The puppies they have are locked in a glass container with poop not just on the floor of the enclosure but covered in it they do not get bathed they look very malnourished in my personal opinion. It is so sad to see how much they are selling the pups for and doesn't let them out to customers to interact with. They were absolutely filthy every time I have gone to look at buying a puppy to welcome in to the family they are covered in feces and even going back multiple days in a row thinking they would be bathed or cleaned off they were it was filthy conditions and breaks my heart to see them treated like that. read more

I called yesterday or the day before and was told that I could at the very least get store credit for them (which I would only use on supplies). Today I brought in the 4 dead hamsters and the 2 that were alive. The girl working there called the owner and put me on the phone with him. The owner refuses to give me a refund or even store credit. Adam Wiste of Partners Pet Center sold me what he (and the sign on the cage) said was a Parti Mini Schnauzer for $1999. He said he uses only reputable breeders, but I later found out he uses Susan Franz, who is on a list of 100 worst puppy mill breeders and has had multiple USDA violations when she was licensed. As my dog grew, she didn't look like a schnauzer, and is missing the bushy eyebrows and beard that are the trademark of that breed. AND SHE SHEDS, which schnauzers do not. When I confronted the owner, he insisted that she looked like a schnauzer, and tried to convince me she wasn't shedding...despite me having hair on my clothes from her. He said get a DNA test. She came back with 9 different breeds and 1% schnauzer. He offered only half my money back. Since, he has stopped responding after telling me there is nothing I can legally do. I found another woman with the same story. He sold her a dog that was supposed to be a shih tzu poodle mix, but had zero poodle, and was 5 different breeds. We're so pleased with our experience and purchase! My daughter was heartbroken from another shih tzu breeder experience. I remembered walking into Partner's years ago and thought I'd call them up. Turns out, some shih tzus had just been born. Putting the downpayment made me uneasy at first but it's one of the best decisions I ever made. We secured the one female in the litter and she is a joy. It's been about two months so I thought I'd let folks know: not only are you getting a great pet from Partner's but they include literally hundreds of dollars worth of shots and food and goodies. We decided to look in here for a puppy but this place is not well taken care of. The puppies are not cleaned and brushed. The cages of other animals are overcrowded especially the rats. Even if an animal is a feeder you can't cram that many in the cage. They were literally stomping all over each other and agitated. The toys were old and dirty. My dog was sent home with me in a cardboard box and dirty towels. Puppy mill spot for sure. I had to join Yelp to write this review, because the conditions in this store were alarming and they shouldn't be allowed to continue. The cruelty was astounding, with live animals caged in with decaying and rotting carcasses. The puppy mill puppies, aside from being advertised as breeds other than what they were, were barely coherent and caked with excrement. These aren't the product of one bad day, but weeks of neglect and abuse. Of course they don't allow photos, since collecting evidence of the atrocities would hurt business. I honestly don't know how this place is still open and operating. My roommate and I stopped in one weekend about a month ago to see about getting a hedgehog. He had previously been in a long, long time ago, and he spoke highly of the place, so I had high hopes myself. When we walked in, the smell of animal and urine hits you like a brick to the face. It's AWFUL. I've also never been in a pet store where all the animal tanks are just open wide for anyone to stick their hands in to, so they can get bitten, cross contaminate, or feed who knows what to the animals, all of which could have easily happened, because, while we were there, there were only 2 employees, and they were both behind the counter working with customers, and the store had maybe a dozen people in it, with a lot of them dipping their hands into the tanks to touch, pickup, and pet various animals. There wasn't a single bottle of hand sanitizer to be seen, either. They also SELL puppies at grossly marked up prices from what I'm certain are puppy mills. The poor animals looked pitiful and petrified. If only we had the capability to take them all home and stop the cycle of selling puppy mill pups. Disgraceful. They sit in tiny display cages on wire racks with pans underneath that are filthy. It's just awful. How the humane society has allowed that to carry on is beyond me. But it gets better...well, worse, actually. Since there was no way to speak to an employee about a hedgehog and I'd made it very clear to my roommate anyway that we should NOT buy anything from this horror show, we looked to see what was in the other open topped tanks. I had mentioned I wanted to own rats again some day soon since I've got a little bit of extra money now, and we saw they had a tank of rats that was open for all. Which is CRAZY. The tank WASN'T that deep, and rats are EXCELLENT climbers, and certainly they're smart enough to work together to escape (which I'll get back to later). My friend walked closer to the tank, which was NOT labeled "feeder", by the way, and there were several that were jumping up toward him, making it within an inch or two of the opening of the tank. Now, I mention that they're not labeled feeder because they DID have some marked feeder elsewhere, so I'm assuming they mean these for pets. Which is BANANAS, because they keep male and female together, and judging by size, the females are well past 5-6wks old, meaning they're almost certainly pregnant. So if you buy a female from there, SURPRISE! But still, this isn't the worst of it. There are SO many rats in this tank, well over a dozen, WAY too many for the size of it, and they're just crawling over one another, starting to gang up on one weaker rat, attacking it. So now there's blood all over the tank and the rats because they've skinned this poor thing's tail to the bone, meanwhile, the employees are now just sitting behind the counter shooting the breeze with someone as it's calmed down in the store. There also may have been one entirely dead rat in the tank, too, because the little all white fellow never moved (you'll see them at the top of the pic I add). I snapped a pic and am still trying to figure out who I call to report this place. Many of the rats were sneezing, which means they're probably sick. Lots of porpyhrin all around, so even more signs of sickness. Honestly wouldn't be surprised if the poor little things had mites, too. We looked through the rest of the store just to see what horrors awaited. There was a bird out of its cage...on purpose. The employees would yell at customers not to touch the bird...not that they were, just to make sure they could read the sign that said not to touch it, I guess? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ They had other birds in there just screeching up a storm. Lots of birds in tiny cages. The fish tanks were alright, I guess? In that they weren't horrendously filthy or filled entirely with dead fish. I saw some life in them. When we finally left, as I was trying to suppress the tears that were coming to my eyes for the animals enduring their existence in this hellhole, I noticed that nearly every single one of the few types of bagged pet food they sell on the racks near the door (on the wall of the front of the store inside) had chew holes in them that they'd taped over, so OBVIOUSLY keeping the tanks open to the rats ISN'T working for them, and they're STILL doing it AND trying to sell you food that's potentially been contaminated with who knows what at this point. Like the screeching birds in this store, it honestly seems like EVERY animal that has the unfortunate luck to end up here is screaming, in its own way, to be released. I hope to dog the health department, humane society, or another such group shuts them down QUICKLY. DO NOT SHOP HERE. read more

