Shisha
Masumi T.

We had some time to kill before dinner so we stopped here for shisha. We ordered double apple and water which was very smooth and nice. Service was very attentive - constantly filling water glasses, spraying bug spray for us and wiping the table. Sometimes it was a little too attentive because it broke up our conversation but otherwise we had a great time. Prices were quite high $1300 MXN (about $65 USD) for shisha. That's more than what I've paid in NYC so be prepared to splurge. With regards to a comment about the smell of excrement, it is caused by the decomposition of an abundance of seaweed. It is troubling many beaches including Tulum, Cozumel, Playa del Carmen, etc. It is not restaurant.

CACIO E PEPE CON ASTICE

Easily the best food i had in Tulum, in regards to price range i must admit everything in tulum is overpriced and makes you feel like you're back in the tourist traps of USA. Cocktails: the ill padrino and the cinema paradiso- ill padrino had an over the top presentation with flames and all. Both were delicious but i recommend the cinema paradiso! Appetizers: MELANZANE NAPOLETANA (eggplant parm) delicious!!!!! if you're gonna order anything you must order this. CARCIOFO PROVENZALES (roasted artichoke) exactly what you expect it to taste- cant go wrong Main plate: Cacio e pepe con Astice.. regret not asking what came with because they add lobster to this plate. i was not a fan of the grill taste of this particular plate and im sure its from the lobster. order it without the protein trust me! ATMOSPHERE: loud clubby scene where you dance behind the table vibe. Nice if thats what you're going for but take into consideration older family member who probably wont enjoy this scene. Feels like America; from the prices to the music! we requested Spanish music and were informed this restaurant chain prohibits them playing any Spanish music... ironic since this is in Mexico.

This spot was really nice. It was a little cold that day but it was still really nice. The food was good and the dessert as well. I tried the tiramisu cocktail, that was an explosion of flavor.

Carpaccio Di Manzo

What we ordered: - Carpaccio Di Manzo (beef): this was so delicious! I loved every bite of it. The cheese went so well with each bite of thinly sliced goodness. - Papardelle Al Ragu D'Michele (Ragu cooked for 12 hrs, contains waygu beef): pretty good, but didn't really taste that strong of the waygu, mostly tasted like ground beef to me. - Fettuccine Alla Carbonara Al Tartufo (truffle + pancetta, also comes with a cheese wheel show!!): was too cheesy for me :( I'd pass on this next time but the presentation was 10/10 - Birthday dessert (cheesecake in the middle!!): something good and sweet to finish off the night! - Tiramisu Espresso Martini: the alcohol to espresso flavor was a bit off Excuse some of the picture quality, it was super dark in the restaurant :(

This has to be the worst dining experience of my life. Im not even kidding considering the price for a "fine dining" experience. The only reason I feel that most people come here for is the ambiance. We came for dinner as a group of 5 and everything is dim lit. There's a live DJ vaping and wasn't doing anything when we were there. Like what's the point of even having him? Once seated we were greeted by a few people and were completely confused with who was actually our waiter. You are first asked with what drinks you want and the majority of our group got water. They do not tell you that they charge for water and we were shocked when we had been charged with 4 bottles. We don't even think we got 4 bottles because we had moved seats due to the rain and there was a random quarter amount of water in a bottle left at the center of our table. It's literally $8 per bottle for anyone who still wants to come here. We randomly had 3 plate changes even though we didn't have any food come out yet and the plates were unused. We had different people coming to ask us if we were doing okay even though there was no food that arrived yet. We were extremely confused. Once our food came out things got even worse when everyone tried each other's food. -Tuna Tagliatelle: worst dish out of the bunch because it was extremely fishy and unbearable. Friend ended up waking at 3 am with stomach problems. -Carbonera Fettucine with Truffle: they brought out a cheese wheel however as they were pulling the cart up the staff used it to store a wine bottle? So we thought it was a container. The staff had so much trouble warming up the cheese wheel because he put water in it? When it should be alcohol. The dish ended up tasting like butane. Yum am I right? -Ravioli: cold, sad, and came with a measly 5 pieces. -Risotto: one flavor which is creamy and cheesy and can be very tiresome to eat it the whole time -Beef tagliatelle with burrata: the only one that was worth it in comparison to the rest. Burrata felt like it came straight out a fridge When it came to payment, they oddly ask for your ID and note it down. No idea what that was about and they never told us why. ‍ For the price of all of this, it makes me super livid that this was the experience. I DO NOT recommend this place and would steer clear if you can. If you actually rated this place 4-5 stars I think you straight up have 0 taste or pretending it tastes good because of the amount you paid. Please support local Tulum restaurants instead! If you have no clue where to start I would on a food tour called Eating with Carmen. Takes you to all the local spots instead in downtown/city center of Tulum. If you're more into nicer dining, I would recommend Asadero! Good price, food, service, and ambiance. Way more worth than this establishment.

