It's been a hot minute since my first trip to Parsons, but the sweet memories linger. I love the feel of this family run bakery. Nothing pretentious about this place, just delicious baked goods at a reasonable price. I was also impressed by the variety. For my first visit I went with a smattering of treats including a frosted mint brownie, a cinnamon roll, and what can only be described as a glazed donut stuffed with Raspberry Floof Awsomeness. They were all great but the donut creation was my hands down favorite. Worth the drive up North for sure. If you are ever in Bountiful you need to give Parsons a try! read more

I wasn't that impressed with parsons bakery. I don't know if it was all the hype or pre-thoughts going in with everyone telling me they were the best. But it was mediocre for me? One thing I didn't like is the prices. You really could just spend $10 dollars on 3 things and not know it. Which for the quality wasn't that GREAT for the prices they were asking. I had 3 things when I visited. The morning bun (probably the best of the 3 but was it worth the price? not really.. I could get better somewhere else in salt lake) The glazed donut (it was a solid good donut but a ton of places make the same quality donut for A LOT cheaper) The chocolate cinnamon roll (didnt really taste cinnamon-y just a chocolate donut and the dough was a little too raw-doughy for my taste) in the middle I'm sad I didn't love this place as much as I hoped but it was just ok. read more

Review based on sampling several different items but haven't visited the location. The milk chocolate cookies were a unique item for me, and quite good. The apple and peach cobblers were killer. Okay, this just jumped to my favorite bakery I'm Utah. I can't get over how good this place is and am super disappointed that I live in Lehi. The girls at the counter were incredibly helpful and patient in explaining what things were. You can tell this is a mom and pop bakery and they care about quality and customer service. I got a cinnamon roll, iced oatmeal raisin cookie, mint brownie, and chocolate iced donut with sprinkles. Cinnamon roll - soooo good. I usually default to kneaders when I want a good roll but this surpasses theirs. Doughy, just enough cinnamon insides, with a delish frosting. Cookie - my FAVORITE from this trip. I should have gotten 2. The flavors are perfect and has a Christmas feel to it. Brownie - just a great mint brownie. Donut - best part is that the icing was like....baked on. Most donuts you get the icing gets everywhere This was stuck to it and enough sprinkles to make your mouth pop with every bite. Basically, every time I go to Bountiful I will be stopping here. How have I neglected reviewing my favorite donut spot in Bountiful? I have been a happy customer since their days in Five Points mall. We're talking the eighties, people! My go-to donut is the chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and those teeny rainbow dot sprinkles. One bite of the crispy sweetness and I'm in pastry heaven! The chocolate croissant is also something to behold, the perfect blend of semi-sweet chocolate and flaky, buttery layers. They fall a tiny bit short when it comes to customer service, but most employees are pretty helpful. This is the primary reason for the 4 star review. Be warned, their coffee is ultra-nasty. I'm guessing it's something to do with the employees coming from the dominant culture in the area? You need to drink coffee to know coffee, ya know? Overall, this is the first place I come to for donuts in Bountiful. Nothing else really compares! Support local! read more

We have loved Parsons but back in March I ordered a lemon meringue pie. When I arrived, first I was told that I was early. Ok , I was. I said noon. It was 11:54. I told them that and they just stared at me. Then I was told they don't make lemon meringue pies. I said the person who answered your phone took the order and never said anything. Then after about 15 minutes, I had already paid, my pie came. I carried it to the car. When I sat down I noticed the pie was spilling over the edges. I took it back and told them that they forgot to make it and did it when I got there and I don't want it. I took a different kind of pie, no refund, no apology, just stares like they didn't know why I was upset. We are done with them. read more

I swear this bakery must put crack or something addicting in their baked goods, ok it's probably just sugar. You can't go wrong with Parsons Bakery and I can't believe their aren't more locations but I guess that's what makes them special. We are usually surrounded by mass produced foods but Parson Bakery is like being at home and having baked cookies and donuts made with minimal ingredients which is something I love. The chocolate chunk cookie is to die for, and if you order a dozen glaze donuts well I highly doubt you're going to share because they are that damn good! Really 2.5 stars. Came with my husband and one of my boys. Service was good, they weren't busy as it was late afternoon. I'm a sucker for treats. My son who loves donuts chose a chocolate covered long john. He didn't even eat half of it. He normally won't let you touch or sample his donuts. He said he didn't like it. My husband and I tried it and it wasn't worth eating. Pretty plain and lacking in flavor. I had a chocolate croissant. The croissant was baked perfectly. But seriously two tiny pieces of chocolate in it, the chocolate was delicious. But this was just okay. My husband had a German chocolate cookie and a sugar cookie, pink frosted. The German chocolate cookie was decent, the topping was the best part. The cookie was moist but not very chocolaty. Now the sugar cookie wasn't worth the calories. It was borderline gross, sorry I don't like to give bad reviews. I love my sweets but don't even bother with this one. It is really annoying too when places don't have prices listed anywhere. I paid just over $8 for these 4 items, no clue on price. Some were $2.99 others $1.99, just don't know. There baked cakes look beautiful. And maybe that is what people come for. I ordered a birthday cake with the decorator a month in advance. I sent her pics of what I wanted and it was pretty simple. She said, "No problem!". When I picked up the cake on Saturday for my daughters birthday I was pretty shocked that it was nothing like we had talked about. It was so bad that I went home and had to re-decorate the cake I just paid $50 for. The only thing that was right, was that I asked for purple frosting. Once we got to the cake for the party and started eating it no one could finish it. The frosting tasted so much of food coloring and the cake itself was incredibly dry. I would've been better off spending $14.99 at Smiths for a bday cake. Incredibly disappointed. read more

