was doing...ok asshole I thought, I'll find it. Language was not a barrier, I approached him as he was talking to someone else. Well there's so much good stuff packed tightly on the shelves that I felt I was missing the spice because I wasn't familiar with it ...so then employee #2 comes up the same aisle and while I'm searching, GREAT! So I ask if they have it, and he angrily and loudly says "I DONT KNOW", takes his hand and fans me off dismissively, and goes back to restocking shelves on the same damn aisle! Really? Asshole #2? and I'm just inquiring about spice? I'm not sure what the issue is here, although I have speculations...doesn't really matter, I will not be returning. I decided not to purchase the other items that I was about to impulsively buy. I refuse to financially support companies that do not respect ALL of their customers! Simple Customer service clearly is not of interest here, as well the bottom line of business is apparently not their priority. It was exceedingly far from a welcoming and helpful experience. To hell with this recipe if this is the experience to actualize it! Patel Brothers...you need to do better! Seriously! I had to give a 1 rating to post my review. I totally agree with the other yelpers that the store manager "Vineet" I believe that's his name is very rude to the employees as well as the costumes. I went to the store the other day and it was very busy, I understand it can get hectic to the staffs in that kind of situation but the manager doesn't seem to care at all, Was screaming at one of the employee, not sure what was the reason for but he was RUDE. Some old gentleman was standing with his cart, he simply pushed him towards the counter, he was just waiting for his son to get more stuff. 10/21/16 2:15 PM. We are from out of town. Stopped by this place to soak in all the amazing Indian products since we love traveling. Left with a major sour taste in our mouth. The own store Manager at this time had a very bad attitude. We paid with her at the register and didn't even acknowledge our thank you and had an attitude packaging our stuff. The groceries are really fresh there and that's the only reason why I go there, but besides that the staff is really rude and are always more busy chatting and talking amongst each other than helping the customers. Unfortunately, this review is going to the grocers rather than the actual target- Saloni Boutique. The other reviewer is correct. I can not believe how rude the owner was. To be honest, the husband seemed rather disengaged, and I was not offended by his actions, but Saloni seems to be VERY short-sighted in her business techniques. She brow-beats, yells, screams at customers. I have never seen behavior like that. A group of three women left the store looking morose AFTER they purchased an item. Another young lady got yelled at becasue she asked for a sari to be taken off the mannequin for a closer look. When she didn't purchase it, Saloni screamed at her and demanded $25 for all the "hard work" that would be required to put the item back. Unbelievable. They do not deserve your business. read more

Beware of old and expired items, especially when you find bugs in the rice and expired foods. The floor is sticky with dirt as well as the entrance , the front doors, the mats, and the vegetable racks. Prices may be cheap but remember the old adage - you get what you pay for! read more
