I loved my meal at PJ's. It's a large, dark restaurant that seems higher end, but without the snobbery that would accompany such a thing. I felt comfortable in jeans and a button-down shirt. I had a steak that was cooked to perfection, and our server was great. For four people with drinks, our total was $245, which isn't bad, considering how good the food was and how well we were treated. As an added bonus, we got to see a man sitting at a table by himself, drinking martinis. He was seated next to a woman sitting alone, drinking wine. By the end of the night, they were seated at the same table. And I truly hope they went home and defiled one another.

I took my sister here for a belated birthday brunch, and I have to be honest, I was not impressed. I would never, EVER complain that the food is pricey if it's really good, or if the place offers an experience along with it. Alas, this really wasn't the case for PJ's bar and grill. Both my sister and I had 2 dishes each: the poached eggs on avocado and rye bread, the eggs royale, the french toasts with bacon and banana, and the pancakes with berries. The only way I would be able to sum it up is: gourmet prices were paid for corner-café food at best. It wasn't disgusting, it wasn't even bad. It was okay. The egg & avocado thinghy was stupidly tiny and costed £13. THIRTEEN POUNDS. Again, if it had been pretty spectacular (as far as eggs on toast go), I wouldn't have had a problem with it. In fact, the main reason why we ordered another round was how hungry we still were after the first. Hungry and underwhelmed. Getting the attention of the staff was also tricky. Not to mention mugs and glasses were left on the table until the end of the meal, despite being empty. They just seemed pretty inattentive. (The place only had 3 tables occupied when we arrived by the way, it only got busy towards the end of our meal, around 11am.) I really wanted to like this place, but I don't think I'll be going back. Unless someone else is paying. ps. For some reason I was given a tiny dessert fork instead of a regular one to eat my poached eggs... ?_?

On the bar of course.

It's a large, dark restaurant/bar that has an old time feel. I went with friends on a last min decision. There were no tables so we had drinks with fries at the bar. The atmosphere is buzzing but not too loud. The staff did not mind that we were not spending that much money or that some of us were in jeans. Which is a big plus. I would love to go here again and try the restaurant.

The first time I there was with Peter James - I have to admit the name resemblance was quite funny. In London you find lots of places, which are totally stylish and modern. Even though PJ serves modern American cuisine, it can be more described as traditional and classy. The restaurant is decorated in dark wood and has a down to earth but refined atmosphere. The quality of the service is excellent and the selection of the menu card tells you this is a place in Chelsea, which not only looks posh but also delivers what it promises. Although I have been there for a light weekend lunch - as they serve excellent tuna and beef carpaccio and spicy Bloody Marys, I have to admit this place comes most alive in the evening with its charm and character. If you make a reservation early enough you might get a table towards the window, especially in summer it is amusing whilst enjoying a delightful meal, watching the people walking past you on Fulham Road. As for the menus I can highly recommend as starter the moules or even the fish soup. If you like fish, I recommend the sea bass as main course- it shares the plate with citrus fennel salad and coriander. The magret duck breast with glazed apples and lavender honey sauce lingers fondly on the palate was for a meat gourmet like me the right choice. Little details made this place one of my favourite: The fresh bread served by the waiter, the neatly folded napkins and not to forget the Grappa at the end.

Bar area. Ordered a bottle of wine and had a great time.

Been a tourist in the U.K. For about two weeks. This place is hands down my favorite restaurant. Amazing food. Great service. Ambiance. Music. Everything is so great! Make sure you order the Reuben croquettes.

Nice pub ambiance and friendly staff. Our food was good but nothing exceptional. I'd return for an average every day meal.

Came here for pre-theater anniversary dinner with my wife. The ambiance was somewhere between that of a trendy club and nice bar. There was a mad scientist vibe with the lights being industrial vibe and some metal decor. The music was thumpy and loud enough to remind you it was there. It made me feel a bit out-of-place as somebody well past my 20s, but also a bit cool or being there. You really come here for the drinks. We got the pipe dream, smokey old fashioned, honeypot picante, and one other I can't remember the name of, but which came in a flower pot. The pipe dream and smokey old fashioned were likely the best. Overall the drinks were more visually appealing than traditionally good and the visually appealing ones tended to have ingredients that weren't as top shelf and/or they were just too sweet. Not bad, but disappointing for what we'd hope. The food was the opposite. I had low expectations and the food wasn't amazing, but was better than average. We got the bao buns, crispy duck pancakes, panko halloumi, katsu curry, and hot honey pork tacos. They arranged for it all to come out in time for us to make our theater show, which was nice. The bao buns and pork tacos were probably the best. Neither blew me away, but both were solid. The katsu curry and halloumi were standard of what you might expect. The crispy duck pancakes was maybe as advertised, but it would have been nice to have some moistness or substance to the dug vs. it basically being crunchy salty bits of something. Overall, this wasn't a bad meal, but it wasn't quite what I was hoping for either. We may be back, but we'll probably try other things first.

