This company states they will provide a free estimate. An electrician drove to our house and refused to even look at our outlets unless we paid $300 (see attached photo). The electrician who came to our house was rude and insinuated we were looking for 'free work'.. um no, we paid someone else $270 to fix our outlets (cheaper than their charge) and they were polite and helpful. They even helped us troubleshoot before charging us anything. Do not recommend. read more

Let there be light... in the kitcheKept putting off this project for some time and wanted to call up the experts who do this type of work day in and day out. After reading some reviews and doing a little bit of searching I came across Lightening Bug Electric. They were local and had an easy way to get scheduled. Cody came out and took a look at our situation and recommend wafer LED lights to brighten up the kitchen and strategically place lights so that certain areas were well lit like the stove, dishwasher and coffee area. He set expectations and got us on the calendar. Hunter and Leyton showed up promptly this week, brought their own floor mats and shoe coverings and spent a couple hours doing the install. We have been so pleased with the work we wished we'd found Lightening Bug earlier. We had gotten estimates in the past and it was all over the board but want to say the folks at this company care about taking care of customers. Our kitchen looks amazing and we'd definitely hire them again for our next project. Cutting a hole in the ceiling and fishing lights thru joists in not a simple job although one can do it themselves, I'd recommend calling up the experts who are licensed, insured and experts in handling electrical work. Lightning Bug Electric responded super quick and got us set up for service right away. Steve and his apprentice were beyond great! If I could give them 10 stars I would!! They immediately identified the problem with my pool light and timer, rerouted some electricity, suggested I get a color-changing bulb to replace the dead bulb, continued working while I ran around the corner to pick up the bulb, replaced the pool light, and installed a new timer in 90+ degree weather! I kept the water and Gatorade coming because they were working hard & sweating bullets! Steve is hilarious and personable - fellow veteran - and even invited me to his American Legion Post for the karaoke night he hosts! His apprentice (sorry I can't remember his name) was very polite and he will be well-trained working under Steve. The work was excellent! The cost was reasonable! Lightning Bug Elec (LBE) charged $0 for an estimate on all repairs unlike the other company we called out to look at our jobs. LBE tech's, Michael and Leyton, professionally installed 2 outdoor outlets, 1 indoor outlet, a Ring floodlight/ camera and repaired a non functioning outdoor shed outlet. To be noted, they installed the indoor outlet when the previous electrician advised that it couldn't be done w/o damaging the plaster walls of our 100 yr old house (they suggested that we install a floor outlet to the tune of $1200). LBE was able to install this outlet quickly with no damage to the walls. Price for all five installs & repairs was as expected. Both Michael & Leyton were friendly and courteous. They even helped with locating the breaker for an outdoor floodlight install that I DIY'd. Highly recommend Lightning Bug. read more

Our living room chandelier had stopped working so we called our go-to electricians- Lightening Bug Electric. On the same day we called, we were visited by one of the nicest, most efficient, professional electricians I have ever met. Clay McKeel, our LBE electrician immediately found the lighting problem and determined that the lamp could light no more; it had reached the end of its safe operation. I expected that Clay would ask us to find a replacement light, purchase it, whereupon he would return to install it some days later. Not at all....Clay helped us to find a perfect replacement lamp on line, then drove to the local store to purchase the lamp. Returning within a half hour, he installed the new lamp, insuring that it was adjusted properly in the ceiling, then made certain that we were happy with the installation. Wowsers! AND the price for the installation was very reasonable. Clay McKeel- a super nice guy, a professional, gracious, authentic. Bravo LBE for sending Clay to do work for us. We had misc items that needed attention in our newly purchased condo. Overall, the Lighting Bug tech that came out was very thorough. He went over the entire system and checked to see if everything was safe. It's a new place and we needed that assurance. Once done, he sat down and explained what was wrong including some issues we had already noticed. We discussed a plan of action which I had the option of doing or not doing, Basically we got an estimate and then up to us on what he took care of long range. Also while he was here, the tech estimated what it would cost to install under kitchen cabinet lighting. He came up with a plan to install the lights that would be controlled by a wall switch. Fixed: GFI circuit in bathroom was repaired and our three ceiling fans were re-coded so that one remote did not disrupt the other fans. He also added a dimmer on an existing light circuit and corrected dimmers that had been installed backwards from previous electrical work. Cost for this visit was about $700, and we felt well worth it. The tech was knowledgeable and you don't want to take shortcuts with your electrical work! read more

