Well I can see from my 2013 review that I've been using Pete Parker's Tree Service for over twelve years, and I just want to say that I still wouldn't trust my trees or our now 35' tall palms to anyone else. There are many reasons I say this; but the reason I'm writing now is to add how remarkably impressed I am with how experienced, knowledgeable, honest and honorable he is in his assessment of what needs to be done. He truly cares about the health of the trees he works on, and if he thinks a tree needs LESS work (or to be left as is) for the health of the tree, he will say so even though it means a smaller job or no job at all. He is a true tree lover and arborist which I appreciate as he gives great recommendations about how to get all of our different trees looking the best. He is also very honest and won't do more work than you need. You would think an arborist would be more expensive but given that he's licensed and bonded his prices compare to the average tree trimmer who is also a gardener without a license. Pete and the 3 other men on the team led by Carlos came out to our home in Del Sur at 8am right on time! Pete & I walked Carlos and the team around our property as we had about 15 trees requiring lacing and trimming, an Orchid tree that needed shaping, 2 trees cut down, and 2 palm tree stumps grinned out. Each member of the team are extremely conscientious and take great awareness of other plants so they don't get damaged. They cleaned our property during the work and st the conclusion on the job again cleaned up thoroughly. Fun to watch the work as each of are like artists carefully removing select branches to trim and shape each tree. We will definitely have Pete and his team back to our home in Avaron. My wife contacted Peter several times to try and get him to come out and do the job he had scheduled but he did not keep her posted of electrical issues with his truck and never called or texted her to say he would be late or could not make the appointment. He did say he was having trouble with his truck so why can't he call and let the client know he will be late or has to cancel the appointment? My wife had to always call or text him. Very inconsiderate we do not have the time to babysit Peter and try and get him to do his job. Not a good way to treat your customers when you run a Business. Good luck if you use them! Cannot review work as it was never provided. Called 2 weeks ago and asked for an estimate to trim my tree. As of this writing, no estimate done. Either: a) the business is going so well Parker Tree doesn't need new business or b) they are so disorganized they cannot even provide an estimate quote. Sorry, have to down vote this guy. Left two messages (with the live answering service) and no call back. May be a great guy - but if you can't even get him on the phone... EDIT: I actually got an email from a yelper saying don't rate 1 star if he won't respond - he could be sick, or on vacation, or busy... Allow me to address those concerns: 1) The original 4.5 star rating that caused me to call this service twice several days apart is misleading if the business does not return calls. High ratings should be reserved for businesses that provide a positive experience for the willing and reasonable consumer. I ended up wasting my time. 2) If the proprietor is sick, on vacation, etc he has a live answering service that could have been given a new script. Just like us working schmoes who need to call the boss when we're ill or out on vacation, the owner needs to update the answering service. 3) If I am totally off base, and this review is the exception, then I expect my review to soon be drowned out by yelpers joyously rating him 5 stars, 6 if they could, because they had a job well done. I really feel that a non-response (after a couple tries - just in case they missed the first call) is enough to rate a business. read more

I have seen Parker Tree Service around the neighborhood (Scripps Ranch) and so I thought I would give their company a try. Honestly, we started out a little rough but it panned out...and now I would recommend them with a few precautions. Pros: 1. Peter (yes, Peter Parker...my husband pointed out that to me all you comic fans) is very nice and he is a serious arborist so he doesn't go crazy cutting the trees, he takes what needs to be taken off without removing too much. 2. His crew is efficient and they clean up their mess after they have completed the job. 3. Overall, the trees we removed properly and those trees we had lace and/or trimmed look fantastic. 4. Parker Tree Service has an "A+" on the BBB website. Cons: 1. When I originally called to have him come by and do a quote, he forgot and I had to call again to request that he come to our house. 2. Parker Tree Service has an answering service that takes calls for the company and passes on messages to Peter. I wish it was easier to access him! A couple days prior to our appointment I left a message and he never returned the phone call. 3. The day of our appointment we find out that Peter had our appointment for a different week. He was able scramble and remove two trees and have to trees trimmed by the end of the day. He also did apologize and admitted he made a mistake and says that this happens maybe twice a year. *All-in-all I would use him again now that we have his cell phone number :) read more

