If you're from Philly, you must come here. Don't write a review about how much it's like or not Tony Luke's, etc. That's lame! This is a Philly bar in London and it deserves all the love and gratitude it deserves. It's not going to be exactly like home. Spend all your money here with love and gratitude. Nobody owes Philly fans what this gem offers! Love it for all it is. She deserves it!! I recommend the cheesesteak. I also thought the meatball park was good too. The staff are friendly, as are the customers who are primarily Philly area tourists. See website for all the information needed.

Since there doesn't seem to be a listing here for the Waterloo location I'll leave my thoughts here. I'm a Philadelphian visiting London. Hearing about this place from afar made me want to visit. I'm a tough cheesesteak judge. I'll just say that up front. But since they're trying to recreate this in London I'll grade on a curve. They definitely get an A for effort. If I were to put this cheesesteak up against the ones I get at home, first of all it wouldn't be a fair comparison. The roll here comes across a little softer than the ones we use in Philly. But that's where I'll stop being picky. Because on its own it's a decent and tasty sandwich for London. The homemade whiz was a nice touch. But now I'll tell you where they won me over. My wife got the chicken parmesan sandwich. I tasted that and was very impressed with the flavor. That was the sandwich that tasted more like something from home to me. That's what made me really love this place. I loved the atmosphere. I loved meeting the staff. I loved eating under a big picture of Bobby Clarke. If you're from Philly visiting London, it's a lot of fun to visit here.

Being from Philadelphia, Passyunk Avenue was a planned stop during our first visit to the U.K. It didn't disappoint. I can hardly describe the decor. It's EVERYTHING Philly and Philly sports with memorabilia, banners and U.S. dollars taped to the wall, signed by visitors with typical Philadelphia flair and vernacular. The downstairs is almost completely dedicated to the Eagles. Upstairs they had the Phillies game on from the day before. Service was awesome and so was the food. Cheesesteaks were nearly perfect with the exception of the rolls not having quite enough chew. Otherwise, they are on point with everything at Passyunk.

Today is Independence Day and I am in London. So I found an American restaurant to celebrate. I went to Passyunk and had a great American meal - hot dog with onions and homemade cheese wiz and chilis. Plus great tater tots and a can of PBR (Pabst Blue Ribbon for the uninitiated). It was great lunch and a great way to spend our best holiday!

As a native of the Philly metro area, I can state, without hesitation, that the cheesesteaks are excellent. If I my local shop served up a cheesesteak like those at Passyunk AVE, I would be well pleased. Passyunk AVE is a little slice of Philadelphia in London.

That was a giggle. Not quite like being in Philly but a nutty fun place to throw back a beer and gnaw on a few wings.

    Looks oddly familiar...

This place is SO fun. Coming from Philly, I obviously had to make time to stop by at Passyunk Avenue on our trip to London. When we walked in, we were immediately hit in the face (no, not literally) with Eagles and Phillies gear, Philly signage, and hundreds of dollars of bills! I was lucky my friend had a dollar bill on her that I could sign and hang up on the wall. In Philly fashion, the TV was replaying the most recent Eagles win vs. the Packers. I felt right at home. The food and drinks were completely Philly inspired. Though it was absolutely disgusting, I decided on the Philly Phanatic drink (think lime green Midori). I felt like I just HAD to order this for the story, of course. My friend and I ordered cheesesteaks and they tasted remarkably like the real thing (I even brought half home and ate it after a night out - just like home)! I will without a doubt come back on my next trip to London. Excited to bring my fellow Philly people back here, too. Pro tip: I ordered a shirt online with a discount code at the bar and had it delivered to my house in the states to avoid excess baggage fees!

You're looking for a little slice of Philly in the heart of London? This is your place. A little hard to find so stick with it if you're looking for this jawn. It is very small and tight to maneuver, not the ideal place for a big group. I came here to celebrate the 4th of July since I'm away from home for the holiday. The place was PACKED with reservations right up till closing. I was alone so they were kind enough to just slide me around as people showed up for their reservations. I eventually ended up at the bar. I had not planned to eat here. Mostly because I can get a good cheesesteak when I get home but also because I was afraid it would not be good and I'd be disappointed and would regret my choice. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the cheesesteaks are. The meat was a little thicker than I would have liked but it was delicious. They make their own wiz and it was on point. I also got the dirty fries (crab fries if you're from Philly), they had way too much old bay but they were good. The decor is US$ signed by folks who have visited...most cheering on the Birds, others repping their hood. Lots of random gear and stickers as well. Bathrooms are small but clean.

