    Ganache Patisserie - Incredible pastries

"World-shaking."…read more Not normally how I'd describe anything, let alone a patisserie, but - mon dieu! - what slice of provincial France exists here in outyling suburbia. They serve coffee in bowls. Bowls! Where are we, Biarritz? There's always a queue, a necessary evil I'm afraid but then, with the sheer Gallic quality of, oh, let's see, *absolutely everything* they produce (in the bakery you can see with your own two eyes (three if you're Tasmanian) out the back of the shop, no less), I'd be worried if there weren't a queue. And really, they could charge what they want, these taste magicians. Their artisan skillz endow them with a virtual license to print money. But do they? They do not! A regular latte is a mere $2.80. Say whaaat?! If you don't get in afore 8am you won't even see a Country Loaf let alone snag one. You'll be left with perfect baguettes, homemade jams, petit fours, and the best almond croissants I've ever tasted (and I once adjudicated at the Best Almond Croissants Awards).

In an area starved for freshly made, artisanal pastries, Ganache is the real deal when it comes to…read moreauthentic French baked goods. Arrive anytime after 10 in the morning and you'll find a seriously depleted selection of breads (their country loaves are a personal fave), but the range of sweets is grazed on throughout the day as guests stop for morning and afternoon tea. Considering the perfection of their pastries and intricacy of each creation, the prices are more than reasonable - just $1.60 for their mini items like raspberry tartlets and coffee éclairs, or $4.50 for a larger items, like the individual roasted, caramelised macadamia cake covered in dark chocolate ganache and flecked with edible gold. The seats are scarce with only some four tables on hand inside, but try to grab one if you can to get the full Gallic experience: the woman regularly manning the till speaks with a bona fide accent, the coffee served as bowls of café au lait rather than paper takeaways, the chairs familiar black-and-white Parisienne wicker creations.

Gee how good is this place! My dining buddy went back for seconds despite this being a quick lunch…read more The pies were excellent. So how do you eat your pie? If it survives my dissection and eating process it is a goodun' The top came off in one flakey piece. The pepper meat filling was mildly peppery and filled the case. That is the bit I eat first, then the casing and finally the top. Beautiful. The dining buddy's seconds was an American chilli beef. I got a bit of a lookin with that one and it was good too. We finished with an iced coffee and it was bloody good too. Disadvantages of the place is that you could find yourself sitting in a draughty walkway and finding a park is a challenge. It is definitely worth the effort to give it a try

Cakes, Pies, Tarts, Quiches and more Cakes!…read more When in need of a cake you know who to call....The Cake Man! (insert superhero theme) This place has a lot and i mean lots of varieties of cakes, pies, tarts etc. On one side you have the coffee area and mini cakes etc on the opposite end they have the cakes for birthdays and other special occasions. The seating area is along side the arcade and at the back of the store. They serve hot pies and sausage rolls as well as small quiches or family sized quiches for those quick dinner nights. Order and pay at the counter if you would like to dine in. They will hand you a table number and bring out your food/coffee. Can be a bit slow if there is queue waiting to be served but staff are friendly and helpful.

The are famous for their cheese cake, and the pastry that I've tried today... it was out of this world. My Apple turn over was nicely glazed, sweet and slightly tanginess from the apple, which I assumed Granny Smith apple, cooked to perfections, still have a bite to it and ration between pastry and feeling, just right. 2. They served a good coffee, everything is just perfect, form the caffeine dosage through the perfect milk temperature. 3. Quick service, friendly and come with smile. Efficient service even though cafe was busy at 11.30pm, well done! Keep up good work guys!

I request to change another but all the staff (4 staff include the chef) insisted that it is the one and refused to do anything. Even the chef said it's normal to look like that!! Also the staff just took it in n out to show to their colleagues, finally they damaged all the edge of my cake and just repack it and pass to me. Also they just deleted my comment form Facebook. What a service ! They "USED TO BE" nice patisserie that I purchased for almost every celebration in the past. Don't buy Unless you expect the cake won't look the same as you order. Otherwise, never in the future.

Meeting on a Saturday morning to discuss business at our studio space I had the sudden urge for…read morepastries. Being a man who isn't often caught with a pastry in hand, this was a new and unusual feeling, both exciting and scary simultaneously. A frightening and eye opening emotion, this wanton desire for pastries. I said to my fellow compatriots, "Who wants some pastries?" The next thing I knew I was on a pastry finding mission through the streets of Willoughby slash Chatswood. Now, would you believe me if I told you that a pastry shop, or bakery, as they're also known, is very difficult to find in this upper north shore district? Well it's true. Up High Street I walked, turning onto Victoria Road, a quick detour down Penshurst and then back up Victoria to continue my way towards the centre of Chatswood. A thriving metropolis and definite pastry seller. Finally, halfway to the station, I found Sweet Delight, a small Vietnamese Bakery, and while the exterior might not scream Boulangerie or Stylish French Patisserie, once inside; the smell of fresh bread climbed my nasal peaks and made the ol' factory feel new again. I ordered a selection of snails, tarts and buns and had them all quartered to better distribute the goods amongst my peers. The price was nice and the pastries nicer, satisfying that strange and lingering urge to eat sweat sugary bread. There is a strong nostalgic feel to this place for me and I can only assume that it must be somewhat similar to a bakery from my childhood. Nevertheless, Sweet Delight, while, maybe not a fancy hip bakery, has a good selection of breads and cakes, drinks, sells the Sunday paper and has a few tables and chairs inside and out for those who wish to have a coffee with their breakfast snail.

Just down from the all-consuming monolith of Chatswood, that gigantic retail temple where consumers…read morecome to prey, is a little clutch of shops clustered around what was an RTA and is now a NSW Service Centre: a Vinnies, a bottle shop, a ramen joint. And Sweet Delight Bakery. It's big and clean and if you go in there hungry you're already gone, son. Today I was in the mood for a banh mi and you know how banh mi stations are normally kinda messy and there's stuff everywhere and some of the ingredients don't look that appealing? This one is the Kate Upton of pork roll stations, everything is big and bright and bountiful, I wanted to climb in there and roll around for a while. They're generous with the chilli and the roll itself is ginormous, a proper hand torpedo. AND you'll get change from a fiver. Or stump up an extra buck and get a coffee, too. Schwing!
