I recently bought a house that needed a good bit of rewiring and proper grounding of outlets. I sent out a request via Yelp over the weekend and got a quick response from Mike at Bryco Electric. That Monday, he came out to evaluate and talked through with us how to tackle the rooms in a way that would be the least intrusive when I did remote work from home (there were still moments of unexpected lost power and wifi but that comes with the territory of rewiring, and they did their best to be mindful of it). The work was divided up over a couple of days. We also added in a few extra recommended items along the way such as some recessed lights and a few new outlets. Mike is a hard worker and an honest guy who doesn't like to see bad electrical work (which, frankly, was the state of some of the existing electrical work). He was often assisted by a colleague or, on occasion, his son (good kid). They all did a great job and tidied up after each work session. Pricing was within the range of what I was expecting. I think residential electrical work can vary quite a bit given that no existing house condition is the same. Mike did a really large repair for my neighbor. A storm pulled the electrical connector from his house and GA Power would not reconnect until it was fixed. He had called a "chain" electrician who has lots of commercials and the price was really high and it would be a couple of days. I had an issue with my Kenmore washer/dryer. Called Sears Repair and the technician came out and said that the problem was with the electrical outlet, and that I should call an electrician. Called Bryco Electric because they were local in Doraville and Mike came out. He told me that the problem had nothing to do with the outlet and that Georgia Power could confirm that. Georgia Power came out and confirmed what Mike said. Then I called Sears repair and they sent out another technician who saw the problem and fixed it. Mike and his son/helper could not have been easier to deal with. Came when they said they would and gave me very good advice. He did not even charge me because he said problem was not electrical. Mike and his son are real nice guys and come with a friendly attitude. I had 4 issues that were brought up in my initial phone calls and texts to him. Mike and his son were able to take care of 1 of my issues completely and for that I appreciate it. With that being said, here are the challenges I ran in to with his service: he arrived late (he called ahead, though, so I appreciate that). I made reference of the exact time, 3 times, I had to leave my house for a lunch appointment and he made me late for that. Because he started and finished late, he did not have time to clean up the mess on the carpet and wood floor. I was not aware of a Saturday charge that is extra. He charged me for two hours when clearly he worked only 1 1/2 hours...and that's while I'm giving him and his son free soft drinks. I had to re-explain all of my 4 pressing issues and that took time off of the clock. They did not focus on, nor take care of my most pressing issue (electrical box). Again, Mike and his son are good folks and you can see other Yelp reviews praise them. However, paying 325 dollars to basically ONLY get my hallway lights fixed (he thinks he got more things fixed) AND make me late to my lunch appointment .....results in a bad rating. I called him to explain my displeasure and opened the door for him to rectify the situation and perhaps come by and work on some of the issues he didn't get to, but he did not pursue that and for that reason, Mike gets 1 star instead of 2 stars. read more

Had a problem similar to Barry's on an earlier review (lost power to bathroom outlets) but also the light and fan. However, all our GFCI outlets were working (I checked). The first company we called, recommended on NextDoor, stalled us for three days and then told us there would be at least a week wait, which doesn't work when the bathroom in question is needed by your children every day. Mike, who has 22 years in the business, left a family event on a holiday weekend to come over and solve the mystery, checking the breaker box, and then all over the house, including the 120 degree attic. He promptly founded the offending light switch, showed us the twist-on wire connector that had burnt when I plugged in a mechanical timer/nightlight (go figure), rewired it, and replaced a functioning but non-re-setting GFCI I had mentioned offhand. He was knowledgeable, professional, and reasonably-priced. After I asked for a quote for some replacement fixture installation, he gave me some great advice, too. Would highly recommend. read more

Two outlets in my bathroom failed after using a vacuum cleaner in there. I did all that I know: checked the breaker box and the GFI switches. Mike came out later in the day after his workmen got stuck on another job. No doubt he has a lot of experience as he immediately went on a "treasure hunt" to find an offending GFI switch. After a short time he located the flipped GFI on an outlet outside my front door. Kudos to his finding it as I never would have thought to look outside for an inside outlet (what were they thinking??). Very personable fellow, too. Cost as expected ($200) for a home visit up to 1hr. Was going to dock a star for the delay but it was same-day and jobs never go as planned until you get into them. It sometimes feels difficult to find an honest person to help with home repairs, but this is definitely one of the good ones. We had an appointment on a Wednesday at 5pm. The tech was not able to make it on time so we got a phone call at 4:30 that he would be late. I had to be somewhere so we rescheduled for Saturday morning. I cannot offer enough