As someone who is relocating to the Austin area in a few weeks I was excited to see a pet store that was seemingly almost identical to the one I have worked at in Florida. This place is horrific. I cannot comment on the fish, because I was too disgusted by the condition of the puppies, small animals, and reptiles. Multiple puppies were kept in tiny metal cages, no bedding or place to lay down, and most had empty food dishes. This store used water bottles similar to ones you would use for small animals so I cannot comment on if there was water for the puppies. The bottom tray had newspaper that was covered in feces/urine. Some of the puppies looked much younger than the 8-12 weeks that the signs said. The small animals were also not kept in proper conditions. There were 4 or 5 almost full grown guinea pigs kept in an area that is about 2 ft x 2 ft, barely room for one guinea pig, let alone 4 or 5. In another enclosure that same size there were about 8-10 hedgehogs all crammed under one hide. Feeder rodents were overcrowded and sickly. Reptiles: animals were being housed improperly, cohabitating different species together, animals that were not in an appropriate condition to sell, the list goes on and on. I will let the pictures speak for themselves. Not only have I worked at a pet store that offers all of the same types of animals, I have personally owned most of the kinds of animals available in the store and currently collect high end reptiles. Please do not purchase anything from this store. Look for responsible breeders if you want a puppy/small animal/reptile/exotic, local fish stores for aquarium needs, and check other stores or online if you need supplies. read more

I got what I thought was a "teacup poodle" from there in the very end of July. I was told full grown he would be four pounds. He was healthy for the most part when I got him. He did have a bacteria so if you get a puppy from here make sure you have that checked. He was a healthy puppy besides that. He was a pound and a half when I got him and they told me he was ten weeks old. My guess is that he was younger than that because of how rapidly he grew. I thought I bought a teacup poodle but I did not. He is now about six months old and he is probably around 11-12 pounds now. He is huge! Super long. Don't get me wrong, I love my puppy and he is a fantastic dog, but i paid $900 for a teacup poodle. All of that being said, I think that the dogs are a good quality just not what you think you are getting. My dog is in great health and he is your normal run of the mill puppy. He is just huge. I wish that I hadn't been lied to and been told the truth about the breed his is because I have no idea. I always tell him it's a good thing he's cute. Just know what you are paying for is probably not what you're getting. read more

