With the small storefront, I wasn't expecting much from this place. However, I was definitely pleasantly surprised. I always appreciate a business that allows you to sample food products before purchasing. They are a chocolatier, where they make their own chocolates on site. As you walk by the store front, you can see the chocolate being made. They seem to specialize in single origin and specialty chocolate bars. Additionally, they sell truffles and a few other products. If you are a chocoholic like me, you're like going to not want to rush while here. They do have odd hours, and close at 5:00 PM. Good idea to call ahead and make sure they are open. While the storefront is small, the experience is quite intimate. I loved the smells you're hit with upon entering the doorway. I only got to visit them during early Pandemic (2020/2021) so I'm not sure if they started back up/do samplings any more. If I'm looking for a nice gift that represents local goods, Parliament is the spot I like to go. Their single origin chocolate bars are available at a few local spots like Gerrard's. If I could wish a cool unique experience pop up in Redlands, it would be the addition of a chocolate tasting experience here at Parliament, that not only teaches people of the process of chocolate making but the art of chocolate tasting like wine tasting. read more

This is a very small and charming chocolate shop. As soon as we walked in, I was pleasantly surprised by the delicious aroma of chocolate. We were excited to try different flavors and ended up ordering six truffles. My favorites were the matcha, coconut, and rose. All were rich and flavorful. I'd love to come back just for the truffles, but the customer service makes me hesitate. The young woman who helped us seemed unfriendly and distant. A tiny little storefront. I first found Parliament via a Kickstarter and my wife loved one of their single origin bars. Sadly, that one was discontinued, as happens with products that are not mass-produced. We don't live in town, but made a special trip (Parliament Pilgrimage?) on our way between LA and Phoenix. We tried to visit previously, but the pandemic had just closed everything the week before we were driving through town. Thankfully, they are not a one-trick pony. I'm a fan of most of their chocolates. I would say ALL, but I haven't tried all of the new ones yet. For the record, I do tend to favor chocolate that is between 70 and 90% cacao and contains only cacao and sugar. The flavor nuances of the beans themselves and the roasting process emerge in the hands of skilled artisans like the people here. The chocolate is flavorful and generally smooth and creamy. Most of the chocolate bars are on the darker side, though I believe they had a milk chocolate bar this time. I prefer the bars, but they also have some handmade candies -- bonbons or pralines and such -- I don't know how those are, but if they're made with their chocolate, I can't imagine them being anything but great. The lady behind the counter was helpful to our extended family and answered questions about the candy pieces while I picked out the bars that I wanted. Parking can be a challenge. The shop is tiny -- if you blink, you'll miss it. Also, to set expectations, this shop is TINY and they don't have more than a few products. That's not a criticism at all, but I feel like some people may benefit from understanding the scale and scope ahead of time. read more

We finally made it to Parliament! Ever since I tried their Bolivia bar years ago I've been a huge fan. Their single origin chocolate bars are wonderful. I definitely prefer the dark chocolate varieties. As for the truffles, I tried the Tanzania truffle, brown sugar square, and mint. The brown sugar square was very good, but I think I'd buy Parliament's chocolate bars over their truffles. The shop is very small - not really a space to linger in. Parking is also tricky because it's downtown Redlands. Very good craft chocolate though. read more

