Before I moved from Northern California back to Tampa Bay in 2022, I came to the Brass Tap at least once every time I returned home for Christmas--those were the dark ages before craft breweries had popped up all over the place, and the Brass Tap had a *lot* of beers, good atmosphere, and good service. I didn't go in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic, was happy to get back in 2022...but the place had changed. There were very few beers on tap then, and the whole vibe was off in some hard-to-define way. It seemed dingier, dimmer, sadder. It even had a sort of weird, musty odor. I didn't return until I took a chance last week, right after Christmas--and the good Brass Tap back! The place was lively, well-lit, and while the tap list still isn't the monster from days gone by, it's nothing to sneeze at. (As far as I can tell, they have 30 taps; the Carrollwood location has 60, which is what I dimly remember at this location, too, last decade.) I don't know whether they had a management/ownership change in the interim, but it's a place I want to go back to again now. The Brass Tap doesn't serve food, and the BBQ place right next door that used to be run by the same folks shut down during the pandemic--but they have menus from Grillsmith, one of Wiregrass's other restaurants, there now. Unlike most beer-only bars, they've always had table service, and they've always been attentive. While it's a little too far for me to become a true "regular," it looks like a great place to go to with friends--or, if you're a misanthropic writer like me, to camp out with your laptop and have a couple beers while telling yourself you're working on a soon-to-be-bestselling novel. read more

I was once a regular here. and this used to be a great place with a great vibe, but it's really gone downhill in recent years, especially for beer lovers. I was here recently for the first time in a while, and it was sad to see their once amazing beer tap selection whittled down to a fraction of what they once had. The beer selection is what made this place, and they've totally let that go. And of the beers they did have on tap, a big chunk of those were either IPAs or cheap lagers that they charge way to much for. We stopped here for drinks after dinner. Great atmosphere, and wonderful service by our waitress. The menu has many options for beer drinkers and they also had several options for those of us that prefer wine or a cocktail. My only complaint it the stale smell of old cigarettes but I know they can't really help that since you're allowed to smoke outside. read more

Brass tap is a good locals bar. It's close to home, the service is good, bathrooms are clean, there's an ample amount of outside and inside seating, and it attracts generally friendly patrons. We were served by Stephanie, she is bubbly and prompt with her service. We did have the guacamole and chips and the buffalo chicken dip (pretty spicy). I've been coming to this BT for many years. It is one of the few bars in Wesley Chapel with good beer on tap. I'm a big ole beer snob and I normally travel far from home to find a decent craft beer, but when I want to drink close to home BT is my go-to. This location is in Wiregrass Mall and has very impressive specialty taps on a regular basis. Tonight I got to enjoy Hopslam 2016. In the past I've had Dogfish 120, Higher Math, KBS and many others at this location. The staff is wonderful and has always been attentive. They also serve food (appetizers here). I normally get the pretzels with beer cheese which is super tasty and goes well with beer. I've had the spinach dip and buffalo chicken dip before and both were delicious. You can also order food from surrounding restaurants for delivery (Grillsmith, Red Robin amongst others). The bathrooms are my only woe. The toilets in the ladies room are always broken. I totally understand that bar toilets take a beating, but I think they need to invest in commercial toilets instead of economy bowls. Just sayin. read more

So I've been here many times years ago and it was awesome. I came back to find a different atmosphere here. I mean it's a bar and it's location is convenient so it's got that going for it. I can get food delivered from restaurants nearby like I always have. Beer selection was very limited to when I was here before. I could smell a hint of puke near the stage booth area which was off putting. Music was very loud. The place seemed understaffed and the waitress was not friendly. She seemed in a rush. I would say about 70% of the seats were full. What happened to the beer leaderboard near the door? This place just lost the vibe that I previously liked. There was no live music for a Friday night and I wonder how often they do it. It seems they have lost all the unique offerings of beer they used to have. Like the brewery connections are gone. I'll probably visit again later on in The year to see if anything changes. read more

I was here couple of times at the Wire-grass mall. The staff are really friendly and helpful. Almost always very attentive. The majority of them are knowledgeable about the beers and can offer suggestions to help you pick a beer that you will like it. Speaking of the beer, they have a great selection of beers on tap. Many of them are local, but they do a nice job of mixing up different styles. If you go regularly, join the Brew Crew club membership. I believe it's $10 or $15 bucks and you get a t-shirt with it. Then each time you hit a new tier, they give you a new shirt. They also have a leader board up where you can see how you stack up. It's a fun way to encourage you to try different beers and expand your palate. They started offering appetizers a couple years ago. I highly recommend the beer cheese and pretzels. They chop the pretzels up into bite size pieces which you dip into the cheese. Very nice and goes pretty well with your beer. There are several TV's which have sports on, but they usually have music playing over the sound system. Most of the time the volume is low enough that you can have a nice conversation, but on weekend nights it can get pretty loud. They do have karaoke nights and some dart games to play. We enjoyed happy hour (Funky Buddha Floridian for me and cocktails for my friend) and then continued on a little past 7! Lol. I enjoy myself when we stop here. The service, while not perfect, is a lot better than the service at Brass Tap in Ybor City. My husband and I love to drink good craft beer and Brass Tap has a great selection of it. We like to sit at the bar and observe the bartenders. You can learn a lot about drinks by watching. One thing I love about this Brass Tap is that they are generous with their beer samples. The last time we came here we'd just left Zephyrhills Brewing and got spanked by the sample police there and I'm not sure we'll go back. It was ok. I went with my best friend and the atmosphere was cool. The music was kinda loud so it was hard to hear conversations with my own party. The drinks were good, but the frozen drink machine was broken so they couldn't serve the cocktail of the month. The kitchen closed early (11:00pm) even though the online menu said the kitchen closed at midnight so that sucked. The chicken dip was pretty good though. The night menu was also limited so that's a guaranteed set up to buy a bunch of alcohol, which is unfortunately sobering (my party didn't do that). All you get is beer, and none of your everyday beers are on tap - such as: Bud Light, Miller Light, Coors Light, etc... If you're hungry and here before 11pm you can order appetizers off of the GrillSmith menu and they'll bring 'em over to ya. DO NOT forget your wallet as the cheapest beer is about $5. read more

Music was good, not overbearing where you have to shout to have a conversation to the person next to you. THey also have more bottles than you can shake a stick at. They don't offer food but they do seem to have a good relationship with Grill Smith located next door. The server from Grill Smith makes frequent visits to The Brass Tap taking and delivering orders. We came by on invitation to a customer appreciation gathering. The staff was very attentive and the chicken tacos and nachos we had were very good. We really liked the salsa verde.
