They just left my house yesterday and beat me over the head with the price. This company has ridiculous pricing. I was told $74.95 for a service call, if I higher them it will be just the repair cost. Everything they say they don't do, they do. I experienced it first hand. I explained exactly what I knew was possibly wrong and demonstrated what was happening in the panel box. The technician decided to offer me a flat rate fee of $479 to diagnose the problem including checking the entire panel box to ensure everything was fine, a one year warranty on the repair and then checking the two outlets in the kitchen that wasn't working on the same breaker. Every time I reset that breaker, it flipped right back off. The technician based his repair decision on my information and failed to perform a full diagnoses. He immediately decided he would change the breaker. I asked if he could ensure there was no loose wires. He told me that would be an additional $149 or $169. The nerves.......that should be included in the check or diagnoses. He also immediately pointed out that some of the white wires were discolored like a really light brown or tan and stated the panel felt warm. He was trying a scare tactic to make me feel he needs to replace the panel immediately by stating the wires were overheating which was not the case. I got a second opinion. When he removed the breaker, he stated it felt warm. I received it, it was barely warm. I want dispute the breaker may have needed replacing, but his extreme over charge for the service and attempt to oversell me for a new panel and accessories using fear tactics totaling over $5K is egregious. It took him all of 5 minutes to pop that breaker out and replace it with a new one. I have the old one because I watched everything. (Please observe because folks are taking advantage of others left and right. Sad, but it's true!) He was gracious enough to give me other models and the price to make me feel I was getting a deal on the model they quoted me. Once finished and I paid, he emailed me the receipt. I looked at my email after he left and noticed the warranty wasn't included, but he for sure included those items he tried to upsell me on and left out the fact he said the ground wire was loose, he tightened it. I called the office and spoke with two different people. I asked if he could send me another receipt with the one year warranty added. They told me they would have him send it. I get an email from Chelsea, President of Operations, directing me to the Terms and Conditions in small print circled with red ink at the bottom of the page. Immediately, I felt insulted, tested, but not defeated. I sent them a professional email that I am sure they didn't expect with a full refund requested. That was unprofessional and rude on top of the technician already not doing his job as he was supposed to and they declined to provide the warranty. No problem! I was refunded today. Then I was gaslighted by Chelsea when she said she was not happy with the things I ALLEGED about the technicians action and she would like a time to speak with me later today. However, she excluded her own actions because she is the person who chose to direct me to their terms and conditions at the bottom of the page circled with red ink. Then she had the audacity to be smart and say, "it applies to any customer that we perform work for." That is not telling me anything about the warranty information. I politely told her as the President of Operations, her actions are a reflection of the technicians or theirs of hers and we have nothing more to discuss. As far as I am concerned, the company culture is what it is and I know I don't have to spend my money with a business that has this type of business integrity. They had such a pleasant conversation with me and grinned the entire time. Disgusting.......Business is negotiating and compromising strategically; legal tactics! When you have to lie and do trickery things to get business, that's something different. read more

We have used this company for jobs small to large for about 14 years. We have never had a complaint. always outstanding work, professional, easy to deal with. In my opinion, they have fair prices. This is very skilled work and you get what you pay for. They recently installed a new electrival panel, a pretty big job and very important to get it right. Absolutely great work by Scott and Mason. I am so pleased, that is why I am reviewing. I am surprised at the negative reviews posted here, to me those do not even sound like the same company. I wonder if they are even real reviews. I highly recommend this company. read more

They came to start job. They of course gave me a quote that same day. I ordered them out of my house. To install a ceiling fan and replace the support box over $500. To replace a semi flush light fixture in foyer $500. I've been a designer in Atlanta for over 20 years and have never seen prices like these in my life. read more

Pat Murphy's Electrical I moved to GA about six weeks ago from RI and still don't know my house well. This morning the electrician was here. I asked him to check a socket that had been working and stopped working a few days ago. He said he could "trouble shoot" the problem and that it would, at the least, cost $285. Not wanting to fool around with electricity, I agreed. In under two minutes, he discovered a switch by the front door, connected to the socket and voila! We had flicked the switches on Halloween to turn on the front light for Trick or Treaters not realizing one of the switches worked said outlet. So, if you are looking for an electrician who charges $140 per minute, I highly recommend Pat Murphy's! read more