Always went to this place for donuts - which are just okay. We decided to check out the baked goods. We went with a sugar cookie. It was yummy with cream cheese frosting. Not that pretty of a cookie. The frosting covered it up. The snickerdoodle was the same cookie dough base rolled in sugar and cinnamon. The macaroon was okay. I've had better. I would get a sugar cookie again. I was slightly disappointed with the cookies and pastries. I got some chocolate chip cookies and then tasted a sample at Costco and must say the latter was much better and much less expensive. Once upon a time I had a cookie bake-off for my birthday. We bought chocolate chip cookies from all the best bakeries ranging from B-town to Downtown SLC, cut them into pieces, and then performed a single blind taste test with 5 party participants. The results: Parson's Bakery makes the BEST chocolate chip cookies. It's now been scientifically proven. Their donuts are also amazing. The cake ones pretty much melt in your mouth. Back in the good 'ole high school days I used to sneak out of class to go buy those delicious snackies. And I still have many fond memories from all the way back in the 5 Points mall days when I would go get dinosaur sugar cookies, which they still make, and they're still my most favorite sugar cookies. Ever. I had to cut one star, though, because I had them decorate a cake for my mother's birthday which falls at the end of October, and they put a giant witch on it. Not sure if a witch is the best topping for a "happy birthday Mom" cake. Thank goodness my mum has a sense of humor! read more

Update: too many returns to number. So I have discovered their soup here too, and yes, its GOOD. Go with the chicken wild rice, it is sooo delish. Also, be careful, they serve it really hot, (temp) so blow on it or wait a bit. They will let you try samples to choose a soup, and I always end up with the cwr, it seems to beat the others to me. The cake donuts are fantastic, as are their breads, and they do have day olds too. Go try. _______________________________ YAY i'm first! Although its a bakery, they do have a small lunch menu. For lunch, I have only tried the chicken salad sandwich, and man is it good! I got it on the potato roll - big and soft, and the ckn salad was excellent. So go try one. And then get a cooky or donut for dessert. I've been back twice, the sandwich was that good. 2nd visit I got a cake donut with chocolate frosting - my go-to donut for testing the overall donut yummy-ness. Passed! Nice job, Parsons. It baffles me why there are not more reviews for this Bountiful Institution! Come on, people! Parson's -- what is not to LOVE about everything in this bakery?! I have never had a better brownie - just chocolate, no nuts, no mint - in my life. And, I've had great brownies. Parson's are just simply my favorite. I love the buttery goodness of their buttercream frosting. I also love their cookies (German Chocolate = heaven) and they have great donuts (Chocolate and Maple swirl = mmmmmmm). I'm so glad that I can only visit this bakery. If I lived nearby, I would be 500 lbs. i look forward to every trip to Utah and have had friends bring me brownies when they visit me. You would figure they'd have better customer service being the only donut shop in the bountiful area. This was my second time going here , as I am new to the area. Last time we went in my daughter got a pink iced donut with sprinkles. Today she asked me if we could get one and I went during peak rain hour. I went inside and didn't see any in the display but decided to ask if they had any of the pink sprinkled donuts. The employee told me they have NEVER had pink iced donuts. I proceeded to say "oh we got one here last time we came in" then she she told me that was odd because they don't make any of those. Whatever , I then asked if I could get one chocolate sprinkled one and one white sprinkled one. I paid and went into my car and looked inside the bag , where she had placed a plain white iced donut . I went back inside to get it changed to the sprinkled one and she said you told me only white donut not sprinkled. She did exchange it but there was no need for her to try to first gaslight me into thinking they never sold pink donuts and then that i was the one mistaken when I ordered the white sprinkled one. I've got to be honest though, I can't really remember trying anything else in aaaall this time. Everything in their display case looks so tempting. I know dozens of people that like a large variety of everything they have to offer. Their German chocolate cookie is my husband's favorite. It's super rich, but between the chocolately, cocnut sugar sweats, he's dying of happiness with every bite. He also loves their raspberry filled cookie. My brother loves their cinnamon rolls. My mom enjoys their soups. Personally, I go for the cookies. I get a jumbo white (with no nuts), orange or a lemon cookie. The orange and lemon cookies have been infused with a little bits of, well, of orange and lemon. They're topped with orange and/or lemon icing. The jumbo white is topped with icing and white chocolate shavings. The cookies are thick and heavy sugar cookies, but they're very soft. I'll usually get 1 because they're rich and filling. Other times I'll get just a couple...I wouldn't want to spoil dinner. ;) Oooone thing I did notice. I hadn't gone for a long time and started going again, frequently (yeah, I had one of those years lol). I'm not sure what was going on, maybe a new baker? The cookies had too much salt and the texture was changing. The icing wasn't even right. It was melting and wasn't setting up as usual. I did not enjoy it for about 3 visits. After a few rounds it was back to normal. I'm hoping it was just a mistake and not that they're trying to change things. Definitely go try it all out! I don't think they have a bad thing to offer. What happened to the eclairs? When the employees hesitate and warn you when you try to order one it's a sign to go back to the old eclairs we have ordered since childhood. If the frosted sugar cookies changed I won't be in again. Not even the cheese & broccoli soup and bread bowl can change my mind. A girls gotta have standards. Don't change a perfect product.
