This is a restaurant but they have a huge selection of baked goods as well as the famous Portuguese custard tarts. Give it a try, for me it was the second best tart I tasted on my visit to Lisbon. They also can make an excellent cappuccino or latte for you and the price is very reasonable. read more

This is one of the many restaurants/cafes on Rua Augusta, a lively area in Lisbon. Food was either just ok or a total miss. Waiter was not very attentive. When it came to pay, they requested the one paying to go inside even though they have a portable machine which seemed odd. They also said that tipping was required at 15-20% even though that is not a thing in Europe and not a single other restaurant in the area we previously dined at even hinted at this being a thing. It's evident that they try to take advantage of the tourists frequenting the area. I do not recommend this place. Dozens, if not hundreds, of other options in the area. read more

Had a cafe with a nice bolo de chocolate and pastel de nata - pretty good for a busy tourist area. Good selection and quick service.

Stopped for a cup of coffee and an almond tort and a pasteles de nata. This is our first tasting of the pasteles de nata, so our review of how good these are may change, but personally, we thought they were great. The custard was creamy and the crust was flaky. DO NOT EAT HERE!! The least I can give is a 1 star! I would give zero if I could. I came into this restaurant because it looked good, but the food was terrible. We ordered 2 paellas, they were both nasty (we ate many at other restaurants in Portugal and these were awful! We were helped by Anthony, who was great until I complained about my food tasting bad. He asked if I wanted something else and I chose a pasta (wasn't too bad but not a even a 6/10). Fries were cooked in old oil for sure.. I asked for my bill at the end and he didn't take off any of the bad food we had and left without a second bite. The service wasn't good at the end. Again, do not eat here. read more

A large range of sweets and pastries. The Pastel de Nata has a nice crispness, and worth trying. Actually, try a bit of everything - it's hard to go wrong! You can eat inside, or get takeaway to snack on while waiting in the queue for the tower, or to enjoy by the seaside. read more

When in Portugal you must try the pasteles de nata so we ventured in for a try. I had tried them earlier at a different shop so I already knew what they were like. The custard is sweet and delicious as the pastry is flaky and off the chain. It was a little too "eggy" tasting though. The cafe con leche was good, hot and the sugar pack was enough. I tried to get them to sell me the coffee mug but the manager would not budge. We also had a cherry tart which I did not care for. The crust was thick and not flaky at all. The custard tasted like orange but the glazed cherries on top was good. We also tried a buttered croissant which was delish!! I love Lisbon!!! read more

This restaurant served the worst meal my wife and I had in the 10 days we spent in Portugal. For 15 euro they served a meal of mostly filler rice with 4 pencil eraser sized pieces of chicken, though their meal picture showed several thumb sized chicken. For 14 euro they served filler again with one sliced tomato. They appear to cater more to sweets, which are not the reason Portuguese are thin. Prices along rua Augusta are twice elsewhere, yet only this restaurant is what economist Tyler Cowen would call a rent seeker -- charging higher prices without value. So I'm in Lisbon I should order one of their famous cod dishes. Right? I love fish, having grown up in Connecticut and caught my own cod. Cod is my favorite fish. I vacation on Cape Cod! I've eaten it my whole life. So they bring it out and it's stuffed and fried sitting in a nice bed of greens. Looked pretty good in the picture. The stuffing sitting on top of the fish is burnt! And I say that out loud. My nice waitress had understood my English when I gave my order. There was no response and the she disappears. Well maybe they know what they are doing so give it a try. Pick off the burnt stuffing and under neath it's ok. The fried fish is cooked to death! The greens are bland but good. the waiter appears and asks me if it's good and I say no its not. the fish is way over cooked. Nothing happens. Now this is Lisbon not the US so I pick away at it eating all the greens and some of the fish. I stop eating push the plate away and wait. A new waiter comes over and I-repeat my complaints. His English isn't to good but he motions me to follow him. I gather my bag and jacket turn around and he's gone. I wait. He comes out of a door and motions again. I follow him inside thinking he' or the owner will make amends because you always pay the bill at the table. Nope. He hands me the full bill and says the service is not included in the bill! The bill is not even itemized. Rick Steve's says service is automatically included in the bill. No one in Lisbon, Spain, Italy or France ever demanded a tip and I'm a regular 20 percent tipper in the US. Nope. No service no tip. read more

Nothing to love... my husband had the pasta, he liked it. I had a paella. Worst paella of my life. I'm learning not to order "natural juice" when I travel. I'm going to stay with bottled water instead. Prices are high I guess because of location. Food looks delicious on the menu, big selection too. But it does not taste as good as it looks. read more

Wide variety of pastries to try! Their custard tart was pretty delicious. You can eat inside, outside or take away. The breakfast here is ok, nothing amazing. I want a fan of their latte though, it was a little watered down. It does take a while for the server to serve you, so be patient. read more
