    Pesto pasta with potatoes
    Thomas G.

Walk up and takeaway homemade pasta ready to cook or fresh and hot for a nice grab and go meal. Grab a medium box of pasta and head to the Spanish steps to dine. Menu changes daily with only two options of pasta. No seating for dine in. Take away only. The staff are friendly and services is quick. Reasonably priced at 5 euros for a pst and 1 euro for a water.

They only have two options on the menu: vegetarian or pork. We got one box of each to try. The vegetarion one had a stronger pesto flavor while the pork one was similar to carbonara. At 5 dollars a box, it is definitely a great quick eat!

Crazy cheap pasta shop near the Spanish Steps! At lunch time, they have 2 types of pastas available for €4.50 as of August 2022. The portions are pretty good and service of quick and efficient, pay with cash or card. This place is mostly takeout only, but you can stand around the pasta shelves to eat as well (no seats). Although located near the steps, please don't eat there or in front of the shops around it as to not block the traffic and potentially also get fined for eating at the steps. The pasta itself is actually a bit so-so. The carbonara one was cooked perfectly al dente but a bit saltier than I would like, but otherwise delicious! The spaghetti one was a bit overcooked to be more of a noodle, and the sauce was delicious but lacked a bit of that something-something (and some salt). I think the best taste would be to combine the two when we ate it. However, its hard to complain about €4.50 pasta! Try your luck at this place, I saw some other pastas from different days that look tastier and more interesting!

Located right next to the Spanish steps, this spot is very convenient if you are looking to grab something and go. I found it difficult to find quick and easy food places (other than markets) in Italy, so this was a great find. I was in and out in 5 minutes. They tend to have 3 different pastas on rotation which include a veggie, seafood, and meat pasta so there is something for everyone. The pasta wasn't very warm but still tasted pretty good and the location was great. Got to eat and admire the Spanish steps/Rome while people watching. Great time!

In 2017 I got in line, stood near the window, ate the pasta I chose and then got right back in line to get the other pasta. Eight euros later I was happy and a little sleepy, but I was happy and sleepy in the Piazza del Popolo y'all!!

    "Zucchini" pasta. Absolutely disgusting.
    Lynn T.

Really gross. There are plenty of cheap take-away pasta places in Rome that are great value, but this was not it. Went in at 9 PM, ordered the "zucchini" pasta. Very strong fish/seafood flavor which was revolting. The couple before me ate a quarter of their zucchini pasta then tossed it and left. The pasta also tasted extremely starchy. Also, their customer service needs some work. The employee was not directly rude to me, but barked at a few girls who came in after me asking for an additional fork. He did not give the extra fork. If you're going to come here, come when there's a line out of the door and pasta is being constantly replaced. If not, avoid at all costs.

I come to this place every time I'm in Rome because it is still the BEST DEAL for DELICIOUS PASTA! Food/Drink: They only serve 2 selections of pasta when it comes to lunch time at 1 pm. Every day the selection changes and today it was a tasty carbonara and a spicier version which I'm not sure what it's called. Both were absolutely delicious since the pasta is handmade every morning so it's super fresh. This is pasta in its most simple form and it has worked for them all these years! Price: Only 4 euro per serving. Atmosphere: Great little hole in wall near Spanish Steps. They're famous for their delicious and cheap pasta. This place resembles a take-out shop since there are no tables but there is a counter all around the inside of the shop with bottles of water where you can serve yourself! Be prepared for a line at lunch time! Tips: must experience at least once in Rome, you won't regret it!

Visited: Spring 2019 Thoughts: Their lunch service starts at 1:00 PM and there was already a lineup that had formed. We probably wait around 10 minutes before getting served. There were 2 different types of pasta to choose from, so we got one of each. I had really high expectations, but sadly both pastas were a disappointment. They do have complimentary wine if you decide to stay and eat inside. However, keep in mind that there are so seats, so you have to stand and it gets pretty crowded and squishy.

Fresh pastas of the day, 8 euros for both. Good pasta but a GREAT bargain meal.