When you walk in, the smell of the pet store is suffocating. They sell puppies in filthy cages withi grate flooring and no sort of bedding. Actually, a lot of the enclosures for the animals there weren't near adequate. This place is cruel and inhumane. I understand needing to feed pet snakes live food, but what i witnessed here was inexcusable. In the front of the store they had a ball python in a small cardboard box. The employees, 2 girls one blonde and one with black hairs, grabbed a fancy rat and put it in the box with the snake. The snake had no room to move around so of course the rat bit it. This is when the employee with black hair started punching the rat in the box. When the rat still fought back they grabbed the rat by the tail and started slamming it onto the floor. They were having fun with it like it was some sort of game. You don't feed your snakes live food like that. If you're going to do that why are you going to do that in the front of the store. This store is disgusting in so many ways. How this place is still open when it's inhumane for all of its animals is beyond me. read more

I bought a filter system for my turtle tank here. The same day my boyfriend bought one so I decided to return the one I bought from here. At the checkout the guy was on his phone texting and scrolling through social media the entire time. I never got a receipt for my transaction, I even asked and the printer had "malfunctions" printing it. I try to return this unopened and new filter and they can only offer store credit. This pet store epitomizes everything awful with the pet industry. I came in because I was looking for natural cat litter and raw dog food- neither of which I could find. That should have been my first tip off. Then there was the incredible smell, which made me look around and begin to question the legitimacy of this place... I have worked in the animal care industry. This is NOT A NORMAL PLACE. AFTER WALKING AROUND THIS PLACE I BEGAN TO CRY. Not to mention, none of the employees here seemed interested in helping me, even as I became visibly upset. Here's why I cried: The animals are all kept in tiny- TINY- cramped cages with no food, inadequate water, and poor care. Small cages are understandable if there is quick turnover and we are talking about small animals, reptiles and fish who are not crammed in with too many others. However, there are pets here who have obviously been here for a looooong time. Missing eyes, toes, scales, fur, fins, teeth and tails are all common here. The puppies are ALL sourced from mills. They live horrible, dirty, painful lives until someone pays far too much money for them to go directly to the vet and fix all their medical problems. Behavioral problems are also incredibly common for these poor puppies, including problems with housebreaking, socialization, anxiety and more. I think asking someone to pay $600-$900 for a puppy that is literally sitting in its own urine and has for its entire life is outrageous...Not to mention its poor parents who are kept as breeding slaves until they are tossed or killed at an early age- Partners won't even give you any information about where these dogs come from. They just say "AKC accredited breeders" which means exactly nothing. The reptiles are kept inhumanely as well- housed inter species and with low humidity and no cover. The turtles have bacteria infections and lots and lots of animals here are injured, sick or dying. Small mammals are kept in cruel confinements, filthy and crammed together. I saw mice almost pushing through the cracks in their "enclosure". If you want to support cruelty treated animals- please- buy this places wares. As for Cynthia, who left the 5 star review right before I left this- sure, no one is forcing me to go into this store. No one is forcing anyone to buy anything, ever. But this is a review site, and I feel it's part of my responsibility to bring awareness and shed some light on the things that are useful to people who want to make an informed decision. Supporting puppy mills and animal cruelty will not make this world a better place. Please, don't support this store. The puppies are in metal cages, their legs fall through the metal caging holes, they have no beds, it's too hot in there and the puppies were licking and scraping with their teeth the empty food bowls. It's a good idea in theory, keeping their waste away from their bodies, but they need beds! Happened upon the restaurant next door and decided to check this place out while we were there; I haven't been able to get the thought of these poor animals out of my head since. We only made it through the first few feet of the store before we couldn't take it anymore and left. The first thing that hits you is the smell. There's no way this place is kept clean with that strong of a smell permeating the store. The condition of the cages further signals the lack of care received by these babies. There were way too many rats being held in one open tank. The puppies. :-( They're all in cages with grated flooring that is so old the coating on the wire is falling off. Their beds looked unclean and definitely needed to be replaced. How can you expect someone to think you truly care for these animals when you can't be bothered to replace a $7 pet bed that has clearly exceeded its usefulness?