Not the worst meal I've ever sat down and paid this much for (I don't think) is about the best I can say so I'll focus on what was good; The place was absolutely stunning and with the hostess it was a dream walking to the table The complimentary bread was delicious, the carbonara was good and the black truffle beef tartare wasn't too awful either... There were an equal amount of complaints here though, so I'd go elsewhere; Tulum is full of heart and soul, this brand new spot just needs to work out the kinks I suppose, because it could be incredible.

Interior but this alone doesn't do justice

Oh, what a fun restaurant and food was great too. We were there in Februrary 2022 and found this by accident while we were strolling on the street in Tulum. Yes, it is Tulum and over the top but that's the point of this. Lobster, crawfish and blowtorched Fettucini that they would cook at your table, they're all excellent We were noticing that food we get in Tulum tends to be more bold, innovative and assertive in ways that we don't see anywhere else lately, not even in NYC. We were pleasently surprised and this restaurant was one of the reasons why I would say. We are plannning on returning to Tulum soon and this is definitely on the list.

LADIES! This is the place to go! Especially when you're having a girls celebration! We Loved every aspect of this 5 star restaurant! Daniel was our server and he was amazing! We had the king crab pasta and several other dishes and all of them tasted exquisite! Do your tastebuds a favor and corre no caminas!!

Came in here for dinner one of the night on vacation in Tulum. It's right on the beach strip, but the sign is a little small to see. When you first walk up it looks like some outdoor seating and a little bit inside, however it keeps going all the way back. There's even some cute couches in the back to take a nice picture. All the menus are scanned by your phone. Our waiter, Daniel, was absolutely amazing ! He was by far the server server we had during our entire time in Tulum. We started with some martinis with a face on them. They were the best martinis ever ! Al of their cocktails are good and al fresh. They start you out with a selection of bread. It's a lot ! I ordered the filet meal and it was cooked perfectly. My boyfriend ordered the lamb chops and said it was basically the best he's ever had. I highly recommend coming here for dinner ! Great experience

A laid back wood fired pizza spot with a super cool, relaxed ambience and the friendliest energy. We ordered the pepperoni pizza and honestly I've never had anything like it. It's insanely good. Pair it with their habanero sauce and jalapeños and it is literally fire. Perfectly cooked, bold flavor, unforgettable. We also ordered the Caprese with apples, almonds, and beets and wow. Such a fresh and different take on a salad. Every ingredient tasted so clean and vibrant. My tummy was genuinely happy after this meal, which says a lot. It's not far from where we're staying near Azulik, which made it even better. The vibe is effortless, chill, and welcoming. Bonus points for the two local cats, who are absolutely adorable and add so much charm to the place. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, and the menu has so many choices that there is truly something for everyone. If pizza is your love language and you're anywhere near Tulum, Boccanera is a must visit.

We put our name on a list, but no phone number was given so really it's a wait for a table or come back type of situation. We ended up leaving and coming back 40 mins later and were sat quickly outside. The pizzas are OUTSTANDING! I think the reviews all say that and it's the truth. The crust is Neapolitan style thinner crust but the flavor is just spot on! The toppings and sauce are well balanced. The roasted chicken was a great addition to the vegetarian. If they made cheese sticks with a marinara sauce with that crust it would be a HUGE seller! The green salad was pretty standard and not much that was memorable or forgettable, just good and as expected. Unfortunately, the bruschetta was a huge let down -- we literally received halved cherry tomatoes on a piece of bread. They served it with olive oil to drizzle, but that did not even come close to what we expected. There are a few cats that roam the outside patio, but they don't bother you much. The staff was welcoming and we had good conversation with the server even for it being 20 mins before they closed.

Make sure to make a reservation in advance, especially for Thursday through the weekend. We visited at 8:30 and we felt like it was the perfect time because a lot of the performances began around nine. The service is top-notch. From putting the napkin in your lap to arranging a miniature coat rack to hang your jacket, they pay attention to detail. Not to mention, though the atmosphere takes priority here, the food was also very good. We ordered a steak and the shrimp risotto. The shrimp were colossal. I have never seen shrimp so big. Most of their specialty cocktails are quite acidic and that night I was craving whiskey so I ordered an old-fashioned and it was also very good. I would say this spot in particular is well known for big groups and bachelorette dinners. It is quite loud, so keep that in mind. It's also in line with other nice restaurants in Tulum regarding price, but we felt it was worth it. Lastly, make a note that they charge for water so you're not surprised when you get the bill.

