What a great little shop! A real old-fashioned looking candy counter and a big stock of "vintage" candies and gum that people of a certain age will remember from childhood. The prices are good too, especially compared to other vintage candy stores you find in touristy areas that charge a premium price for nostalgia. I discovered Laymon's when I was doing a search for candy sticks which have become scarce in regular stores. Laymon's has at least a dozen flavors. I grabbed a bunch of those and two old favorites from my childhood: Chick-O-Stick and root beer flavored Reed's hard candies. The quality of the candies here are excellent and a tradition in our family. The store is full of candies that you can't find anymore but still remember as a child. I travel miles to buy some of the memories from the past. The service is excellent and Dianne is a great help when it comes to getting your items shipped. The ambience is fantastic with all the old wooden candy cabinets that I remembered as a child. This is a place you will want to visit repeatedly when you're in the area. This is a cute old fashioned candy store attached to an industrial building. The good deal here is the boo boo's chocolate deal for $5.50 a pound and it's less expensive if you buy five pounds. You can choose dark or milk for the boo boos. I also bought a pound of left over Easter candy for $3 . I also had to try the Honeycomb which I thought tasted fresh and would buy again here. If you're organizing a party and need color- coordinated candy, chocolate soccer balls, etc for an event, you can find them here. This is a wonderful candy store! They sell by the pound candy and lots of the older candy I had in my childhood. It can get crowded near holidays and there is lots of parking. The store is very clean and the sales people are very helpful. My favorite is the pecan roll and mixed nut brittle. My husband loves the peanut brittle. The store is located in the actual factory where the candy is made, its a little less pricey than Sees candy. Laymons is a must have for those who appreciate quality chocolate over cheap prices. It is some of the best I've ever had from an American company. I have family in Germany and a friend in Luxembourg that send chocolates our way for the holidays, and Laymons is just a step below the premier chocolatiers in Europe. What really sets Laymon's above all the others is their sugar free candies. My elderly father in Florida has a sweet tooth, but he's also diabetic. He states that the sugar free chocolates in Florida and also in New York where my parents spend their summers, has no flavor. So whenever I fly out east to visit my parents I always make sure to stock up on the sugar free candies. Best in the business hands down. The location is very freeway accessible, so it only takes a few minutes to stop in and get the cure for your chocolate cravings. There's always plenty of available parking, even during the busy holiday seasons. The employees are extremely friendly, willing to explain what goes into each of their treats, yet very quick & efficient when there are multiple customers waiting in line. Stay away from those mall candy stores & online shops that serve up those pre-packaged boxes of sweets that have sat on a shelf for who knows how long. Laymon Candy Company is a little hidden gem located in the Inland Empire. They sell fantastic homemade chocolates, different types of fudge, as well as hard candy that is imported from other sources. I often will stop in and purchase boxes of goodies for gifts. I like that they will wrap for you to present to your recipient as a gift. The prices are a fraction of what you will find at other specialty "Candy Stores" such as Oak Glen and various fruit stand/farmer markets. One of my favorite finds here are the bananas-only from the Runts hard candy mix. Also, little jawbreakers are great, maple fudge and their disk chocolate that you melt down or use to dip cake pops. The only con (or negative) I would say is this, and ironically others Yelpers have expressed the same sentiments - the lady who works there at the counter tends to stare a lot and acts strangely. She is a hard read and not the friendliest with customer finesse, etc. We have exchanged small talk and I know she has worked there for quite some time. She will warm up once you've been in there for a bit....if you're lucky. Stop in and check this place out when you're in the area or have a sweet tooth! You'll likely love the selection. :0) read more
