I came in to this AAP after visiting the Rockville location because I was dealing with a car battery that possibly would not keep its charge. I was hopeful that running my car and driving from Rockville to Gaithersburg in rush hour traffic would show me whether the battery could indeed keep a charge or whether it needed to be replaced... Enter my hero's working that night: Kelvin and Jay. Kelvin understood my concerns right away and proceeded to call the AAP in Springfield, VA where I had bought the current battery to get details of the purchase to confirm I could get it replaced under warranty (since I lost my receipt somewhere between the walk to my car and the drive to the store... Guess what I found blown under my porch when I got home??? Yep, the receipt). As soon as he got the confirmation, Kelvin asked his co-worker Jay to help me. I skipped the part where Jay came out to my car in that busy parking lot to test my battery to confirm it did not keep its charge (grrrrr...) and to test my alternator to rule that out as a possible issue. Jay then installed the new replacement battery into my car in a matter of minutes (no more than 20). He told me he saw the distress I was in and wanted to make sure he could take care of me as if I were his sister. This warmed my heart like no other car related experience has!!! However the next day the store manager refused to return my part. Once I showed my sales receipt to the sales associate on duty, she remained understanding and professional and completed my exchange. While waiting for the completion of my transaction, the manager continued to talk loudly and in a condescending and unprofessional tone. I'm thankful for the sales associate who helped and was very professional. Unfortunately I will not be shopping at this Advance Auto Parts store anymore.

The store seems fairly large. I didn't do much exploring. There were only 2 employees (that I could see) working and both were busy so I waited my turn. The first gentlemen who helped me seemed awfully confused. I don't blame him. It seems like you have to know A LOT considering all cars are made definitely. He kind of stared at my fog light for a few minutes while shaking his head and muttering no before asking me my car information. He checked their system and things just got super confusing from there. Let me say, the fog light had a sticker on it that said H8/H9/H11. I have NO idea what these numbers indicate but I guess he found out my car used H11 so I truly have no idea what the other numbers were for. We stood staring at the fog lights for a good 6 minutes before I just said never mind I'm going to just order online. He then said he was going to ask his coworker. His coworker then took a look at it and said they didn't have it. Maybe there was some miscommunication because I was not looking for that EXACT brand and or fog light. I just needed something that would fit my vehicle as my fog light was burnt out. I kept saying that but I kept being told they didn't carry HID/LED fog lights. I eventually just said okay again and made my way out of the store. I ordered the fog lights online as soon as I got back to my car. Needless to say I wasted 30 minutes of my life.

He greeted me right away when he noticed me waiting after he helped someone else who went in once he came from the back, he actually listened, and gave helpful advice about why my car might not be starting even though my battery was fine(he did the test for me). I took my car recently and the mechanic misplaced the gas cap. You take your car to the auto service shop to get it fixed, not bring it home with new problems. When I went to the shop to check if the gas cap was there, they flat out refused to look for it and instead accused me of losing it. Like I would try to swindle a business for a $30 gas cap. That's less than what I pay for a full tank of gas. There are plenty of good auto service shops in the area that do fantastic work for reasonable prices and have excellent customer service. I will be taking my vehicle to one of those places.