This place is good but not great. While visiting Rome last year, we saw the queue and hopped in it. The line was crowded with locals and a few tourists and whenever a place is predominantly frequented by people who live nearby, you know it's a legit food place. Basically you get two choices that change every day: Pasta #1 or Pasta #2. It's the luck of the draw what will be on offer, but the pasta is fresh and made in house every day. Each plate costs 4 Euro, making for a cheap and tasty meal in Rome. Our choices were both tube pastas (bummer, I was hoping for some thin noodles or tortellini): ziti pomodoro and a rigatoni carbonara. We ordered a plate of each. The pastas were good but certainly not the best I've ever had. The sauce was mixed with the pasta and barely coated the noodles. I know this is the "right" way to eat pasta but I could've used just a teeny bit more sauce. The portion sizes were large and folks who aren't big eaters would have no problems sharing one plate. This has to be one of the best dining bargains in all of Italy. There's hardly any space in the restaurant but there are a few small counters where you can stand and eat. Most likely you'll have to take it out and find a spot on the street to eat standing up (which isn't exactly smiled upon in Rome). I'll try this place again next time I'm visiting my favorite city, but I think there are far better fresh pasta options in town.

I've known about Pastificio Guerra due to my research on cheap eats in Rome. However I only stumbled on this place on the last full day of my Rome trip. This pasta shop is very noteworthy in an area near the Spanish Steps: most businesses here are your luxury brands and the restaurant prices here reflect this. Like an oasis in the middle of the dessert, this is an oasis in the area that charges €4 for a fresh serving of pasta. To keep the prices that low the shop is small, so effectively what they are serving is to-go pasta. To-go pasta is packaged in plastic containers and include a fork. They also keep their menu very simple: only two choices of pasta daily, one meat option and one vegetarian option. The cup of wine is allowed only if you are eating there and signs are posted stating that you can't picnic in the Spanish Steps itself. You're only paying €4, you can't get everything. I arrived on a Sunday close to about 12:40 and the line was starting to form. By the time it opened the line was close to about 40 people but it does go by quickly, especially if you only have 2 choices. The meat option was tortellini amatriciana. Ordering was hassle-free. I ate across from the entrance to the store. Pasta was filling yet I was able to save room for dessert by walking towards my hotel. Moral lesson: cheap and tasty food will always be there if you know how to find it. Even the locals who work in the area have to be able to eat somehow.

Mushroom pasta~ portion is decent and filling and sooo good

Best pasta-to-go you'll find in Rome. They serve two types of pasta made fresh everyday. Different selection daily so if you eat carbonara here one day don't expect it to be there the next day. I come here often bc the portions are filling and it's fresh handmade pasta for €4!! Cannot beat that for quality pasta. If you're coming here for lunch I recommend getting there a little earlier if you want to eat sooner. Line starts to form before 1pm and @1pm the doors open. But if you can't come here earlier it's fine bc the line moves pretty fast

Good for an inexpensive dish of pasta. Daily offering of two pasta dishes, no doubt made using the same dried pasta for sale on the shelves lining the walls. I tried both mushroom pasta and something sausage-filled with tomato sauce: both were passably good. Typical of cooking dried pasta, some of the flat noodles stuck together during cooking. Food is served in a plastic take-out container and if you stand and eat in the shop (there's no seating) you can have a beverage at no extra charge, including wine. The woman taking money was super-nice, though I'm no entirely sure what she was saying as she didn't utter a word of English, my ear for Italian is poor and the shop and street were noisy. A good, quick bite for €4!

Literally the best pasta I have ever had in my life. It's just a coincidence that the food was cheap, came with free wine and the owner is a sweetheart!! I suggest getting here 10-20 minutes before store opening because the line can get long. And definitely ask for wine with your pasta!!

I had possibly the most amazing chick food pasta a girl could imagine. Girls know what girl food is. The pasta in Italy is just better -obviously. But then put all sorts of girl flavors on it like Lemon and Orange, just lightly enough, zest with a small hint of cheese-..... omgosh. Yes, yes, and yes. Need my hubs to replicate at home. He is going to be busy trying to perfect this. Tagliatelle with orange and lemon parmesan. This was it. It was the best. Everything else we ordered was amazing as well. Wait outside. They don't have a sign telling you to wait, no server telling you to wait. You wait out there, wondering if you're in the right place, but then people stand behind you and you're like - oh! I'm here. This is the place. There are possibly 4 tables inside. It's small. I read about them being rude- we did not have that problem. In fact, they made a mistake and we kindly let them know we ordered something else- they corrected it and were nice about it.

So happy we did as this place definitely delivers. There is seriously like 8 tables in the dining room so expect a wait in line but trust me, it's worth it. We waited outside for about 25 minutes. They do take your order while in line so the wait for food (once you do get a table) is abbreviated. Out of the world pastas and the pistachio tiramisu is seriously out of this world. Inexpensive table wine rounds out a great meal. This is the type of place I love to go to. It's quaint, zero pretense and delivers on its food. A great find!
