I love the Pineapple hand pies. Pineapple is so hard to find so I have been thrilled that my local store started selling them. Yesterday I bought two pineapple pies during my grocery shopping trip. I ate one of the pies last night - until I felt a sharp crunch. I looked through the pie and didn't find anything but when I continued chewing what was already in my mouth, I felt another crunch and a small cut in my gums. I found a piece of something -- glass or hard plastic in the pie that was in my mouth. I know that I had swallowed some of whatever it was and have not felt well ever since. I have never experienced this when eating one of their pie's but this time has scared me enough that I do not plan to have another as I don't feel safe. read more

On March 4, 2021, a Grocery Outlet supermarket had a grand opening in my neighborhood in Carmichael, California. To my surprise, they had a Redd's Pie section. I was encouraged to learn that the pies were made in Colton, California. I tried the apple pie and was pleasantly surprised at how fresh it was; I even tasted an apple skin. It is admirable that a long-time family owned California company is still successfully producing quality pies at a reasonable price. Thank you Redd's and continued success! read more

July 8 2020. I'm standing in checkout line in Stater Bro's and see this rack of pies. I don't eat these types of snacks ever, and haven't for years. But I'm feeling a little sad because today was my mother's birthday ( RIP MOM) and she enjoyed a single serve pie when she could afford it when we were growing up ( we were very poor to say the least, but we were rich with love). When you're in the mood for a good old-fashioned junk food fix, Mrs Redd's pies fit the bill. They're like Hostess pies were back in the 1960s & 70s, only not so cloyingly sweet and with a crust that that tastes like food, not cardboard. They aren't high-end gourmet and they don't pretend to be, but they are surprisingly tasty. I've liked every flavor I've tried. The vanilla pudding pie came as a pleasant surprise, with a good vanilla flavor. The only downside is that they could be addictive. I'm surprised they can sell something of this quality at such a low price. Shh, don't tell them, but now that I've tried them, I would pay more. read more

I tried Mrs. Freds pies about the Apple and the cherry. Neither one of them had very good apple pie flavor or a cherry pie flavor. And I was very disappointed. I hope they pick up the pace and make the product a little better at some more spices some more flavoring to make the flavors what they should be I am really unhappy. read more

These pies are okay. They used to be made with beef fat or lard, nowadays palm oil does the trick. I saw no actual cherries in the cherry pie, but I just thought of something: they are probably counting cherry juice cocktail base as source of flavor, and qualifies as the cherries ingredient, much like the liquid pork paste counting as pork in the beans can. It leaves you looking for something solid to bite into. They should come out with a "classic country flavor" line which uses the classic beef fat pastry crust, and real solid chunk pie fillings made with cane sugar. Won't be cheap of course, but there IS a market... read more

These are my favorite snack pies! I've tried the apple, cherry and the berry. I had a chocolate pudding one too. Wasn't a fan of the pudding one, but the fruit ones are fantastic! I had a Hostess Snack Pie not long ago, and it was so nasty! Tasted bitter and had a chemical taste. Will never buy Hostess again! If I could leave a Negative 5 Star review, I would. While I don't expect these to be in the same realm as Hostess, I'd at least like the Fruit Pie to have actual FRUIT in it. I mean REALLY people-Berry Pie indicates it will have Berries inside, as does your ingredient list, which lists Blackberries. What I got was Blue Goo for a Berry Pie and Beige Goo for your so-called Apple Pie. Just at most of a cherry pie. The package says "Real fruit filling" but I didn't bite one cherry, just a bunch of tasteless glaze. After eating 3/4 of the pie I opened the rest and not one single cherry, sad. Don't mislabel the package. Even the ingredients say cherries. I couldn't find any. I decided to do another review of these pies. I bought an apple, a cherry and a berry. $ 1.20 for all 3 at FoodsCo. Up from $ 1.00 for 3, which was the price for several years. All tasted good and the taste was true to the type of pie. The apple had bits of apple in the puree. The cherry and the berry did not. I have not sampled the pineapple recently, but I remember it having bits of fruit. The others may have had bits back in the day. While I understand Tammy J O.'s disappointment, these are 40 cent pies. They may have doubled in price in the last 16 years - I think I used to get 5 for a dollar at Stater Brothers in 2001. Even at that - they are excellent, given the price. I heartily recommend all of them. read more

Was looking for email address for Mrs. Redd's pies--was UTL, so I'll go with a review. Frequently buy two pies a week. They are GREAT and you can't beat the price!!! While at Stater Bros. a couple days ago the box boy asked me if I had put the apple pie in the microwave for 30 second then put ice cream on it. That evening I tried it--OUTSTANDING TO SAY THE LEAST. Who says ya can't teach an old dog new tricks? I'll be 80 in July and all the years ( I expect 20 yrs.) I've eaten Mrs. Redd's pie it never occurred to have pie a la mode. read more

I just have to say that its so refreshing to buy something at the store that is reasonably priced and has a great taste...There are so many awful desserts at the store that taste processed and awful, but the mrs redds pies are always so consistent and have great flavor...My kids love them. they work well for their sack lunches..although sometimes I will sneak i take a bite from one of my sons pies before I put it in his lunch bag lol.. pretty much everywhere that sells them they are $0.50/pie..great bargain. for great tasting dessert. read more