Be careful...they filter out bad reviews on many review sites including google reviews. Notice the big gap between review timelines. The good: they were friendly and professional, and I'm not questioning their quality. Price and service...needs improvement. Unfortunately due to them no-showing on my first appointment (which I made 1.5 weeks in advance), I had limited options because I was running out of time to get the job done. They no-showed and didn't call me to tell me they weren't coming. I had to call them. A week later, I was able to get a time that worked for them and for us. They came out, and gave an outrageous quote of over $1500 to do a few small jobs that in my opinion shouldn't take more than a couple of hours. I had them do the bare minimum of what I absolutely needed done and it was $325 for them; took the electrician 30 minutes to do the work. Since they refuse to tell customer their prices, here's the prices I was offered... hope this helps other customers. To install a light on the ceiling that was already wired, $411. The retail store was only going to charge me $199 to do the same thing. Installing a dimmer in a switch that was already wired and I provided the dimmer...$155. That's maybe a 15 minute job. I was told by others to ask the electrician to do all the small jobs at once because it will cost less. In terms of Pat Murphy...they didn't seem to understand that concept. Oh, and they don't replace dry wall.. I'm on my own to do that myself. I will not be calling them again. TOO EXPENSIVE! The other work that I didn't ask them to do, I saved $1000 and did it myself in less than 3 hours and I'm no pro. I watched YouTube and did the job following simple instructions. Additionally, they didn't put down any mats to prevent dust and dirt from collecting on my floor. We had to vacuum up the mess after. Compare to Best Buy Geek Squad who came do to a TV mount for me; they put down mats and took away all the packing material, offered to help me with some basic diagnostics for my wifi network for no extra charge and showed up on my original appointment date. read more

We were looking for an electrician and found a company online but they didn't have the permits to operate in our type of building so they recommended Pat Murphy Electric. I'm so glad they did! We called both Mister Sparky and Pat Murphy before we made our decision as to who we wanted to come out for an assessment and I just did not like how Mister Sparky handled the call. The people at Pat Murphy were oh so nice both over the phone and in person. They originally scheduled an appointment for the next day but called us when an appointment for the same day opened up. The electrician who came over to assess the situation was knowledgeable and checked many things before concluding what the issue was. He ordered a part that night and the next morning (literally 8:30am) he called, stated the price (over the phone and in an email) and said that another person could come over and install it. All in all our problem was resolved in a day in a half, and it wasn't even an emergency problem. Both electricians who came to our house were respectful, timely and very nice. I would highly recommend them and would use them again. read more

My technicians were great. I believe his name was Jerrold or Jerome. ( it's been a week since the job was done/apologies for not remember the names correctly). They were friendly, professional, helpful, on time. They went the extra mile to help, advised and explain the job and other "situations" around my home. They clean after they were done. I have to mention that I call early in the morning to find an appointment. I was lucky to schedule one for the same day around noon. The Job was done by 3:00 pm. I recommend this business. read more

Pat Murphy Electric, Inc. - Bathroom receptacle. - Electricians Near Me - Tucker, Georgia

Once again we had a great experience with this company. Had an issue with the AC which the AC company said was a breaker issue. Stan came out and did a through check of everything, including a cursory check of the AC connections. He was informative and patient, explaining exactly why it wasn't an electrical issue. Even so he still made sure the electrical breakers and box were safe and working. I greatly appreciate this company and their techs. This is our third time using them and we still have no regrets. Just stellar service. Side note for Stan: great guess on the real issue. The AC guy didn't attach the wires and the grounding blew the compressor! Maybe you guys should do AC repair as well! read more

I paid $49.95 for a quote to rough a two storey garage with small office. Cost of parts amount to $1500 worse case. I had a quote for parts and labour for $9500 with the suggestion it could take "as long as 2 days". That works out at $500/hour. I got a licensed electrician to do it for $1000 labour. They must think I just got off the banana boat.... Steer away! read more

A tree fell late evening on a Saturday and took the power lines with it, along with the meter/box from the side of our house. Our go-to electrician had just left that day for a week's vacation, but was able to give me a quote on what I should expect from another electrician. When I called the Pat Murphy emergency line early Sunday morning, they responded pretty immediately. I sent over pictures to the tech, Lucas, and he quoted me almost exactly what I was told to expect. Lucas was awesome--he showed up right when he said he would, was super pleasant to talk with and completed the job very professionally. We had power back by dinner time. If you need an electrician, call Pat Murphy and ask for Lucas. read more

AWESONE professionalism, workmanship, and friendliness!! Marcus is a gem and I would recommend Pat Murphy to everyone I know. I had two chandeliers and one ceiling fan to install, and another ceiling fan to "fix" after a handyman botched the job. Marcus cane over and took care of EVERYTHING to perfection! My house looks 100 times better with the new lighting. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! read more

I called the 24 hour emergency service and the guy could not have been less interested. Kept upping the price on the phone to discourage me from using him. I finally said "I guess I will call another electrician who wants the job" and he said "sounds good." I don't know about their skill but the customer service was less than impressive. read more

It said that they have emergency service and I called this morning (Thursday) to be advised, that the next appointment available is Monday.... That is NOT emergency service:( read more

