A classic Italian spot doing all the right things. While in Cruces there aren't many spots to eat, but this should be one of them. We ordered the following: -fettuccine Alfredo, delicious and so creamy -cheese raviolis, love the marinara -green chili lasagna, my partner really like it (has meat) -house salad The complimentary bread is so soft and warm. So many vegetarian options! Pet friendly patio. Service was very friendly and quick. No servers here, but you don't need it. Just order at the counter and pick a seat. Food was ok. It is self service, which I am not a fan of, but wanted to try the food. The ambiance is casual and just ok as well. You order at the register and then, if dining in, go seat yourself. You also need to grab your own tableware. Had the sausage & pepper with spaghetti. Sauce is a bit loose and needs garlic and basil. Just something more than tomato flavor. Pasta was overdone for being an Italian restaurant. Came with a small piece of plain bread. No garlic or olive oil at table, so that was disappointing as well. We also got the combo pizza. Crust needs to be cooked more in the center. Good amount of cheese and alot of mushrooms. The outside of crust had good flavor. Will stick with Lorenzo's in town, but I did feel obligated to try this place, as an Italian myself. read more

In town for work. Already tried everything Mex and BBQ. Decided to try something new. This was the spot and it did not disappoint. Small quaint local Italian. The lasagna with Green Chile was amazing. Didn't think they were gonna be able to pull it off but they did. The fresh baked bread was an added bonus. One of the Best Meals I had this trip. I don't know who's leaving these 4/5 star reviews but apparently you've never eaten real Italian food. This isn't real. It's bland tasting, alfredo and red sauces are watery and produce zero desire to keep eating, especially out of the plastic container they are served in. Plastic? My Italian ancestors are rolling over in their graves, as are the Pastaggio ancestors. The drive to El Paso is short, use your money there on the few Italian restaurants there that at least deserve a 4 star. I guess when you grow up not eating authentic Italian food, you would give it 4/5 stars. read more

While the fresh bread is good, the pastas are a bit lacking in my opinion. Still good but nothing to write home about.

I wish there was an option for 10 stars. The service was incredible, friendly staff and our large order was 100 percent correct. The green chile lasagna was amazing and there were at least 6 large pizzas on our tables at the start and hardly anything left at the end. We had three young children in our group and they gave the kids pizza and spaghetti two thumbs up. One person had a salad and it was a large serving and all the ingredients were very fresh. We wanted some Italian. This is a takeout focused place in the warehouse district. You have to order out front and there is apparently indoor seating around the corner and some outdoor seating. The woman at the counter seamed uninterested so service was blah. Because the ambiance was not conducive to staying we ordered a pizza to go. We got the special with sausage, green peppers, red onion and mushrooms on the regular crust and took it back to our hotel. Crust was really good soft bread. Not chewy. Lots of toppings. So much so that not all the cheese was melted all the way. New Mexico green chilies gave it a nice little kick. I give the pizza a four and then took off a point for ambiance and service. I dropped in at Pastaggio's today to try their pizza. I have to say I must lower the overall rating for this restaurant because the pizza was really sub-par. In the past I have enjoyed their lasagna and their Italian sausage and meatball sandwiches, but the pizza today was not very tasty. After I ordered the pizza was baked and out on my table in ten minutes. That must say something. The bottom was a little burned. The dough was not flavorful and the texture was off. The cheese was not flavorful, the sauce was not flavorful, and the meat toppings on my 14 inch regular crust pizza were not good. In sum, there was nothing about this Pastaggio's pizza that I liked...and I like most pizza. I will never order this "C-" pizza in the future. The overall dining experience at Pastaggio's I must lower to three stars...meaning mediocre. Sorry to have to say this but that pizza had nothing about it that I liked. Period. Pastaggio's I believe has problems with consistency; you never know what you're going to get. The food might be good or it might not. Who knows? read more

Choice of thin or regular crust; lots of toppings available including New Mexico favorite green chilies. Take out is usually prompt. Lasagna and fettuccine with green chile white sauce. They arrived in black plastic boats. They looked strangely familiar, like frozen weight watcher meals! Good grief. We had to get up to get our forks, napkins and water. Self serve. When we finished we gathered our trash and tossed it. Why did I need to tip again? The food was actually very good. We were in town for a HS band competition and found this place on yelp. Decided to try it out-ordered a pizza to go since there isn't dine in service. When you walk in the door the smell hits you-really good smell. All those working were friendly and helpful. While waiting on our pizza, there was a steady line of customers coming through (good sign) Sauce had good flavor, meatballs were flavorful, not just 'beef-y' Even the people in the elevator at our hotel commented on how good it smelled! read more

This isn't really a restaurant unless you consider eating in your high school cafeteria a dining experience albeit with a nice mural on one wall. It is just a carryout establishment. Didn't read all the reviews closely enough I guess. The food wasn't bad just not very good. We ordered the Aggie pie. There was so much garlic it was impossible to taste any of the other ingredients. Ordered take out of meatballs and sauce. Keep in mind my grandpa had his own Italian Restaurant and made everything from scratch. From sauce to meatballs and his pasta. The service was okay and the line grew behind me. Orders started coming out - all take out, and we were alone. She realized it and soon came back with the order was warm but not hot. (Should have been a hint) Got home and opened the items. Was meat sauce, not marinara. Meatballs were small. Heated them, made some pasta. Not very good meat in sauce had a freezer burn taste as did meatballs. I've had their food in past, wasn't bad. This wasn't good. Obviously not quality controlled. We enjoyed a meal here last Friday evening with friends. The food was hot and delicious. I enjoyed my spagetti and meat sauce with green chilis very much. Everyone raved about their entries and the staff and servers were very knowledgeable and friendly. On a road trip with a friend, we decided to grab some take out from Pastaggios and it was very... interesting. We ordered the hatch green chili tortellini (because how could we not?) and a Bianca pizza. The tortellini were a bit disappointing... not as flavorful as you would think and I probably wouldn't try them again, but the pizza was aaaamazing! It was so garlicky and delicious. Pastaggios is a MUST when looking for the best red or green Chile Alfredo in town. If you can't make up your mind, do both! Even the bread will leave you speechless. The staff is so helpful when you are stuck on what to order, they even let us sample the sauces. If you can't wait til you get home to eat it, there is a self service dining area open to get it while it's hot. If calories were no worry, I would be here every day. read more

UPDATE: no other way to put it - the quality has declined. I almost always get the green chile lasagna here, so it's a good barometer. It's just not as good as it once was. The sauce seems especially sweet these days, which I do not like. Pasta sauce should have a natural sweetness that comes from slow simmering the sauce, not an unnatural sweetness that comes from sugar. Anyway, I'm downgrading the rating here from 5 to 3 stars. It's just not that great anymore, I'm sorry to say. The bread is still great, but well, it's just bread. read more
