I can't do it anymore. Parkfield Dental all about the hard sell. Every visit, they found some new ticking time bomb that insurance wouldn't cover, and would cost me money and TIME. Early on, they pushed me to get a crown that I may not have needed. It seems they ground it down too far, because it kept falling off, and it's fallen off again, for the third time, I know they will "repair" the crown again, but I simply have no confidence in them to fix it properly. After three botched attempts (by three different dentists), their incompetence is clear. I only chose them because they were close by and in my network. Now I'm paying the price. AVOID! I've gone her twice and everytime I leave with a huge bill and being told i have issues with my teeth despite always having a perfect bill of health. Recently I was told I had a cavity, went to my appt to have it filled and was told they were instead fixing a chip in my tooth and that I had no cavity. These people are just trying to wrack up insurance bills and are frauds. They should be reported. Do not go here!!! read more

Been going here for a couple years now. Waited almost an hour in total today. Normally the wait time is long so thats expected. Just for a routine checkup too. I really thought they forgot about me. Came in at 10am and left at 12pm. Was trying to be sold everything possible it seemed, even BOTOX. Every time Im here there's something "wrong" with my teeth. Was bombarded with text reminders for appointment before today. Said multiple times I did not want to purchase toothpaste. They tried to charge me for it on the way out. Recently switched to Parkfeild dental to be closer to home instead of driving 30-45 min to my previous provider across town. Before my official visit with Parkefild dental I helped coordinate transition of records from one dental practice to another to streamline my visit. On January 22nd I had a visit for a routine dental cleaning and had very interesting experience to say the least. I was checked in and greeted my a dental hygienist who took me to the back and immediately took x rays. After the initial x ray they were going to take a 2nd set of X-rays and advised them if they received my x rays from my previous dental practice. At the time the dental hygienist didn't look up my records and was most likely going to bill my insurance an extra x ray (which they did). We jump into the cleaning and the hygienist goes into sales mode and starts talking about invisilign and that I'm a perfect candidate for it. ( I had braces growing up, I've never had this recommendation at my previous provider). Which seemed very odd. We jump into the dentist visit and my treatment plan had a lot of what was previously communicated at my previous provider. Filling repair and a night guard. I was surprised that the recommended "two crowns" as this was never provided and or communicated at my previous provider 6 months prior and it seemed a bit off that this was a recommendation when it was never apart of previous treatment plans. Out of pocket for the the treatment recommendations would be around 3k. We jump through the check out process and I am being nudged to schedule a date for the proposed treatment plan and being pushed on a dental finance plan? Due to my out of pocket being roughly 3k? I politely declined the treatment plan and left. As the day went on I had questions of said treatment plan and asked to speak to the dentist to review the treatment plan in more detail as well as inquire if crowns would be necessary, as this was never a treatment reccomended by my previous provider of over 10 years. I was told I would get a call back but never did. I called the following day and was told i would get a call back but didn't for a second time. After not getting a call back I started reading through yelp/ google reviews and other people had similar reviews/expericnes of the same thing happening them on multiple occasions. Be careful with this clinic as the might push you on a treatment that you might feel uncomfortable with. I'd rate my cleaning 5 out of 5 ; but rate my care/treatment plan experience a 2 or 3 out of 5. read more

This business has changed dentist 3 times with no notice since i been going and recently I took off work for my annual cleaning and checkup. I never saw the hygienist instead they tried to up sell me on all the other dental work completely ignoring my original reason for coming in to get my teeth cleaned. When I asked about that (which I know is covered by my insurance) they said "oh I have to run the numbers again" this is after being there an hour and a half wasted. Honestly, this is the best dentist's office I've ever been to and I have been to many. They are so fast and professional and really respect your time. When they say your appointment is at 12 PM, they mean your appointment is at 12 PM. I always feel secure in what service they provide because they thoroughly explain everything and always show me befores and afters. Nice staff and dentists, but much more concerned with upselling than providing care. Every visit was some new thing--invisalign, braces, special toothpaste. And suddenly they found lots of cavities, many of which were not "found" by our new dentist. Their cost estimates were significantly higher than insurance--leading to hefty out-of-pocket charges. Bottom line: These guys told me I have periodontal disease when I had no such thing. I know this for a fact because I got a second and third opinion from two other dental practices, that have 20+ years of experience. --------------------- I recently moved from Seattle to Austin and was looking for a new dentist and came to Parkfield on 12/7/2022 for a general checkup & periocharting. The dental hygenist Bri, after periocharting told me that I have periodontal disease. HOW? 1. I had braces for the past three years until Aug 2022. I told the hygenist that because of my braces, I used Waterpik 2-3 times EVERY DAY, so I definitely have healthy gums. --- Hygenist just said Waterpik isn't the same thing as flossing. Sure, but that does not make sense since I'm taking extra good care of my teeth. 2. I got mostly 4s and 5s, and one 6. And Bri said 'bleeding' for almost every single poke. --- My most recent charting a year ago had all 323s around the entire mouth, a couple 4s on the lingual of the upper right. How can I all of a sudden have periodontal disease when I'm brushing every day and using Waterpik after I eat? 3. Hygenist also said that bleeding is a sign of periodontal disease and she was seeing a lot of bleeding while checking. --- I went straight home and flossed and didn't bleed at all. 4. I went to Shoal Creek Dental and met the dentist there and did periocharting again with their hygenist. The dentist said my teeth and gums are perfectly healthy and the hygenist said that I'm getting 3s and 4s and said she was very happy with the state of my gums and oral health. 5. I called up my old dentist in Seattle that I've been going for 4 years and getting cleanings twice a year and asked if it's possible that I have periodontal disease. They said no. Anyway, after I saw the hygenist Bri, Dr. Avi Patel came in to check my teeth and said to some in after 3 months to monitor my "periodontal disease". Cleary I don't have it based on two other professional opinions, so either this place is (1) dishonest or (2) incompetent, neither of which are characteristics that you want in your dental care practice. read more

