Located in downtown Tulum. You get a lot bang for your buck here. Portions are extremely generous. Tasty food lots of variety that caters to tourist and locals. They take credit cards, even when many places are cash only. Service was really good after we tipped them in the beginning. La querida is an authentic and affordable breakfast option on the main area of downtown Tulum. The decorations are really great and the swing set tables are a lot of fun. It is probably a great place for dinner and drinks in the after hours, but we went to check it out earlier in the morning. The great surprise were the espresso drinks like lattes and capuccinos that are not that prevalent in Mexico but made great at La Querida. The green smoothies and juices are made fresh to order and are a great way to start the day. I had the Chilaquiles with chicken and they were a very delicious and filling way to start the day. Enjoyed thin crust pizza on the 4th day of my stay in Tulum. I had my pizza customized with shrimp, calamari and mushroom and it was delicious with the right amount of char on the crust. A bit on a salty side but it's probably just me. The server was attentive and friendly. There will be an extra charge ( a few$) if you customize even though they tell you there won't be any. ( Not surprised) I also enjoyed the breeze and people watching from the patio since this is one of the busy streets in town. read more

Stopped in here while biking around Tulum. We found ourselves with no pesos and some of the restaurants would only take cash - so we were happy when they said they took credit cards. It worked out great because we loved our meal and our drinks. I had fish tacos that were excellent and my bf had steak tacos which he loved. We sat outside which is my favorite place to eat whenever possible. We sat next to some really nice ladies and chatted all through our meal, and they gave us tips on getting around. It was past my lunch time, and I was starving. I ordered a pizza to go. I almost got up and left, but I stayed because I was so hungry. It took almost 25 minutes for my pizza to be ready. But it was so worth the wait, I got the vegetarian pizza, and normally I eat modestly, but I ate 3/4 of the pizza. I loved the cheese, because I don't like mozzarella cheese that clumps up in my mouth when it's hot, this is more like a cheddar consistency soft and melty. A group of eight and I were constantly ignored and mocked by the servers who refused to help us and even resorted to bumping one of us out of the way. Upsides: -Food was very good - excellent piña coladas, pineapple pizza, salad, and papas fritas! -Super spot for people watching - on the corner of the main drag & a hip side street with music, lights, shops, pedestrians, bicycles and taxis whizzing by. -You can sit outside on the sidewalk or inside - which is breezy and open on all sides via broad archways. Downsides: -Service was a little slow... granted, it's Mexico, and restaurants aren't a get-them-in-and-out-as-quickly-as-possible type of experience like in the States, but still. -Very loud due to traffic & blenders constantly going at the bar. -Vendors wandered in & out throughout the meal, trying to sell various things to all the tables - honey, herbs, candy, roses, jewelry... The restaurant staff didn't appear to discourage this at all, and frankly, it really detracted from our experience. Bottom line, if Yelp allowed for half stars, I'd rate this one 3.5. We didn't eat anything besides chips, salsa, and guacamole, but the food looked delicious. Amazing food, great service, great prices! I had the Italianisimo pizza and my wife had the flame-grilled butterfly shrimp. They both exceeded expectations! This was one of the best pizzas I've had anywhere in the world! And the shrimp? I envied my wife the shrimp, even though I had such a great pizza. The service was fast and friendly, the wine was delicious, but reasonably priced. The tiramisu for dessert was good too, though definitely not the highlight of the meal. We wanted to try out a place in town and our concierge recommended this; she had me at "lobster pizza". It's a funky little place and I did enjoy the pizza, eventually. It took almost an hour from when we ordered to when we finally got the food, which wasn't very 5*. My BF ordered a salad to start and this came AFTER the pizza, a good 15 minutes or so after! I would say this is a good place to sit and drink beer while watching the world go by, but I'm hard-pressed to recommend a place that takes so long to get the food out. read more

I don't know how this restaurant has as many stars as it does. I would not recommend this place. They over charge for everything. We ordered beans and rice and were charged $110 pesos for each plate that contained two small scoops of rice and a tiny side plate--not a bowl--of beans. They were good beans, but not worth that much. I also had the fettuccini Alfredo which was repulsive and flavorless-- a little salt and pepper would have been nice. The lobster was good but over cooked and expensive. To continue, I called their line 5 times to try to place an order and they were rude and unprofessional. I wish I hadn't given this place so much of my money. read more

This was without a doubt the best pizza in Tulum. We ordered one pepperoni and one with ham and fresh mushrooms. The pizza was cooked in a wood fired oven and came out with perfect chewy, crispy crust. Three of us finished both pizzas.
