I popped in and was impressed by the number of items on offer, but I was more interested in food that I could take home and immediately eat. I was tempted by some of their stews, but I eventually decided to go with their Cabbage Rolls. It was still pretty hot by the time I started eating, which was definitely a plus. I can't say I've ever eaten a cabbage roll quite like this one. I'm used to the kind smothered in tomato sauce, and this one didn't have that. The inside turned out to be pretty dry, actually. The flavor, though, was bonkers. Honestly, I woke up this morning craving some more of it. I also bought a slice of their Walnut Cake to try and it's delicious. It's not too sweet and it's got a pretty pronounced nutmeg taste, and the whole thing is complemented beautifully by the marshmallow-like cream on top. And for less than $3 it's a total steal. I'll definitely be returning to Stari Grad to sample more of their wares.

I've been buying this olive oil for a long time and never had a problem before. I even recommended…read moreit to others. But recently, I bought a bottle, and when I used it in my cooking, the food came out tasting awful. I tasted the oil on its own and realized it had a strange, old, off taste -- something clearly wasn't right. It might've been expired or gone bad somehow, even though I had just bought it from the store. So I did what any reasonable customer would do -- I called the number listed on the bottle: Pristine Promotions Ltd. in Toronto (416‑259‑3737). What happened next was extremely disappointing. Instead of listening to my concern, the man who answered immediately got defensive, started talking over me, and insisted his product is "number one" and that they "never have problems." He wouldn't let me explain my issue. I told him I live in London, Ontario, and I asked if there was a way to send the bottle back -- maybe a shipping label or return option, since it was clearly defective. But he refused. He was rude, aggressive, and unprofessional, saying it wasn't his problem and that I'd have to drive it back to Toronto myself. When I calmly said this isn't good customer service and that I might leave a review, he mocked me and said: "Go ahead. Leave whatever review you want." This is not how a food company should treat a loyal customer who simply received a bad product and tried to handle it respectfully. Businesses that stand behind their products know how to handle issues with basic courtesy, responsibility, and respect. Sadly, this was the opposite. I won't be buying from them again, not because of the olive oil -- but because of how they chose to handle a real concern. That tells me everything I need to know.

Prices are comparable (if not cheaper) than the supermarkets in Chinatown, which is a huge plus. They also have a hot bar where you can grab food by the pound. On top of that, there's a small skincare section with decent prices and even some Jellycats tucked in (so cute!). Downstairs, there's a little boba shop. I tried their cheese grape drink, which was not too sweet and came with fun jelly toppings. Overall, I'm really happy to have Bestco nearby and will definitely be doing most of my grocery shopping here.
