We had the cheese wheel carbonara, which is quite the spectacle, and some Lasagna Fritti (which is crumbed deep fried lasagna bites). The Lasagna was quite good, didn't get much lasagna flavour as I expected, but was crispy and crunchy and a good snack. The cheese wheel carbonara is incredible, they trolley out this big cheese wheel, and put the pasta inside to melt and flavour it. It's quite a big serve (although they charge per person), and the end result is really cheesy and gooey. Note: You have to really like cheese for this dish to work. Service was a bit slow as they only had 2 staff on, but they were really friendly and helpful

I have to say that the 'almost famous garlic bread" will become famous. Then there's the deep fried lasagne, who thought of that? Totally delicious and thankfully served on cocktail skewers as small cubes, so just enough to be sumptuous without deep fried guilt. From there we went to chargrilled squid . The extra virgin oil they use here is premium and when combined with the flavours of tomatoes, garlic basil and the smokeyness of the squid... yum. We tried a selection of the pastas, my favourites where the pork and fennel pasta and the prawn ravioli for the flavour and silky texture. Then there was the pizzas which followed the same high standard set by the pastas. There's an enticing selection in either the red or white pizza offerings. Save room for the gelato!! You can eat here for less than $20 but treat yourself and you still won't pay more than $40 for samples across 4 courses. Service was fast and friendly. The restaurant is in the newly renovated top floor of the interchange that is going through a revival. It worth a

I came with a group of 6 and we naturally had to order the metre long pizza ($62) al metro, meaning it could be split into 3 different types of pizza out of their 15+ choices so there's something for everyone. Before we did that we ordered some starters; the salt + pepper calamari with eggplant (this was awesome,) buffalo mozzarella salad, and sausage on toast (the name escapes me.) The entreés were good, though portions on the small side...but good start. Onto the pizza...I'm not sure what I expected, but I think I ate a bit of the hype machine because the pizza was just OK for me. The crust was crispy, dough was fluffy, but the pizza itself was a little too flimsy...flimsy enough you had to eat with two hands and the toppings fell off quite easily, so I found it more annoying than enjoyable to eat. I need to come here again to solidify my opinion, but for the time being, if you live near the CBD I wouldn't make the trek out here as there are other places to go. Order a small pizza on the side if you have 6 people, as the metre long will be gone in seconds and you may still be hungry.

Sure, it's not that large, but it is large enough, though it does happen to be on the second floor. Actually, when I was here it was actually pretty crowded, so I did find it a little difficult finding a seat. However, there was a good selection of beers on tap, so I really can't complain all that much about it.

This used to be a rough and tumble, don't bring your real teeth with you, argy bargy worker pub back in the day --- and quite frankly nothing's changed. Well the decor has. Sure it looks nicer inside, but really they haven't attempted to shift the clientelle to their new look (I was in there after all ha!) The Orchard has large pointless areas, like their pool room which is about as sterile as Royal North Shore, Ward 3. They also have a large bank of TAB monitors which dominate the presence of the place. Hence they attract that unsavoury element by having them *in* rather than *adjacent to* the public bar. They do offer food, and it is generally quite good, but after half a dozen bowls of loudmouth soup, everything tastes good (even 3 month old Mrs Macs pies from 7-eleven or those nukeable cheeseburgers) so it's a little more difficult to gauge the restaurant. I'll let someone else give that a stab. In terms of the atmoshpere unless you are there to drink yourself stupid whilst punting on the tab; or getting a few cheapies in before heading somewhere else; I wouldn't bother going. If you are looking for a fun time, you'll probably find it elsewhere methinks. There's better places to chill in Chatswood, so why was I at the Orchard? Convenience, and post German beer hall, friendlier to the wallet and the liver, but ultimately I ended up somewhere else.

Constructed on the far left hand corner at the bottom of the escalators at Chatswood Interchange, it's difficult to miss as you can see the steam rising from Barista magic at work. It's busy, in a worker bee sense. People come and go clutching coffee, whilst 3 artisans work their craft. I rolled in here with my two elderly companions on Wednesday post lunch, and we were drawn to the little padded seats at the back, which also opens through to the other side. Ordering, then taking a seat, our talking point became the shelves in front of us with coffee and train paraphernalia. I grabbed the HONY book on display and attempted to explain the concept to the ex-journalist at my right. The book (from 2010) unfortunately contains only the images and captions, not the stories that we have all seen on Facebook, but I think she got what I meant. Soon after, the coffees arrived. Soy Latte. Flat White. Cappuccino. Our cappuccino drinker said the flavour was lovely but she wanted it "hotter". The flat white drinker remarked in earnest tones that it was wonderful. I just drank mine and smiled. Yes it was damn good. One of the best Soy Latte's I've had. No bitterness. A smooth, flavourful brew with some complexity to delight my tastebuds. Isn't "winning your loyalty" an interesting concept. When I stroll through Chatswood next I would find myself hard pressed to try another coffee place, and there are many... If I did try another coffee place, I'd feel like I was cheating on TSE. That's what winning your loyalty is all about.
