I have an unusual situation, my elderly mother fell in her bedroom and was there at least 24-48 hours before she was found. During that time she lost control of her bowels and thrashed about trying to get up, grinding the soil into the carpet. We inexpertly tried cleaning the stains and were very unsuccessful.