Memorable? Even more so. Great atmosphere, great service, and legitimately great food to back it up. We laughed, ate way too much, and left buzzing from the whole experience. I was down on the beach road fannying about & decided to go & check it out. It's small alright, VERY small & the beach, although quite lovely is smaller than my backyard. I bet you can't even get 15-20 people on that small beach area without feeling like sardines. Anyhoo, the lady at the front desk told me that they charge $20USD to sit on their beach all day (if your not staying in the hotel) & that the restaurant was all organic. When I sat down in the restaurant I could barely get any service. There was literally no one around bc there was tons of seaweed on the beach & in the ocean making it impossible to get in the water so there was no people in sight. I finally did get a waiter & he brought me a bottle of water. Never ask me if I wanted a drink or anything just left me there all alone with the sounds of crashing seaweed against the beach. LOL He finally did come & ask me if I wanted to order some food & I said yes, let me try this caprese salad & he walked away. So, out comes the tiny caprese salad with barely no dressing on it. I think, well this must be some very very tasty salad to have almost no dressing on it. So I dig in. Everyone that knows me KNOWS I grow a organic garden every year on my farm. I know my organic veggies & this was no organic salad. The greens were super fresh & it was plated pretty. However, the tomatoes had absolutely no flavor, not organic. Not even close. And the "supposedly fresh organic moz cheese" was store bought. After wasting over a hour of my day all alone, starring at fugly organic seaweed washing up on the beach & eating a tasteless pretty salad, I decided that "Dune" was a fitting name for this lampoon. It might be many a moon b4 I return to Dune.

So definitely the beet! We are sure tried the fish collar, which many people skip not realizing that this might be the most delicate and flavorful part of the fish. In fact I was tempted to just have two orders of this as my main dish. I had the Wildflower drink, which was light and delicate. We were able to come early at 6pm, only half an hour after they open, and by the time we left an hour later, to say they were full is an understatement. If you like to start the evening calm, as I do, I'd highly suggest coming early and then wandering the street. This also gives you a little time to talk to your wait staff. The server we had (I apologize, I have forgotten his name but I'll ask my husband and add it later) guided us through the menu and had excellent knowledge of each item. And, like everyone we've encountered here, was so gracious with his time and presence. I never feel rushed here as I do in some other tourist focused places. Gratuity is included, yet I'd say adding some is most deserved.

Menus are written on sandwich boards placed around the restaurant and the waiters come to your table and explain every menu item in detail. My waiter was very helpful with recommendations and answering any questions I had. I ordered the collar de pescado and the tostada de tartar for my apps, the fillete de robalo (sea bass) for a main, and the berenjena (roasted eggplant) for a side. The collar de pescado, the sea bass collar, was absolutely delicious. The fish was soft and tender, topped with a robust tomato based sauce. Super flavorful. 9/10. The tostada de tartar was also outstanding. The crisp tortilla paired perfectly with the soft fresh fish. The fish mixture was light, creamy, and a little spicy, topped with some greens for freshness and finished off with some lime juice for acidity and brightness. 10/10. The sea bass fillet was cooked perfectly, the fish was soft and juicy and had an incredible crispy skin that gave it a wonderful crunch. It was paired with a creamy sauce, spinach, and cauliflower. The different elements of the dish worked well together, with the vegetables cutting through the richness of the fish and the sauce adding flavor and a contrasting texture to the crispy fish skin. 9/10. The eggplant was good, however it was my least favorite dish. The eggplant was soft and flavorful on the inside, however the skin was a little bit tough. The mole it was paired with had a nice smoky flavor and I wish there had been more of it. 8/10. For dessert I got their only dessert, the honey cake. OH MY GOD THIS DESSERT WAS LIFE CHANGING. Probably one of if not the best dessert I've ever had. The cake was very dense, with the consistency of a blondie. The honey taste is subtle and there is also a slight smoky flavor that comes through from being cooked in their wood fire oven. The cake is topped with a chamomile whipped cream and salt. The whipped cream is so light and airy while still being incredibly creamy. The lightness of the whipped cream works perfectly with the richness of the cake. The salt on top really takes it up a notch. 11/10. My only complaints are that the wooden benches you sit on are very uncomfortable and it gets very smoky from the wood burning oven, and I was seated almost at the other end of the restaurant. It was also quite loud but the place is small and it was packed, nothing the restaurant can do about that. Prices are steep but well worth it in my opinion.
