It has very low ceilings very few windows and from the street. There's only one large sign to see it. Even on the building itself there are no signs on it not even on the door. Parking here is a little unusual as there is some parking in the front that I think you can park in that is shared with the florist. Otherwise, you have to drive to the back to the very construction looking area to find parking. Once in let me say that the staff was very friendly there was quite a bit of them, and we were seated immediately. Unfortunately, again going back that I think this used to be some type of a commercial space converted. The bathroom door is open directly into the dining space and there is no separate hallway for it. We were seated in the very last booth closest to the restrooms. The staff was very friendly, patient and attentive, so this was fantastic. There is a sign that says that this is family run by the Barrera family. And it's so great to know that we can patronize a small business. The food came out very very quickly, which was fantastic so no complaints there and it came out piping hot, which is even better. The portions seem really big however please note that the hashbrowns alone took up half the plate. So it would have been nice to get a third option available on the menu to put with your dish for the plate for example of fruit option even for my Benedict or a fruit option or another vegetable or carb for that omelette. There was so much food that we took some of it home as well primarily due to the hashbrowns. The only real complaint is the coffee here. It is so thin and it is basically brown colored water that after this we went across the street to Starbucks to get real coffee. I know this place is new and is definitely trying to get its footing so I look forward to it succeeding and then being able to really improve upon the space or better yet get a better building and location.

After sitting down, I had to use the restroom. BIG mistake. There was feces all over the bathroom floor, on the sink area, and even on the door handle. This wasn't just a small mess--it was a significant amount of solid feces throughout the bathroom. When I returned to my table, I noticed that feces had also gotten onto the rug near the front/register area, where I was sitting. I immediately informed my waitress, who then notified the front desk. Eventually, someone came to clean it up. At that point, I had completely lost my appetite. After an experience like that, you would think management would come over, apologize, and offer to refund the meal since I was no longer able to eat. Instead, I was simply given a senior discount. That was extremely disappointing. I will say that my waitress was very kind and showed genuine empathy. She brought me a warm, soapy towel so I could clean my hands and even clean the bottom of my shoe. I truly appreciated her compassion because she was the only person who seemed to understand how upsetting the situation was. What disappointed me most was that the manager never came over to apologize or even acknowledge what had happened. I understand that accidents happen, but the way a restaurant handles an extremely unsanitary situation says a lot about its customer service. Today I made an exception and what a surprise I got. I sat outside with my dog Zeke, not knowing that friendly dogs are allowed inside (and they aren't required to drink coffee!). I ordered my usual cappuccino with hazelnut and stayed outside with Zeke, enjoying the sights and sounds of downtown Crown Point. My coffee was flavored with just the right amount of hazelnut and sweetness. I googled Ms Zolfo and found out she made national news for the goodness she spreads. Inspirational words are written on each coffee sleeve and she encourages people to spread it forward. She had a steady stream of customers while I was there. Most order their coffee to go. I chatted with her during a pause in customers and she revealed that she was hit hard during the covid pandemic and just recently re-opened the dining area, although she still hasn't brought back her food menu. The back wall is now full of cards and letters from customers who have thanked her for helping them. The little coffee shop truly is an uplifting place to start one's day.

They've taken clear shortcuts: not caramelizing the onions enough, using croutons instead of French bread, and sticking a slice of cheese on top and microwaving instead of baking the dish in the over. There is an artificial sweetness that has been added rather than coming naturally from the caramelized onions. So I would not recommend ordering the French onion soup.