I wanted something with at least one good veggie option, they wanted something with meat, and it had to be somewhere in-between Camden and Canary Wharf, not too pricey, and ideally close to the city because otherwise our Italian friend probably wouldn't make it. And lo and behold.... THE FAT BEAR!!! It was all we wanted and more! This place is sort of tucked away and up some stairs above a pub. It's really just a room and a half, which makes it super cozy and they have a pretty awesome looking bar. It's got warm lighting which makes the atmosphere really nice. Their cocktails were delightful and the service was excellent. I will make a very strange observation that someone working there had a very drunk friend who just sort of made herself at home. Then more joined and it turned into me watching this table of really really drunk people trying to order food. Two of them ended up just falling asleep. It was super strange. Anyway, me being distracted aside, I really loved the cocktail I ordered- Sloe Boat To China, and everyone else seemed happy with theirs. I was dying to try the pimiento cheese starter and the fried pickles. The cheese was particularly sharp and delicious. The pickles were good, but quite skinny (I mean come on, you're in an American restaurant I was expecting some serious pickles). The vegan gumbo was super spicy and delicious. I was impressed and enjoyed it. My husband dropped the ball and ordered the regular jambalaya (with sausage) rather than the seafood one which broke my heart a little bit, because I really wanted to try it. You know, I guess that means we'll just have to come back. Oh also another bonus, this place has brisket which is really hard to find. I can't say how it tastes but my friend said he defo approves (am I becoming more British with these words, or just more annoying?) Anyway, to finish it off I had the oreo cheesecake which the bomb. I love oreos. And it tasted like oreo. So all was right with the world. A wonderful place to come if you have people who want to try American food, or if you have out of town Americans who are too scared to try other food, or if you have hungry friends that want to try cajun food, or if you just want to try some really yummy food.

Came here for pre-theater anniversary dinner with my wife. The ambiance was somewhere between that of a trendy club and nice bar. There was a mad scientist vibe with the lights being industrial vibe and some metal decor. The music was thumpy and loud enough to remind you it was there. It made me feel a bit out-of-place as somebody well past my 20s, but also a bit cool or being there. You really come here for the drinks. We got the pipe dream, smokey old fashioned, honeypot picante, and one other I can't remember the name of, but which came in a flower pot. The pipe dream and smokey old fashioned were likely the best. Overall the drinks were more visually appealing than traditionally good and the visually appealing ones tended to have ingredients that weren't as top shelf and/or they were just too sweet. Not bad, but disappointing for what we'd hope. The food was the opposite. I had low expectations and the food wasn't amazing, but was better than average. We got the bao buns, crispy duck pancakes, panko halloumi, katsu curry, and hot honey pork tacos. They arranged for it all to come out in time for us to make our theater show, which was nice. The bao buns and pork tacos were probably the best. Neither blew me away, but both were solid. The katsu curry and halloumi were standard of what you might expect. The crispy duck pancakes was maybe as advertised, but it would have been nice to have some moistness or substance to the dug vs. it basically being crunchy salty bits of something. Overall, this wasn't a bad meal, but it wasn't quite what I was hoping for either. We may be back, but we'll probably try other things first.

Slaw: low-point of the bbq. They used way, way, too much dressing. Like it was flooded. Also the cabbage wasn't cut finely, but presented as whole chunk slices. Would definitely not recommend this one. Overall minus the slaw, I enjoyed Bodean's