EDIT: Even though I had a poor initial experience with Lightning Bug Electric and trying to get them to come out and give an estimate, they really did a good job on following up with me. The service manager, Bobby, called and seemed genuinely concerned that I had such a bad experience and wanted to make it right. I was able to get an estimate over the phone and Bobby was nice enough to give me a discount because of my experience. I can't comment on the quality of the work yet (as I haven't had anything done), but it seems their customer service is pretty good. ORIGINAL: Tried to get these people out to give me an estimate and they originally gave me a time range of 10am-12pm. I had to drive in from over an hour away to get to this property to meet them. They missed my appointment completely and I had to call them several times. Every time, they pushed back my appointment 30-45 minutes. Finally, they told me they couldn't arrive till around 2pm. That's 2 hours later than the latest time given and 4 hours of my time wasted. I wouldn't trust these people to be on time whatsoever, avoid them! read more

I had four issues: a new candelabra to replace an old one, a bad switch, a bad socket and a kitchen breaker that kept tripping. The electrician came, examined the 4, and gave a quote right away. The light was installed (and he took the old one), and the switch and socket replaced. He inspected the panel as part of their normal service, and found that prior to my owning the property, someone replaced a breaker with a spacer, but left a wire hanging, uncapped. He fixed that. The kitchen breaker was already at the max for the wiring. He found that there were 2 breakers controlling counter sockets. He suggested I plug one of the amp gobbling appliances into the other circuit, because upping the amps would mean new wiring. Great service. The conversation with one of the receptionist was extremely off-putting when I asked for rationale... smh My husband and I are both retired military veterans and was looking to support a veteran owed company. This company is totally professional. The technician showed up on time, was actually early, and it was a real pleasure to work with him on the lighting in my kitchen. He was extremely knowledgeable and was able to advise me about the technical aspects of lighting, as well as what would be appropriate for my decor. He explained everything clearly, and was very generous with the time that it took for me to make the decisions. In addition, I had more than one problem that needed to be dealt with. I am extremely happy with the results and feel that my home is safer because he was able to fix the electrical issues I had. I highly recommend this company and will certainly not hesitate to use them again. I was in need of 2 chandeliers to be installed with 19' ceilings. I was told the minimum would be $425 with a $30 trip charge. That was fine with me. I made an appointment to get a more accurate quote. When the technicians arrived and presented me with a quote I was in shock. The $425 was just a 'ladder fee'. This is per light install. So it would have been $850 minimum for the job, not the $425 the company originally told me. If I would have know this I wouldn't have waisted my time and the technicians time to come out, plus I would have saved my $30. I feel the company mislead my from the beginning just to get my $30. I will never use this company, very unprofessional. Oh, the final quote was over $1,500 to get 2 chandeliers installed. I do have 19' ceilings, but the quote seemed outrageous. read more

Great service! My service rep/tech was Steven. He was very professional, knowledgeable and courteous. He noted & showed me a couple of improper wiring (and potentially dangerous conditions from the previous company that installed by breaker box (under sized wiring for 20A circuits)) and corrected it. He genuinely wanted to make sure that everything was properly up to safety code/standards. He installed a new 14-50 outlet for a ev charger and the quality of workmanship was superb. I will use them for my upcoming projects, specifically asking for Steven for my technician. Lastly I tip my hat to the owner; during finishing up the project we chatted for a while & Steven relayed how the owner treats his employees so well. But from start to finish I did not feel they valued me as customer. small requests like stop calling to see if we were available earlier than our scheduled date or to call me, not my wife were ignored - all week long till our scheduled appointment. So that was just annoying. Then there is the $300 just to show up fee. I feel if you have a pretty solid minimum fee that should be mentioned when setting up the appointment - not when tech walks in the door. So my specific repair went like this. I called and said "my circuit break trips when we turn on the oven". The tech showed up and mentioned the $300 thing before he would talk about repair. I just want it over so i say okay. He turns on oven, circuit breaker trips. He does it again and says "yep the circuit breaker trips when you turn on the oven". $300 to tell me what I told them a week earlier setting up appointment. So they didn't do anything they didn't say they would. He was very clear about minum charge before he would walk in the door so I did pay it. But I personally won't ever call them again. read more