I do wish that they offered an affiliated dentist in the event we have a dental emergency in Parkfield's off hours. Other than that, I am completely satisfied with this dental provider. read more

This place hasn't been the same since Dr.T left and Covid. Everything is about money here, they are just trying to make a profit for lost time during Covid. First off, the technicians are really nice and professional but I can instantly tell that they are train now to find "potential" problems with your teeth. I can't tell you how many people I know that all say the same thing. "Oh, I was told by Dr. Patel that I needed a crown." When in reality all I needed was a filling. Then when a technician cleans your teeth then they ask, "Hey would you like to add on an additional teeth whiting, it's about 5 bucks more, the rest your insurance covers" come to find out it's 65 dollars. Dr. T was for the people and actually helped. Oh and if you try to cancel your appointment through text, it doesn't have that option only to confirm. Looks like something like this: "Patient, to avoid a short notice cancellation fee, please reply C to confirm your upcoming appointment with Parkfield Dental for Fri, Aug 4th at 12:00 PM. Appointments not cancelled within 48 hours or missed appointments may result in a $75 cancellation fee." No option to cancel only C to confirm. Find a place that is not money hungry. read more

The dentist has changed multiple times with no communication of said changes, I preferred Dr. T. I don't like having a new dentist every visit. I've had 3 different dentist since becoming a patient and I prefer to have some kind of continuity of care. At first it was Dr. Patel and then years of Dr. T and then Dr. Patel comes back and now a brand new guy? The newest dentist seems to be more aggressive in his treatment plans, pushing fillings. I've never had a cavity and the dude barely looked. Not only that with new dentist looking to make $$$ hygienists are pushing FLUORIDE treatments. Fluoride is a neurotoxin and as a Hashimotos patient Fluoride causes damage to the thyroid. But they don't care about that, more interested in making money now. I don't trust the staff or the dentist. I came from having the same dentist for 25 years who had a more conservative approach to dentistry and more transparency with their patients read more

My husbnd had a "very" old root canal go bad. He ended up getting a severe infection from it. We went to Parkfield Family Dental for help. Efforts were made to save his tooth, but he ended up getting it extracted in the end. Dr.Avi and his assistant ( the both times we were there) were wonderful. They were both professional & inviting, plus they work together very well. The front office staff were nice as well. I would recommend them highly. read more

I love the fact that the reminders for your appointment are in abundance. For someone busy like myself it really ensures that I will make my appointment and not waste the doctor's time. i had to wait for about 1&1/2 months to get my cleaning and exam in june of 2022. when i arrived i learned that dr. tijierina who previously owned the practice had sold it. he was a good dentist. the new owners, not so good. i endured a very uncomfortable and somewhat painful exam, while the technician pushed the probe as deeply into the "pockets" as far as she could. my gums are relatively healthy, and i have no problem with bleeding, however, she made them bleed. then the dentist entered the room, and told me that i needed deep cleaning. (which normally could have been done (if even necessary) at a later date, after the cleaning.) he then informed me that they couldn't do a regular cleaning that day quote "because that would just make it worse". at that point i got up from the dental chair, removed the bib, and told him to get out of my way. i immediately left. it was clear to me that the only thing they were interested in was their bottom line. they seemed to have no regard for the needs of the patient. i would give them a zero or minus one if i could. i'm looking for a dentist that cares about patients, not just their financial bottom line. read more

