The group I went with to Tulum came across El Bacaro while walking around Tulum. It is an Italian place, so they have plenty of pizza and pasta. Me and my girlfriend shared the spinach ravioli, some burrata, and a chicken salad. We also got complimentary bread for the table which wasn't too bad. It was fresh and the oil that it came with tasted pretty good. The ravioli was quite good, probably the best thing we had. It was pretty flavorful and each bite was just as good as the first. I believe the pasta is made in house, but not entirely sure. The burrata was good as well, but nothing too special. The same can be said for the salad as well. While it did pack quite a bit of ingredients, it still tasted kind of bland. Like it was missing something. It wasn't terrible though. Needless to say, we did finish all of our food, and left no crumbs. We also got some red wine as well. I believe it was a cabernet recommended to us by our server. It was pretty good! Some of the other members in our party got some pizza as well, and they mentioned how it tasted really good. So definitely get a pizza to share, if you are unsure on what to get on the menu. Overall, I would definitely want to come back to this place. The service was excellent and the food wasn't too bad either. Be wary of some the people that will come inside and try to sell you stuff. Just tell them you are not interested and they will get out of your way.

Perfect ratio of cheese, sauce and toppings. Service: 4/5 Our waiter was great. He was attentive, fast and accommodating. Ambiance: 4/5 Cute, clean and modern. Best part are the animals! So many animals inside!
Dined here on suggestion of a local. Was not a disappointment. Service was good, food was better and drinks were amazing. The prices are extremely reasonable. I would recommend the coconut mojito and the fettuccine bolognese. The only negative, and it wasn't really a negative, it was more of an annoyance, is that there are street performers that perform for the guest. Our table was in the middle of conversation so we didn't really watch the "show" but yet they were harassing us to tip them. Could've done without that but it's all good.
Wow! What a surprise! I was on a mission to find a good pizza. Pizza in Tulum has been a never ending adventure. You don't have to look ANY FURTHER! This place was heaven sent! We ordered the margarita pizza with pepperoni and the fettuccine Bolognese. I HAVE NO WORDS! WOW! Very very very delicious food. The service was EXCELLENT and the wine options were great! All in all, a great place to visit and have delicious pizza and pasta! Prices are extremely reasonable. Don't miss out!
I was craving pasta while exploring Tulum and I'm so happy I found El Bacaro. Everyone was friendly, from the bartender, the pizza artist and my waitress. The complimentary bread and oils were deliciously fresh. I ordered 2 glasses of Chardonnay, Tuna Salad and the Salmon Pasta Alfredo. Hands down the best I've had, so fresh and great quality fish. All for under $50 not including the tip. I highly recommend.
Wow...... must eat here, this is an amazing Italian gem in Tulum! first off, service was so great, nice staff and pretty quick with all drinks and food! Not much wait time after you order. Forgot to take a picture before because it was so good and we were starved, but the buffala pizza was impressive!!!! So yummy, it was a pleasant surprise. The arugula salad is pretty standard, also don't have a pic. The pastas were so good, we came back the next day haha. Highly recommend the spinach ravioli and with tomato sauce (it comes normally with a butter sauce so you would need to ask to get it with tomato), the bolognese was such a great balance and the pastas themselves are great quality, fresh and well made. The gnocchis are really tender and fluffy as well and with a bit of sat and pepper to taste really came to life! Do yourself a favor and stop by here, have a bottle of wine, or maybe shots of mezcal until they close. We did both. Whatever you're in the mood for it's a really wonderful place for dinner :)

The food is amazing. I got the steak tartare, steak, pasta, and a chocolate tart. HOWEVER when I got my delivery, the food was in shambles. The pasta leaked everywhere, the tart came broken as if the delivery man maybe took a piece? & the steak tartare was a giant mush. Worst part is I specifically asked for utensils and of course it came with none. So I couldn't even really eat my food especially the steak. Please DO BETTER because your food is actually good. read more
High quality authentic Italian food! Amidst the power outage in Tulum, this restaurant had a power generator running and was pushing out quality cuisine. The service is very good, with the waiters/servers ensuring that you are comfortable, and are aware of all the deliciousness on the menu. The ambiance is very chill, yet lively at the same time. You can enjoy your meal amongst others who are dining in. I ordered a mixed salad which was delicious, and also linguini with clams and tomatoes. The linguini was on point! I could tell that the pasta was fresh and handmade!!! The sauce was so delicious with nice earthy notes of garlic and herbal notes of parsley. What a treat! Cheers to good eats! read more

Pretty darn cost effective, too, especially compared to the spots on the beach Service: sweet and attentive folks are there for anything you need Ambiance: an industrial chic oasis in the middle of somewhat downtrodden neighborhood. Stopped in for the vibe and a quick pick me up from the heat. Only had sips at the bar but the service and drinks were excellent. Today called for martinis, I had an espresso and my friend a classic. Yummy! read more

this place was amazing! my husband could not stop raving about how flavorful the carbonara was! and my bolognese was to die for! we sat in the back and it was quiet and the perfect first night to our honeymoon! we will definitely come back here read more

Great service, amazing pizza and affordable. What else can you ask for? Really close to a lot of other bars and restaurants but this one is one of our top 2 so far. We had a calzone, gnocchi, and some beers. Cute and safe neighborhood. read more

Great atmosphere, kind service, and good food. My three star review is a result of the extended time it took to cash and out and pay. I'm not usually one to complain on timing, but on this particular visit it took us nearly 40 minutes after requesting our checks to get them and then pay. It also wasn't clear to us that we had to stand up to pay at the register, as it didn't seem like other tables had been doing that prior. I'd visit again, but would be weary of the extended timing it takes from start to finish. read more

I can't write enough positive things about this place. So delicious, we went back a second time. The first visit I ordered Linguine with Clams and it was actual perfection in a dish. It was buttery with the ideal amount of garlic. They start the meal with fresh bread, paired with Parmesan, a chilli oil, olive oil, and/or balsamic vinegar. I also ordered a Mezcal Margarita. The amount of pride the bartender took in the drink was impressive, I wish I had a photo of it. It was incredible. Our second visit I ordered the fettuccine bolognese- again, absolute perfection. The sauce was incredibly delicious and the pasta tasted fresh. I never imagined I'd venture to Tulum and spend my time eating pasta, but I wouldn't have had it any other way. read more

Pretty much everything was good. We got the salmon fettuccini and shrimp fettuccini. Everything was tasty and cooked well. Staff was friendly and prices were very affordable. Bathrooms were clean. We spent five days in Tulum and tried many restaurants of all prices. El Bacaro is a must visit on any trip here. We preferred this place to equivalent restaurants in the zona hotelera. The ambiance is fantastic. Great music and lighting. Our only complaint is that we discovered this place on our last day. We will definitely visit again. Sorry we forgot to take pictures of the food because it was so good. read more

I was very disappointed. The two stars were for the Long Island iced tea. The Calzone with ham scores 3Bs, it was burnt, banal and bland. The first one was black on about half of the top. The occasional black spot is ok, the oven is very hot, the 'chef' is busy. But not half of the top! I sent it back. The second one was less black, but still had black parts, see the picture. As I was eating I realized the filling wasn't especially hot, which was surprising since I bet they'd put the old filling in the new crust. Then I noticed a 'hole' in the top. There had been a burnt bubble on the crust, so the 'chef' had removed the burnt surface. See second picture. It wasn't good, it wasn't especially cheap. That's what I get for going to an Italian restaurant in Mexico! read more