praise for Bryco Electric and Mike Gagnon. The electrical system in our house was badly damaged in the recent storms we had in Atlanta. I called Bryco Electric on Friday morning and they came out immediately. From my introduction to Mike, the owner of Bryco Electric, I felt immediately at ease. I worked in the residential construction industry throughout high school and college and now do a lot of construction related work in my legal career, so I know first hand the problems that can occur with bad contractors, and it was clear immediately that we were not going to have any such problems with Bryco Electric. Mike and his assistant immediately got to work diagnosing the problems we were having. Unlike other contractors I have dealt with in the past, Mike walked us through every issue, showed us visuals of the problems either directly or through photos he would take in tight spaces, and explained to us how systems worked and why the repair he suggested was necessary. It was clear from my first interaction that Mike's goal was simply to fix the problems, leave the electrical system better than he found it, and have us be comfortable with him and his team. Because the damage to our electrical system was extensive, the job took several days to complete. However, Mike and his team showed up every day when they said they would, worked diligently to get the job done, and kept in constant communication with my wife and I via phone and text message. Usually at least once a day I would send a text to Mike with some other issue we had discovered the night before and his answer was always "We will take care of it." His attitude and work ethic were awesome. I am somewhat of a security fiend and usually do not permit contractors in my home when I am not there. However, we were so comfortable with Mike and his team that from day one we gave them a key to our home and never thought twice about it. Being able to work and keep my normal schedule without having to be at home to supervise a work crew was priceless to me. At the end of every day, the house was left clean and secure when we arrived home. To top it off, Mike even let our dogs out to play in the back yard when they wanted out. It's a simple thing but indicative of the fact that he cares about his customers. After the conclusion of the major scope of work, Mike did not just send an invoice and consider the job complete. Mike came back out to our house after work hours to go through all of the work he had done. He walked my wife and I through each phase of his work and it was obvious he takes a lot of pride in his craftsmanship. We literally went room by room and system by system through his work so that he was sure we were pleased with everything he had done for us. Additionally, Mike was always willing to provide us recommendations of other craftsmen and contractors who we need to hire for work outside of his expertise. All in all, our experience with Bryco Electric and Mike Gagnon was excellent and Bryco Electric is an absolutely fantastic electrician to use in the Atlanta area. I have absolutely no reservations with giving Mike and Bryco Electric an endorsement and my highest recommendations. As far as cost goes, electrical work is never going to be cheap. However, I thought that Bryco Electric was exceptionally competitive on price. Mike knew that we had made an insurance claim and he could have used that to his advantage to gauge us. However, when I saw Mike's estimate of costs my first thought, which I said to him, was "Wow, that's a lot less than I expected." Our insurance company gladly signed off on his estimate and never gave us a bit of trouble with it, for whatever that is worth. As a homeowner, there is nothing you want more than to trust the people who are working on what is for most of us the most valuable asset we have. The highest praise I can give Mike and Bryco Electric is that while this work was ongoing, I never gave a second thought to whether the work was being done correctly or whether I should have left contractors in my home unattended. In today's world it is a fantastic experience to have a company around like Bryco Electric who takes pride in their work, delivers as promised, and makes a difficult and challenging situation easy to deal with. I just used Mike to upgrade my electrical service from 125A to 200A, install new high voltage wiring to an indoor and outdoor heat pump unit, and add another outlet to the garage. Despite it being a big job, Mike came highly recommended so I didn't bother getting other quotes and can't tell you how he compares price-wise. All I can say is that the prices were reasonable for the quality and speed that the work was performed (although there's always a bit of sticker shock on a job this big!). Mike was also very aware of the codes and needs for the inspection. As such, my house needed basically a brand new smoke alarm system to meet code which he performed for a reasonable fee. He even went above and beyond and added an additional smoke/CO detector in the hall outside our new baby's room without an additional charge. I would definitely use again for any electrical service needs. He DEFINITELY has a leg up when it comes to major service upgrades like mine because he has been doing this for so long that he knows and has a great relationship with GA Power and (at least Dekalb) inspectors and is able to work closely with them to minimize downtime. I think the total downtime for my panel replacement was less than 4 hours and the work he did was immaculate. As I said in the beginning, I can't say if Mike is the cheapest...but he does great work and in my opinion with a system as critical as the electrical, that is the most important thing! read more