UPDATE: PME wrote to me 3 days after this review saying the electrician who called me handled things badly but did not say if the prices were wrong; only that he shd not have quoted $2k site unseen. Said they wld not chg how they handle weekend calls. Not sure I believe it. Background: Called Pat Murphy Electric on a SATURDAY after a tree limb took down my main power line. I remember they were endorsed by the Home Fix-It Show. I wrote to the show telling them my experience and Dave sent me back a boilerplate email that was supposed to look like he wrote it to me personally and advised I would be lucky to do business with PME and that sometimes you have to spend money for good service. HA! Wish I could write a review of The Home Fix It Show. The electrician on call said it would be $459 for him to come out. That the job sounded like it would run about $2,000. I was panicked since I don't have that kind of money. He said if he came out and looked at it for the $459 they apply that to the price of the job. If I didn't like, I'd have to pay him $459 siting how it was Saturday and he was taking time out of his day, gas prices etc. THEN told me if I called on Monday it would be $54.95. Reliable Heating & Air came out within 2 hours. $89 house-call fee FOR A SATURDAY call. They fixed it for a grand total of $378. I didn't even know they did electrical (and plumbing) outside of heating and air but they do and THANK GOD read more

Great price and very professional. I was called ahead and arrived on time. The place was left clean and the installation looked great. I appreciated the education I was given about the scope of work. Will definitely use them again for any future needs. read more

Charged ~$150 for an initial quote. Afterwards, difficult to communicate with, not very responsive. The quote they did provide was not easy to decipher, and the electrician they sent found it difficult to describe the solution he had in mind. Markup on materials was borderline unreasonable (labor was $140/hr., which seems somewhat standard). We ended up eating the 150 charge and finding another electrician who is easy to work with, responsive, and intelligible. (Not too much to ask, and not very hard to find for $140/hr.) read more

Honest, hard working and reliable. I have used them many times and while they are not cheap, they know what they are doing with electricity, you want integrity. read more

Pat Murphy Electric stood behind their work 100% and then some. After a first visit, my problems weren't resolved. They were more upset than I was and sent a troubleshooter to find out why their work didn't correct my issues. After several hours of testing, tracing wires, checking circuits, etc., he reached his conclusion and made the necessary repairs. I couldn't be happier dealing with a company that cares this much about making things right. read more

While they did what I asked- installing a light fixture, the two men took 2 hours to complete the work, blaming the time on an estimate for additional lights in another room. I ended up paying over $300 ($150+ x 2 hours). I just now attempted to lower the chandelier with the extra length of chain that is attached for that purpose and the wire is too short- I cannot find extra in the canopy. It will take another call to another electrician to fix the problem. Overall, I think they purposely stalled to increase the work time. I will never use them again nor will I recommend. read more

Dishonest Electrician! We had our power go out at our rental property and needed an electrician to give an honest assessment of what was needed. As we were not at the property at the time of the outage, we had very little information as to what happened, just an account from our tenants. We called around and finally contracted Pat Murphy and Daniel Devoid was the electrician that came out. He then proceeded to tell me that the work would take over $5000 to complete and couldn't really produce much information as to what was wrong, only some babbling about the insulation around the wire being cracked. I paid the $54 service fee to be lied to! We called another electrician and he said no damage had even been done to the property. For whatever reason, the GA Power folks thought we had a faulty ground wire - turns out the Comcast installer used a green wire to rig up the Comcast install, and GA Power thought it was something else. An honest electrician would have pointed that out. A dishonest electrician, who gets paid on commission, will try and rake you over the coals. I am very disappointed that we made the mistake in calling Pat Murphy out to our property. Fortunately we only are out the service fee, don't make our mistake! read more

I have used Pat Murphy (and David Pope specifically) for numerous projects at both my own home and a rental property and have been pleased with both the quality of work and the technician's honesty and recommendations. Our rental is an historic home that needed meaningful work in the electrical boxes to bring them up to code. Pat Murphy was great about the work and while notifying me of optional work, never pushed me to do more than what was necessary for safe operation. They helped with various other work at that property related to its age, and always at a fair price. They've diagnosed and fixed a number of faulty outlets around my house and our technician has always graciously answered my questions and in that way, helped me complete some simpler projects on my own. I've had nothing but a good experience with them and just scheduled them for another small project at my home. read more

Pat Murphy Electric was tasked to add a new circuit to an an existing electrical panel. This included the installation of a childproof outlet, electrical wiring for this grounded outlet (less than 15 ft), and an outlet box. They quoted around 490 dollars for this work. Even with two installation technicians, this small project took about two and a half hours. They did not wear booties to prevent from tracking dirt onto my brand new carpet; however, they did vacuum the dirt associated specifically with their drilling/mounting efforts. They were knowledgeable; however, I believe they charged double the costs associated with the job. Beware, technicians from this company are exploitative. read more
