We were actually looking for a different hat shop and wound up at this one. I found it to be a very random spot for a place to buy a hat but I guess that's because I have never actually shopped for a "normal every day not for the Kentucky derby hat" before. They had a pretty good size selection of different types of hats with good name brands that were recognizable as well as some easy sun hats and some kids hats as well. The guy that worked there was very helpful and not only helped us try on different hats but also helped us with sizing as well as style. He also fixed the brim and steamed it into a different shape after we purchased one of the hats. Both of us wanted a little bit of extra for our hat bands and the guy that was working there pulled out a whole container of feathers for us and help us pick them out and then put them in the band. They were also having a great sale so we walked out of there with very happy faces and not too broke! Like I mentioned I had never been to a hat shop for a normal hat before but my friend has been to many and was dubious at first but after leaving there she was very pleased with the selection as well as the customer service. The hats I was looking at costed more there than the name brand version at Nordstrom. Not a lot of varieties within each style either. Fantastic shop, knowledgeable staff, quality headwear. I have been window shopping for fedoras for the past few weeks and I was unsure where to start. This place is a gem! Various types of choices without having to worry about what you may need a certain hat to fit your outfit for that event you will attend, this hat shop has got it! The stetson fedoras are amazing either fit for a mobster to a Pachuco. I have actually been going here for about 10 years now from saving up for those too quality fedoras to the bendables which I grew fond of actually. Normally I would worry about mishaping my hat or so but with those, no kidding! So someone tried smashing one of my fedora while we were in Vegas at the time, and with the laughter and downtalk, I just walked over to it and looked like it was done and smashed, until I popped my hand through and boop it went back to it's original shape ahaha whew the look of her face after I yelled Ahhaa and took off to the elevator! But ya I do remember an older couple which he mentioned they were his parents and I believe it's only right that I continue to make my way in and find something when I can as their son is keeping up the legacy I'm happy to keep my loyalty! He actually reminded me of his dad but instead of his dad filling in the inlining to fit perfect while the hat seemed bigger and the only size that fit closest. He actually had me sized and which hats I should be looking for to fit perfectly. He also got me into the Heisenberg hat I bought about a year ago, and man that Pork pie actually grew on me. The starch actually started to get loose so Ill have to go in sometime soon and I wonder if he would be able to reshape my hat for me and starch up as stiff as it was when I first bought it! read more

They have an amazing and wide selection of hats for both men and women - and not just baseball caps like most of these other "hat" stores. This is a true hat shop that has all kinds of quality hats. The owner was very helpful and he measured my hat and gave me great tips on the proper way to fit a hat. Long-time small business hat seller here on Colorado boulevard. The selection here is affordable to a middle range. If you are looking for high-end name brands their selection may be limited. The style selection here is actually complete even though things may seem disorganized at first glance. Many hats are behind the counter thus don't be shy to ask for assistance. The shop owners here are nice people. They have a great selection of Kangol hats and they are not marked up like some places. If you buy multiple hats, there is a good chance that there will be a discount. Hats are cool accessories that many take for granted. read more

After reading a few of the misleading and incorrect reviews of this hat shop I have to put my two cents in. I started buying hats at World Hat Mart over 25 years ago when Elijah's father was operating the shop. There is no other hat shop that I know of in the greater Los Angeles area that has the selection, from affordable every day wear to more expensive hats for special occasions, that Borsalino's has. One reviewer stated that you can find better in DTLA. I really doubt that. And who wants to go to downtown LA anyway. Was just walking by, skylarking tourist style, when my partner noticed we had just passed a hat shop. We went in and started browsing and the selection was incredible. If I wanted something cheap to call a hat, I could have done that (unfortunately, many people do). I had a pretty good idea what I wanted in both a Fedora and a Panama, but Elijah was able to give me more detailed information that helped me decide which to buy. He even took a measurement to make sure I got fitted correctly. Once I made my selections, it turned out both hats needed to be stretched, just a little bit. No Problem, no extra charge. We lamented the fact that online shopping seems to have hurt hatmakers (and retailers) more than helped. It's hard to be happy with a hat without getting measured. If you want a good hat, well fitted, and you understand why they cost more than dinner and a movie, stop in, ask questions, get fitted, and enjoy the individuality and style of a good hat. read more

Give ol'James a break. Despite the mixed reviews on his customer service, the old man is sweet. Having been there for over 20 years, I'm sure he's had a fair share of knuckleheads. And I get what everyone says. He does come off disinterested, but willing to assist anyway -- just a little patience to help manage. Having no luck in finding hat stores that carry Stetson, this place has got it all. They have good variety, but it was difficult to find my size so I would call in advance in case you want to drop by expecting to find what you're looking for. Decently priced. I noticed he carried popular hats that were marked down compared to the advertised price online through direct brand, so it's also good to check and compare. I ended up paying less than original tag by being polite and by asking discount. Sometimes it doesn't hurt to ask, but I also had a smile throughout my entire purchase experience -- you never know how a persons day is, but if you ask and treat everyone with respect, the kindness will return in different ways. Hence, a discount for me. (Not to say he will give everyone a discount if you smile.) I say, give it a shot! read more

I went into this shop looking to a Stetson hat for my father in law. Had a huge variety of quality hats, good prices and awesome styles. Wife loved a few but had to leave because my daughter (six month old at the time) went poops in her diaper. Either way, great shop if you're nearby and would highly recommend. Incredibly slow shipping, 13 days, so I couldn't give hat I ordered as a present. And the Stetson hat not shipped with Stetson box (in fairness, that really ended up and didn't matter a lot to me since I couldn't give the present anyhow - but other potential buyer should know). To return, they wanted me to pay them $52.50 (30% restocking fee) for a hat I never even removed from the box. So, it'll be easier for me to list it on eBay and try to cut my losses. Perhaps in person this shop is good, but I wouldn't recommend ordering online. FOLLOW UP TO OWNER'S REPLY... Sorry you are heartbroken at my 100% accurate and truthful review. But, these reviews are not only to praise businesses when they do well, but to give other potential buyers information they might find useful when things don't go so well. That's why you have 3.5 stars and not 5 (70%). You are correct, I really screwed up by not seeing your return policy (page down to bottom of home page, click "returns" - see paragraph 7, "Pasadena Hat Shop reserves the right to charge a restocking fee up to 30% at Pasadena Hat Shop's sole discretion"). I went to this store right before Christmas looking for hats for the girlfriend. They have a large selection of hats in many different styles. I was specifically looking for women's hats in a 1920's style, and most of the hats I looked at were priced around $25. The customer service, however, was nonexistent. The man running the shop had no knowledge or interest in providing any information. Furthermore, I asked him if they came with a box, and he said that the box was $2 extra. I assumed that he meant a hat box, but he meant for an old used cardboard box. I'm certain there are better hat stores to be found. read more

Seriously I've been to like 20 hat stores in the last year all over the world from SF to Singapore, Tokyo, Venice, LA and this store clearly has the most hats I've ever seen in one store.
