What a DOPE, PIRATE THEMED, speakeasy to go to grab some delicious drinks! Totally blown away!…read more Tucked, downtown Tampa you enter through a secret bookcase door and you enter a very low key pirate bar! Lighting is dim, which is part of the concept. (Auto flash is needed for pics) The joint, is VERY CLEAN! The staff is awesome and very attentive! They understand process. The drinks are SOOO WELL MADE! I had a Zombie as my first drink, and it is very well presented and STRONG! I prefer,my first drink at an establishment to be strong cause then I can lighten it up later. Then I had a Rum Barrel, not as strong, but well presented and delicious! Note: Prices for drinks are worth every dime! They have a small food menu, but everything on the menu looked delicious, but I did not eat there. This speakeasy is attached to a British pub which I went for food after. (Review to come) All-in-all great spot to come and have a drink you are well treated, appreciated and just a fun experience! I will DEFINITELY come back here for a delicious drink and DEFINITELY will try something off the food menu. I'll just make sure next time I won't go there after a big breakfast lol! Five stars alllllll day long!!!

With all that was going on, it's a wonder we could find the exit after all the drinks. The pirate theme was the caveat. A perfectly dimmed atmosphere and willing performers that can conjure up delicious delights. The red light and point on music only enhanced the experience. Plenty of signature drinks, a dozen different beers and even a few dishes are offered. They stir a nice whiskey sour. It's really what suits your fancy. Fear not. They have mocktails, too! 12/25

This was my first time using Toast. Typically I use OpenTable or Yelp but they were not available on there to make a reservation unfortunately. Parking was plentiful between the lot and street parallel parking. All the parking was free! Once seated, we were greeted by our fantastic server, Neli. She was absolutely amazing! Very personable & friendly! I ordered the More Cheese Flatbread and a side of Breakfast Potatoes. The More Cheese is a flatbread topped with garlic sauce, mozzarella, Gouda, white cheddar, parmesan, fried parsley, and crushed red pepper flakes. I asked for mine without red pepper flakes. For the Breakfast Potatoes, I questioned if they had peppers in them. Neli and the kitchen made sure they did not put them in. Both were absolutely delicious! The flatbread was perfectly cheesy, the crust was thin and not hard, and the fried parsley was a great addition! The Breakfast Potatoes were crispy and I loved the flaky sea salt on them! Ended up having enough for leftovers, which was my dinner that night and just as good at home as it was at the restaurant. Would definitely come back and recommend.

Walking in, the space is beautiful. The lighting fixtures really stand out and give the restaurant a stylish, inviting ambiance. The staff was warm, attentive, and provided great service throughout the evening, which made the experience more enjoyable. I did enjoy both appetizers and dinner, but wasn't impressed by the drinks. I did notice wine tasting in the back room. Even though it's a bit of a drive for me, I would come back to check that out. There's plenty of parking, which is always a plus.

First visit... Finally! This place is hidden way back by the sports complex. They have a lot of…read moreadult beverages to choose from including hard liquor. For example they offer three different kinds of vodka with Tito's being one of them. It's on the fourth floor of the hotel with a view of the western sky for sunsets along with the sports fields. We kiddingly said parents could sit up here with alcohol in hand and cheer on their kids way below on the field. Seating: inside they have bar seating with about seven chairs. There is a single TV at the far left of the bar (see pic), so this is not ideal to watch sports on TV. No sound or closed caption. Outside it is just plain hot this time of year until the sun goes down. They have fans but for some reason they weren't on and the temp was 95. There were a couple people sitting outside but they didn't last long. Around sunset I'm sure this is the place to be. There are multiple sofas and areas to sit outside. Also a large Jenga stacking block game is available to play. There are at least two larger TVs outside. The parking lot indicates parking should be paid for. There are numerous signs with giant QR codes to do this. Since we were only there for an hour to grab a single drink we didn't pay for parking. When there are large tournaments going on at the neighboring sports complex I'm sure the hotel does a better job at patrolling who parks at the hotel and maybe then expects parking to be paid for. Drinks: happy hour is from 5p (when they open) to 7p. There is no happy hour menu (this would be a suggestion to make things easier on both the bartender and the customer). We were there at happy hour so took advantage of $8 white sangria and $8 cranberry with house vodka. They also give 10% off to locals. They normally have cards they provide for future use, but the bartender indicated they ran out and were on order. Food: There is a few food choices, including a smash burger and appetizers. They also had a couple cake slices on special. We didn't eat so can't speak to quality or time before ready. Service was average. There was only one bartender at 5:30p on a Wednesday with no sports going on at the complex. We got our drinks fairly quickly. They were tasty but served in small cocktail glasses and not much alcohol. For happy hour discounted pricing this is commonplace. I will be back to try it again, hopefully for a sunset this time!

Before I moved from Northern California back to Tampa Bay in 2022, I came to the Brass Tap at least…read moreonce every time I returned home for Christmas--those were the dark ages before craft breweries had popped up all over the place, and the Brass Tap had a *lot* of beers, good atmosphere, and good service. I didn't go in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic, was happy to get back in 2022...but the place had changed. There were very few beers on tap then, and the whole vibe was off in some hard-to-define way. It seemed dingier, dimmer, sadder. It even had a sort of weird, musty odor. I didn't return until I took a chance last week, right after Christmas--and the good Brass Tap back! The place was lively, well-lit, and while the tap list still isn't the monster from days gone by, it's nothing to sneeze at. (As far as I can tell, they have 30 taps; the Carrollwood location has 60, which is what I dimly remember at this location, too, last decade.) I don't know whether they had a management/ownership change in the interim, but it's a place I want to go back to again now. The Brass Tap doesn't serve food, and the BBQ place right next door that used to be run by the same folks shut down during the pandemic--but they have menus from Grillsmith, one of Wiregrass's other restaurants, there now. Unlike most beer-only bars, they've always had table service, and they've always been attentive. While it's a little too far for me to become a true "regular," it looks like a great place to go to with friends--or, if you're a misanthropic writer like me, to camp out with your laptop and have a couple beers while telling yourself you're working on a soon-to-be-bestselling novel.

It's got that all-around fun, energetic atmosphere that makes it a solid choice for drinks. Not sure how it is during the week, but it would make for a fun date night spot to grab some cocktails. That said, I had a real hang-up the last time I went with my girlfriend around Christmas. They tried to hit us with a $10 cover just to get in, on top of $15-20 cocktails. I don't mind paying for a nice spot, but the cover felt absurd, especially since it wasn't even busy. The bouncer said we could make a reservation to avoid it, so I did...and then he made us stand outside forever before letting us in. At that point, we should've just left, but since my friend had never been, we stuck it out to try the themed Christmas cocktails. Once inside, there was a two-drink minimum per person, which is kind of crazy. It feels like they jip you either way...cover or no cover, minimum spend or not. While waiting outside (for no real reason, since it was empty), we chatted with a party of six who came straight from Ash (the sister restaurant upstairs). They'd just spent over $1,000 on their meal and were still getting charged a cover to enter Alter Ego. That's poor business, don't force extra fees to guarantee money when good music, drinks, and vibes should bring people in naturally and make them want to spend. There's plenty of places on Water Street with great (and I'd say better) cocktails where you're not forced into minimums or covers. The Christmas cocktail menu was disappointing too, poor selections and way too sugary. Love the potential here, but the strict policies really turned me off and made me want to go elsewhere next time.