I was surprised to be able to get an appointment for the next day when I called, check in was flawless and I got my xrays and cleaning done with no issues. The Dr. came and checked me over and we discussed some future issues but nothing was needing done just yet. Made my 6 month appointment and I'll be back. Being from a military family background, I have seen A LOT of dentists in the last 25 years. Parkfield Family Dental goes above and beyond them all. I have teeth that have only gotten more and more sensitive as I have gotten older and not only did Dr. Tijerina listen to those concerns, he and his entire staff addressed those concerns by taking extra care during my exams, talking to me about using one cleaning method or another - whichever I was more comfortable with, and talking to me about ways I might be able to find some relief. This is on top of the office itself being impeccably clean; the staff being friendly, knowledgable, and accomodating; and them really sticking to their schedule and not wasting my time with waiting around. I was so nervous bringing my little guy to the dentist for the first time. I couldn't believe how accommodating Dr.T and his team were to make us feel at home. They took the time to speak with me about my concerns and went above and beyond to make sure that my son was comfortable. The bedside manner of both the dentist and the staff were out of this world good. The tech took the time to explain to my son every tool before she began working and was extremely gentle with him. My initial appointment on March 28 for a cleaning was almost perfect. Dr. T did the cleaning, very gentle. I was also fitted for a night guard because I grind my teeth. I picked up the guard today. I made an appointment for a check-up and cleaning before moving out of the country. I thought it would be just one more annoying task to get out of the way. Not to mention that I hadn't been to the dentist in over a year-and-a-half and was dreading the experience! Little did I know that it would be such a pleasant visit. Alisha is the absolute sweetest, most sensitive, and informative dental hygienist one could ever hope for. She not only has an obvious passion for her work, but she loves caring for and getting to know what is important to her patients. She took time to answer my many questions about x-rays, deciduous teeth, etc., and she patiently listened to and empathized with stories about my past dental office woes. She gave me some specific advise on how to care for my particular set of teeth. She was gentle and thorough during the cleaning and provided helpful feedback throughout. Dr. T. is the most down-to-earth and reassuring dentist I've ever had. He took time to connect and get to know me. I felt as comfortable as I would have had I been at a family gathering, all while receiving quality dental care. There is only one thing I regret, and it is that I will be leaving the country and therefore unable to establish myself as a dedicated patient. If I do move back to Austin one of these days, at least I'll know where to find my dentist! I have no doubt that Dr. T.'s practice will continue to grow and flourish with time. Yes! I am so glad that I found Parkfield! My appointment was with Dr. Patel and he is amazing. He went over my X-rays and concerns in detail and answered all of my questions. I haven't been to the dentist in a long time and I needed a more thorough cleaning than normal. Dr. Patel took his time and didn't make me feel like my cleaning needed to be rushed (for which I am extremely appreciative). I feel like I have a whole new set of teeth! As a new resident to Austin I found the task of finding a new dentist a bit intimidating since the one I went to in my previous city had been my dentist for 15 years. After getting a suggestions from some neighbors about Parkfield Dental I decided to give them a try. I found it very convenient that they offer appointments after 5pm, no more taking time off work to take care of my teeth. The check in process was very easy and quick, I got all my paperwork done, x-rays and was in a dental chair within 10 minutes of arriving. Dr. Patel and Heather was great walked me through everything that was going to take place and made me feel very comfortable. They have all of the latest dental technology which makes cleanings a painless and quick procedure. Awesome experience! I was nervous about seeing a new dentist but Dr. Tijerina was great! My husband saw Dr. Patel and he was great as well, both dentists are very knowledgeable and personable!!! We both needed some work done and they were able to start it at the same Appt. and that's a great help since it's hard to take time off work, they also open late Tuesday which is awesome!!! Dr. Tijerina is hands down the best dentist I've ever had. I put off going to the dentist for about five years *gross* due to extreme anxiety. From the moment I walked in, I was put at ease by the adorable office manager who also worked as a dental assistant. They explained everything in great detail, starting with the x-rays and had me laughing and comfortable by the time I was in the chair. Dr. T is so personable, funny, and genuinely cares about his patients and their specific needs. It was super quick and seriously painless, these ladies and gents are truly artists! I couldn't say enough great things about this practice - I am so lucky to have found them and now I can enjoy my clean set of chompers. I went in for a visit, simply asking for my teeth to be cleaned and for a filling to be filled. I asked repeatedly if I would owe any money. Two weeks later I get a bill for over $2300, $455 of which I am being asked to pay. At no time did anyone advise me that I would owe anything and I was reassured that my insurance would cover everything. At best these people were incompetent but I really think they did not intend on telling me anything, at least not until I got the bill. I was fleeced I believe because I had a good dental plan. I will be contesting this bill. Make sure you get ALL costs beforehand. read more

AMAZING!! For years I have despised going to the dentist as I have TMJ and it's typically a very traumatic & painful experience. I went to Parkfield Family Dental and could not believe how great it was! Fantastic customer service, professional and courteous staff, and very informative. The Dentist spent quality time getting to know me as well as why I choose his practice. They had top of the line equipment and I could not believe how fast and efficient they were! Where I would usually leave the dentist with a migraine I left without even a headache or any discomfort! I will be going here as long as I'm in Austin!