Parker Tree did the service on two large trees on our property. Five stars because when we weren't happy (not enough trimming), Peter sent his crew right back out the next day to make it right. Scheduling was a little tricky - the whole answering service is a little annoying only because sometimes you have to wait a day or two for a call back. And then when we decided to do the job, it had to be scheduled two weeks out. But hey, I guess that's a sign of a popular business. All in all, the final work was great and the price was competitive. Would NEVER recommend Parker Tree Service. If would can't do the work, understaffed, etc. Fine. Just let your customers know!!! Don't ghost the customer! Parker Tree Service doesn't know that? I received a coupon for Parker and needed quick tree service. I gave them a call and they were immediately able to help me the next day. They came out and removed a huge tree from my yard. It was a coral tree with 4 large trunk sections. The base of the tree was at least 15 feet in diameter. I left in the morning and when I returned, there was just a stump - which I had not paid to have removed. The yard was cleaned up. No bits or pieces were left behind. The price was reasonable. Their service was great. It was nice to deal with a professional in an industry not known for always being professional. read more

Parker Tree Service is a one man show. It looks like he has a hard time just managing follow up depending upon how busy he is. He came over to give me an estimate very quickly, but didn't follow up with doing the work. He didn't call to say he wasn't coming in on the agreed to dates, nor did he return my calls. He just didn't show up. I think the reason he either gets really good or really bad reviews is that he is fundamentally unreliable. Sometimes he'll come through and sometimes he won't. I called Parker tree service to remove some trees at our house. He came out and gave me an estimate and was very polite. I called him a week later to schedule a time to do the work and I never got a return phone call. I was in no hurry so I gave him another call two weeks later, then a text message, then emails and more phone calls. Just for kicks I went back to check just how many times I attempted to reach Mr. Parker. The total came to six phone calls, two text messages, and four emails. All of them ignored. Honestly, I've never come across anything like this because he came highly recommended. Reading other reviews however I see that he has a pattern of not getting back to people so for that reason I could never recommend his services. read more

A neighbor's 30' tall dead pine tree fell on my property recently. It's essentially a dry rotted Christmas tree and it's a huge fire hazard. The neighbors insist on using Parker tree. He allegedly came to inspect the tree and determined that it was not a hazard. This despite the fact that the neighbors have an exposed hot water heater within feet of the dead tree. So Parker decides to schedule the removal 18 days after the tree fell! When we called him, he never returned our first call, finally called back after we complained about customer service. Basically told us to pound sand and that he was too busy to put a rush on things. Said that all tree trimmers were busy after storm and appts running 3-4 weeks. I found three guys who could do it same day but a-hole neighbors refuse to do it. They say it's Parker or nothing. They have about five other dead trees about to fall over so I don't think he's been out there much or often. I would not trust or recommend this guy to anyone and am skeptical to even let him on my property after his determination that my family is not in danger. Temps have been in the 90's this past week and Fire Marshall has been called to inspect. This guy is a tool! read more

I felt this company is very unprofessional based on the fact below. And you can see this is my very first review on Yelp... So how upset I am (and how tolerable I am as a customer) you be the judge. I had Mr. Parker stopped by to give an estimation on some tree trimming earlier this year. and I started to call his office to schedule a time to do the work. How many times I called? Maybe more than 5 times! I bet the operator lady would get tired of me already! He never give me a call back. Not even once! If he felt my job is too small for his busy money-making schedule, fine. Just let me know. Everybody has the right not to serve someone. But every time I called, the answer was the same: he will call you back. Do not waste my time! I just completely redid my front yard with artificial turf, vinyl fencing, flagstone walkway, and new brick planter boxes with stone bricks on top. I now needed to remove the Magnolia tree from this planter box to keep the roots from breaking down the planter box. The guys showed up on time, protected my vinyl fences and planter boxes. They took the tree down and removed the stump by grinding it out. I was completely satisfied. His price was average but he was very caring of my artificial turf, fences, sprinklers, lighting etc. I had peace of mind while these workers worked very diligently. We scheduled the project and his team arrived on time, were professional and courteous and did a great job from start to finish and clean up. We had Parker Tree Service remove three trees from our front yard as part of a landscaping project that we are about to begin. Pete Parker had given us a VERY good quote as compared to anyone else, partly because his crew would be working at our next door neighbor's house on the same day. The crew (6 guys) arrived right on time and began without delay. Carlos was the crew chief. All of the guys were exceptionally professional and nice to have around. Trees started coming down quickly and run through the chipper; the larger pieces of trunk were picked up and put in the truck. They ground all stumps down 6-8" below the surface and completely cleaned up each area. The crew was quite careful and managed to avoid some sprinkler lines near the stumps. We would recommend them to anyone needing any sort of tree trimming or removal. Fantastic experience and great price! read more