It's a mixed experience, and different to the US, but the bottom line is the food is still to die for. Sweet Chick don't do reservations. Which is fine - the US locations are tiny, you wait which creates a buzzy atmosphere for others, etc. The London version copies this. But when we visited for an early dinner Saturday, the venue was half empty. Hoping to eat quickly, we were told to sit at the bar, for "at most a half hour". We did this. During this time, achingly hipster bartenders slowly made cocktails from cheat sheets. The place is new, I get it, but the staff at the front end are there to bring you in. The hostess continually seated larger parties ahead of us, and at times just hung out while tables were available. This is super annoying - it's clearly part of the process, and designed to get you to spend. There was no flexibility to it, and the experience wasn't welcoming so much as just awkward. BUT - once we were seated, it became a totally different experience. Lovely, attentive service for a start. Help with choosing menu items if you want it, fast delivery that doesn't rush you, and the food...Goddamn the food. Carbs on carbs on carbs. Gooey mac and cheese with a hint of spice and crunchy crumb coating...delicious melt in the mouth biscuits (savoury scones to us) with a salt and herb crust and about a tub of butter in each... and all that before the main course. Chicken and waffles is the staple, and more than filling. Two chicken pieces, deep fried but not greasy, with a waffle. It isn't fancy, and doesn't need to be. It's just delicious and well made. Prices are reasonable - mains are in the £13-£24 range. Cocktails are nicely varied, made with cheap liquor which is a shame, but still pretty tasty. And maybe if they can iron out the intro experience to make it feel less like every other London restaurant and more like the NY joint, it would be a five star experience. Until then, put up with weird intro, it's worth it for the food. Just leave your belt at home.

I made a reservation online with Seven Rooms. The address is in the business' name. To get to this restaurant you can take the Piccadilly line and exit Piccadilly Circus and it's less than a 10 minutes walk over. We headed to the area a little early to explore Piccadilly Circus and Fortnum and Mason next door. Upon entering, there is a coat check that can take our outerwear or backpacks. The card they gave us for our belongings were really fancy. Then we were seating at a cozy half booth. Since we knew what we wanted, we were able to quickly order when our server came around to take our orders. We wanted the Beef Wellington for 2 (£99.50) that comes with sides of Dauphinoise Potatoes and Green Beans in Peppercorn Sauce. We were surprised to be told it would be a 40 minutes wait time for the Beef Wellington due to the tableside sauce making, and it seemed like only one person was performing this task. We got some bread to start, but I didn't want to eat too much cause it would ruin my appetite for the main attraction. I also ordered a glass of Massale Pinot Noir (£15.25) and asked that it would be brought out when the food was ready. When the food was finally ready the tableside service was a fun show. All the ingredients were premeasured for the tableside chef, and he showed us every single ingredient he put it. Then he skillfully cut up the wellington without cracking or denting the crust. He mentioned starting out in pastry so he has some moves. The meal was a fantastic treat and the sides were much appreciated. The dauphinoise potatoes and green beans paired well with the wellington. The beef was cooked perfectly medium rare and evenly. The whole experience was definitely a treat. I would recommend it if you're looking to try a beef wellington... After experiencing the Sunday Roast in London, I would say the Sunday Roast experience was less expensive for equivalent or greater enjoyment. Nevertheless this is one of the better value establishments if you are looked specifically for a beef wellington experience.

My partner and I visited on New Years Eve. I'm not sure if this is always the case, but the music playing was primarily American rock - like The Eagles, Neil Young, etc. It's fine, but not very in line with the classic, upscale feel. The bartending staff was top notch. I had a martini and my partner had a house Manhattan, both were perfect. We shared the iceberg wedge to start, a personal favorite, and this one was spot on. Great bleu cheese dressing, still warm lardons, and crispy, fresh iceberg lettuce. For mains, I ordered the aged Irish ribeye and chose to have it "gorgonzola encrusted". This was the first misstep. First of all, the grass fed beef stands on its own, I would never choose to add a sauce, but this was encrusted, right? Not so much. Here's the definition of encrusted from the Oxford dictionary: "Covered or decorated with a HARD surface layer". What I received was a steak smothered in (a very lovely) gorgonzola SAUCE with some bacon and spring onions. Had I known it was a sauce, I would have skipped it, or at the very least had it served on the side. Slightly disappointing, but the steak was perfectly medium rare and delicious. My partner ordered the hake. It was served with a prawn and a very tasty tarragon pesto. She said the pesto was the star. The fish was delicate and also well prepared. We shared sauteed spinach and roasted mushrooms, both delicious. For dessert we shared the banana and toffee mousse. This was the second misstep. This was a tasty dessert, but it was definitely not mousse. It was a very small sliver of banana bread (?). It had strong banana flavor and was served with rum raisin ice cream which was nice. It was also thankfully a very small portion as we were stuffed. Overall, a very decadent and elegant meal to ring in the new year!