I entered the shop and NOT greeted by a female who looked at me so strangely, like I entered the wrong place! She did not say a word until I asked what the options are. The most crazy part is that they open at 10:00. A.m and THEN she starts to make chocolates!!! So even though the business hours are 10-4, the chocolates are not ready until 12. I love supporting local & I love artisan chocolate but I've had better than local/artisan than Parliament. It's in a cute, unsuspecting spot & city in GENERAL, but I was not a big fan. I ordered a 4ct for my in-laws & they loved it. However, I had the Peanut Butter Round in the shop and I was a bit grossed out that the bottom of the chocolate was oily from the oil separating from the peanut butter. The husband and I spent a day in the Redlands. College towns hold a place in my hear and I'd like to retire in one also. I was first introduced to Parliament Chocolate in the form of a drinking chocolate at Augies Coffee at Vail Ranch in Temecula (the original location is here in the Redlands). In NCSD, Revolution Roasters in Oceanside, California. Uses their chocolate also! I like it, it's bittersweet and more European in style, not overly sweet like most chains... I read up on the history of the owners and the business. Everyone should have a good story. For instance, I asked about the owl theme. They created an owl for each country of origin where they source their cocao beans from; Guatemala, etc... What I love about this first location, small batch chocolate shop is it's quaint size, but don't let the small size fool you because it's filled with big flavor, it's pure chocolate and pure cane sugar. As you walk up to the window you can watch chocolate being churned in a mixing bowl, great for the young kids and big kids alike. We picked up some truffles, caramels and a special Mother's Day Strawberry Bark and all I can say is Yelp, thanks, WOW! You don't have to have a special occasion to stop in, chocolate is for anyone, anytime and if this is not your thing, stop by and try their handmade nitro ice cream at a'la minute. Parliament smells great and has an old-timey vibe. That said, it's tiny and not a place to hang out. I got a small cup of drinking chocolate ($3) which didn't really do it for me. It was basically like drinking a chalky, melted chocolate bar. I did appreciate the Chanthaburi Thai chocolate bar ($7) they had. I'm not sure I'd ever seen chocolate made from Thai cacao before, so this is both a rarity and pretty cool. And it tasted great. Parliament also has a couple rum/vodka-filled chocolate truffles (their only other vegan options), but I didn't like these at all. I think they were $3 each. Maybe we hit Parliment on an off day because our experience was less than satisfactory. First there was no smell of chocolate, and the shelves and cases were bare save for one of each type of truffle. We walked in and no one was there. Finally someone came out and looked at us. No offer to help us choose, or explain the offerings even after we said this was our first time there. I also mentioned that I was looking for favors for an event. No suggestions offered. Lost sale there. Onto the chocolates. We had six. Can't remember the names, but they were spicy, sweet, earthy, and grainy profiles. Coconut and coffee stood out. They were interesting and delicious. That beings said I had hoped for more of an experience and education having visited the website and read about the passion and process. A small sheet listing the various chocolates with a picture that also told a bit about it such as main ingredients, country of origin of beans, and the like would be nice and something to enhance the tasting. I love this chocolate shop. So glad I don't have to drive all the way to Santa Barbara for a delicious morsel of homemade chocolate. The shop is small and rich and chocolate fragrance as all their products are made on site. Awesome customer service. Isais has been very helpful in describing flavor profiles and even went as far as explains the chocolate process from beginning to end for my 9 year old daughter. This guy is a genius. Faves: #1 orange truffle, Mayan (spicy kick at the end), coffee/cappuccino caramel, of course I pretty much end up getting one of each, but these stand out the most. Did I mention the orange? Redlands is a strange but fascinating place. State Street offers VILLAGE CANDY KITCHEN, which is a little too old school and bland for my tastes. PARLIAMENT appears to be the cure, but the chocolates are a little too intense and bitter sometimes. The opposite problem. They're also moody about being open. I'd rather favor this type of local hipster chocolate spot -- but I fear it has to step up on hours and offer some mouth watering milkier chocolates. read more

I've been coming here a few years now, and would usually pop in and pick up a few chocolates after visiting Augies Coffee (which uses Parliament Chocolate for their lattes!). Now, I'm not usually a truffle chocolate fan, but Parliament has definitely made me a believer. They melt in your mouth and you can really taste the flavors. My favorites are the Spicy Mayan, the Raspberry/Strawberry, and my ultimate favorite chocolate from here are the toffees. So. Dang. Good. And also the peanut butter ones too. Price-wise I think is very fair for everything being hand made in shop. The people here are also very nice and patient when you're deciding on which chocolates to take. They will also wrap up your chocolate box with your ribbon color of choice if needed as well! I thought that was a nice touch, when I had mentioned I was buying them for my mom for her birthday. Wonderful establishment. It smells delicious when you walk in, and the woman who assisted us was very knowledgeable of the products and patient while we decided what to order. Got some samples when we walked in and also tried the hot chocolate. The hot chocolate was super intense and rich but delicious. I am not a hipster, but I find myself to be a connoisseur of hipster chocolate. Any shop that has a window into their factory where you can see the flannel clad workers roasting, cracking and winnowing their ethically sourced beans, is a place after my heart. I have hit a lot of the big names on the West Coast (Theo, TCHO, Dandelion), and I think Parliament is just as good. Their Bolivian bar is pure magic (and only $6). I have tried a few of the confections, and I must say that I prefer the bars. I couldn't really get into the truffles. The salted caramel, on the other hand, was very tasty. They take their caramel just to the edge of burnt, like it should be, and top it with a nice flaky sea salt. Be careful when you bite into it though, it is a little runny. It is truly amazing what these guys are producing in the little town of Redlands. It is something one would expect to see in a much larger city. If you are in the area on a Friday-Sun, stop on by. Nestled in a tiny, quaint part of Redlands, this chocolate shop is largely unassuming. Adding to the mystery are its odd hours. However, deeply in need of sweets for my brother's birthday, I gave it a chance and it was magically open (it's like 12 Grimmauld Place). First off, it smells DIVINE in this ridiculously tiny shop. You can smell it when you park a mile off. You can smell it even better when you walk through the doors and you get this lovely waft of heaven. The walls are adorned with hand drawn prints of the cutest owls ever. They all look very magestic but hipster at the same time. It's quite a sight. The chocolates are insanely reasonably priced. I picked up an assortment of the chocolates and their take on a Mounds bar. I was so thrilled with my purchases because it was enough for 3 AND it was under $11. It was GOOD but felt it was kind of on the expensive side. The employee was friendly and welcoming. I appreciate their use of cardboard packaging and felt they store was clean and environmentally conscious. The chocolates were flavorful. We got a salted caramel and a lemon truffle. I'd say the salted caramel was good size and fair price but the lemon truffle was on the small side and did not feel it was adequate for the price. Two chocolates cost $3.25, which felt pricey but the chocolates are handmade on site and the store is very trendy and fun to walk into. I also do not know all the schematics involved in the process. I would have given 5 stars but the truffle was so small felt it should have been a little larger. I will definitely be back! read more

