This restaurant was our go-to near our hotel and an absolute godsend as a budget option for a meal. We found the pasta hit or miss depending on the pasta type and sauce chosen, but still a lot better than some of the downright bland meals we had at pricier restaurants. Pasta Imperiale is a casual spot with a good selection of pastas and salads. Water is free and signage outside the store mentions student specials, combo specials (pasta/salad + tiramisu), takeout specials, etc. Portion sizes are excellent, with regular size pasta at €7.5 and large size at €10. The large size is great value and left us stuffed. That said, we had takeout once and found the large size takeout portion significantly smaller (like less than half) compared to dine in, so I'd steer clear of that. In terms of flavour, we tried the carbonara, pesto, and bolognese. The bolognese and carbonara were decent but a bit bland, but the pesto was amazing and easily one of the best from our entire trip. The tiramisu (€4) was one of the least expensive we came across and tasted delicious. The pasta itself was perfectly al dente - ravioli costs a bit more and you get less of it but it didn't knock our socks off so we didn't order it again. Wait time is not bad, around 5-10mins. Location-wise its fantastic. One of the fewer budget eats in the area, so its presence is much needed in the neighborhood. Its close to supermarkets, the metro, etc and has ample seating for small groups. read more

She got one of our orders completely wrong and then refused to fix it, seems like a lot of other people had problems with their orders too. Amazing homemade pastas! Oh that carbonara! A very good value for the quality. Given the casual gouging of the tourists in Rome, it's nice that they have preset prices and weights. Raviolis are +$1, but since its by weight you get twice what a restaurant would portion for half the price. This was so good, please open one in New York! read more

If you're looking for something to eat that's quick and inexpensive or to take away, this place is it. We were in a hurry in between tours and got lasagna, ricotta ravioli with spinach, and tagliatelle with bolognese. Everything we had was amazing! We watched them make our pasta by hand. :( Huge disappointment. Our last night in Rome and we were exhausted from all the walking and wanted a good meal! eat and sleep before our early flight! We ended up going to Pasta Imperiale and I truly dont want to give a bad review but my experience wasnt the best and was my only bad experience in Rome! After reading other reviews i dont know how they could be so good? First off we could easily see the kitchen behind the counter... we ordered for take away (to go) Ravioli, Lasanga, and Gnochhi... the chef straight microwaves the pasta!!! wth? He also put the lasanga in a to go box and microwaved the to go box for a few minutes! Extremely slow service. Was waiting on the line for 20 min with 2 people in front of me. The lady in the cashier got the title of the slowest service provider in Italy. She was very proud of her title and was trying to win it again in 2024. If you want to eat fresh pasta for affordable prices this is the place to go. At first I was a bit worried that the quality would not be great as it appears to be a smaller chain, however, I couldn't have been more wrong. You get to choose what pasta you want that they make on the spot. You also have a wide range of sauces to choose from. Don't be afraid to ask what they recommend. They know their flavors and with some help we got two delicious pasta dishes. We took a big portion, but a regular sized would fill any stomach. We noticed this place first because it was packed with locals. Then we looked at their menu and saw simple salads, fresh pasta (you can see them making the pasta in the back), and sandwiches. We tried the turkey salad and the bresaola salad, both of which were delicious and filling. They slice the meat and cheese to order, and toast a piece of flat bread to go with the salad. We tried the pasta, too (tagliatelle with cacio e pepe), which was decent. The ravioli seemed popular, but we didn't get a chance to try it. Each salad is only 5.5€ and pasta is only 5€, which makes it a cheap and delicious lunch. Grab it to go, and eat it in the piazza around the corner by the fountain. read more