While researching for a Beef Wellington restaurant to take my boyfriend as a part of our London…read morebucketlist, I identified 45 Jermyn St as best value. I made a reservation online with Seven Rooms. The address is in the business' name. To get to this restaurant you can take the Piccadilly line and exit Piccadilly Circus and it's less than a 10 minutes walk over. We headed to the area a little early to explore Piccadilly Circus and Fortnum and Mason next door. Upon entering, there is a coat check that can take our outerwear or backpacks. The card they gave us for our belongings were really fancy. Then we were seating at a cozy half booth. Since we knew what we wanted, we were able to quickly order when our server came around to take our orders. We wanted the Beef Wellington for 2 (£99.50) that comes with sides of Dauphinoise Potatoes and Green Beans in Peppercorn Sauce. We were surprised to be told it would be a 40 minutes wait time for the Beef Wellington due to the tableside sauce making, and it seemed like only one person was performing this task. We got some bread to start, but I didn't want to eat too much cause it would ruin my appetite for the main attraction. I also ordered a glass of Massale Pinot Noir (£15.25) and asked that it would be brought out when the food was ready. When the food was finally ready the tableside service was a fun show. All the ingredients were premeasured for the tableside chef, and he showed us every single ingredient he put it. Then he skillfully cut up the wellington without cracking or denting the crust. He mentioned starting out in pastry so he has some moves. The meal was a fantastic treat and the sides were much appreciated. The dauphinoise potatoes and green beans paired well with the wellington. The beef was cooked perfectly medium rare and evenly. The whole experience was definitely a treat. I would recommend it if you're looking to try a beef wellington... After experiencing the Sunday Roast in London, I would say the Sunday Roast experience was less expensive for equivalent or greater enjoyment. Nevertheless this is one of the better value establishments if you are looked specifically for a beef wellington experience.

It's at the end of the street on the corner, so don't let an Uber drop you off in the middle of the street and make you look for 45. The waiters were very nice, patient and attentive. There was a waitress who showed us each ingredient she used to make the sauce for our Beef Wellington. At the end she flambayed our sauce and we poured it on the Wellington. I didn't really feel like it added anything significant in flavor to it. The restaurant is nice and I agree with other critiques; you can go in casual but you're better off dressing nicely. I would definitely eat there again. They had a delicious potato augratin and garlic green beans.

My partner and I visited on New Years Eve. I'm not sure if this is always the case, but the music playing was primarily American rock - like The Eagles, Neil Young, etc. It's fine, but not very in line with the classic, upscale feel. The bartending staff was top notch. I had a martini and my partner had a house Manhattan, both were perfect. We shared the iceberg wedge to start, a personal favorite, and this one was spot on. Great bleu cheese dressing, still warm lardons, and crispy, fresh iceberg lettuce. For mains, I ordered the aged Irish ribeye and chose to have it "gorgonzola encrusted". This was the first misstep. First of all, the grass fed beef stands on its own, I would never choose to add a sauce, but this was encrusted, right? Not so much. Here's the definition of encrusted from the Oxford dictionary: "Covered or decorated with a HARD surface layer". What I received was a steak smothered in (a very lovely) gorgonzola SAUCE with some bacon and spring onions. Had I known it was a sauce, I would have skipped it, or at the very least had it served on the side. Slightly disappointing, but the steak was perfectly medium rare and delicious. My partner ordered the hake. It was served with a prawn and a very tasty tarragon pesto. She said the pesto was the star. The fish was delicate and also well prepared. We shared sauteed spinach and roasted mushrooms, both delicious. For dessert we shared the banana and toffee mousse. This was the second misstep. This was a tasty dessert, but it was definitely not mousse. It was a very small sliver of banana bread (?). It had strong banana flavor and was served with rum raisin ice cream which was nice. It was also thankfully a very small portion as we were stuffed. Overall, a very decadent and elegant meal to ring in the new year!