I was just thinking about this shop today when eating some chocolate and was inspired to write a review. I happened upon Parliament on a visit to Redlands while considering a field trip for my school (ill -fated - thanks covid ). The chocolate I've gotten there each time since has always been excellent. My favorite is the cardamom truffle - I think with coconut - but it's all good. You can see the shop where they make the chocolate from scratch too! I've gotten truffles and bars a few times as gifts for others who've always seemed to enjoy it. I hope I'll be able to visit again soon! I have been here several times and have never gotten anything less than the best chocolate I've ever had. The quality of ingredients is amazing, unlike anything you'll ever try. Their cocoa is phenomenal! There is rarely a wait, friendly staff, and convenient parking out front. It's easy for me to pop in real quick for a treat. Well after walking past and seeing the black lives mural I was happy to find a POC friendly establishment. Or so I thought. I walked in and was not greeted by the white male and white female who were working at the time. I looked around at the small selection and asked if I could sample which I was quickly then followed as if i was a theif. Overall the best way I could describe the vibes inside of the store were racist. Very few options and the store is EXTREMELY tiny. All they had when I went there were dark chocolate options, which isn't my favorite. I tried a couple of truffles. One was lemon and the other was lavender vanilla. They weren't very soft and both were pretty bitter. I wish they had white chocolate and milk chocolate options. Overall, there isn't anything here for me to come back for since they only really have dark chocolate and they aren't amazing. I can get more satisfying chocolate from a grocery store. I guess the pros are that the chocolate is supposedly pretty fresh and the employees are pretty friendly. Anyways not for me and I probably won't be back. read more

I love chocolate, but I also love natural ingredients and buying local. Lucky for me this place allows me to check off all of the above. They process their own cacao which is time consuming, but is probably the reason why their chocolate is so unique. You can walk by anytime of the day and see their machines mixing through the windows. Sometimes if you're really lucky you can even smell the chocolate as you walk by. The process is amazing to see! The chocolate is not just lovingly prepared in small batches, but it's also very good. I'm not a fan of super sweet, so their truffles taste perfect to me. They have the right amount of sweetness coupled with lavender, peanut butter, and other flavors. I am a big fan of their hot cocoa mix and their chocolate nibs. I also enjoy going to Olive Avenue Market to buy their hot chocolate and chocolate milk which uses the Parliament chocolate syrup (which I hope they sell at their store someday too). The truffles are about $1 each and the cocoa mix is $15. It may be a bit more pricey than what you see at the stores, but it's worth the additional expense because of the quality of what you're getting and their ethics (they care to support producers and small co-ops that follow good practices and have good ethics). Parking is street parking only, but it's not hard to find a spot. The building it's in is also very cute and artistic. It's definitely worth a drive from outside of the area if it means getting Parliament and maybe even enjoying the rest of Redlands. read more

This is my second time Coming here with my cousin. He told us all the good things and he wasn't lying lol we always buy a box of 6 or so and share it between three and take bites to try all the flavors. I still haven't been disappointed. I'm usually not a dark chocolate fan but as I've gotten older I've come to appreciate a vey well made dark chocolate. This is not like an ordinary dark chocolate you get at any grocery store. The taste is very distinct and yummy running in all kinds of Flavors from raspberry truffles to orange, Mayan chili and so on. Give it a try they do not disappoint. read more
