I repeat, the water is COLD. I'm a competitive swimmer and enjoy training in cooler water (70-72F) but this is kind of ridiculous. I would say it's not more than 63F-ish. Alexandra Park pool is 50 yards long. Weird and a bit rare to see that in North America anymore. All City of Toronto outdoor pools are all free for everyone to enjoy. The showers in the men's changerooms kind of suck, the shower heads should be replaced, they kind of spit out water everywhere else than on your body. Other than that, the changerooms are clean and spacious. Not sure about the earlier poster's comments about people being young and beautiful. The patronage reflects the diversity of Toronto much like everywhere else in the city. I didn't notice any pervs or skeevs, just local residents enjoying a free city pool. I'm a swimmer and come for adult lap swimming at night, and just might have been the grape smuggler to which she makes reference. It's much easier to swim 4000 yds in a speedo as opposed to board shorts.

hi guys- newly retired HPODP staff here. some of the reviews do not do this pool justice, so I…read morefigured I'd share some staff-known things. - the pool is cold because it is old and does not have a heater - all the staff are friendly when approached, but please keep in mind that especially on hot and busy days we are all focused on those swimming, and making sure no one is in need of help -- if people have an RBF that doesn't mean we hate working or we are rude! - the website is not the pool staff's responsibility, trust me in the past we have constantly been trying to get the city to fix the websites - any closures are for health and safety related reasons, not because we don't want to work - believe it or not we actually love having the slide open, when we close it its usually due to understaffing/heat-related things/our protocols - the city has rules for the staff as well, especially in heat waves Believe me, we WANT to be there it was a great summer job for me and if I wasn't in an internship I would return!

They run the pool in 45 minute cycles. 45 minute swims and then 45 minute cleans. Minimal changing rooms and bathrooms available (though there are still some) and no water slide. The pool capacity has been lowered to 100 so it's very easy to stay away from people. My four-and-a-half year old can't wait to return!

There are a ton of lifeguards and you can get really good exercise in the 45 minutes you are allowed to swim in the pool. Unfortunately, there are no lounge chairs but if you just want to swim, this is definitely the place for you. If you want to get in, make sure you arrive 30 minutes before swim time.

Whilst there is no onsite parking, there is a parking lot just a 5 minute walk away which is fairly cheap and definitely worth it for a trip here. There's a huge park outside and area to walk around in where the centre is, as well as plenty of eateries if you get hungry after a swim sesh! The swimming pool is fantastic. There's a diving board, slide, swing rope and a hot tub as well as plenty of floaties and balls to play with. It's super fun with family or friends and even though it can get a little crowded, it's really well managed and has loads of space. The slide only runs at certain times so do watch out for that one! The changing rooms are also really nice and clean with plenty of lockers and private spaces. They are mixed. Overall a really great place for a fun day out!

The facilities are kept pretty neat and clean, so there isn't very much negative to say about this community centre. I do wish that there was more natural light, but it is only a minor quibble. Overall this is a pretty great community Centre with a lot of the facilities needed to keep everyone active and is a joy to visit.

This pool has a baby area, a winding shallow end, a deep end with a diving board and another shallow end that acts as the outpost for the best free water slide in all of the land. A tall, yellow winding water slide that can make a grown woman squeal with childish delight. Beyond all of this, the deck is huge with equal parts shade and sun and a lovely mixture of families and adults. It's far less busy than the pool at Bathurst and Dundas. We were having fun here for the New Year Eve First Night event. There were different activities,…read morelike skating, swimming, some vendors and popcorns. Also, there were some outdoor performances. The weather was ok, just too cold I felt. There were lot of volunteers to help out. It was a long lineup for the free popcorn, my kid enjoyed the Lego station so much. The swimming pool has a big dolphin, which also attracted my daughter too. Then the Aquaquest classes that were each kid's rite of passage. At one point it became cool to bike here, hang out, and hit up the awesome yellow big kids' slide. Then you stopped coming as a teenager 'cause Wonderland and the beach were cooler. And then one day I came back for the Lane Swim to cure my saaaadd, academia-induced neck pain. I had become an adult. Not much has changed over the years. The giant "Richmond Hill" flag still hangs at the front of the pool. The ceiling here was likely exceptionally high and sunny for '90s standards, and is still impressive today. I *think* the "big kids' slide" is still the same one from childhood and it hasn't aged a day in 20 years. Change rooms are large and clean and let you avoid people. The staff are nice, it doesn't cost a fortune to come here, and their public lane swim hours are good (approx. 11am-1pm and 9-10pm on weekdays, 11-12:30 on weekends). The pool at 25m is standard for a community centre with a generous deep end, the warm pool is equally fun and spacious. My only complaint would be the narrowness of the small lane, and that the hairdryers in the women's washrooms are way too high for the 99% Asian demographic. Guess the town of R-Hill hadn't anticipated this turnout, lawls. 5 stars because this pool was already neat during its day and has kept up beautifully over the years. I've visited other R-Hill pools like the Centennial, where staff are rude a.f., or the Wave Pool, which is fun if you're under 12 and intolerable if you're over. I'll hit up a few more pools before finalizing the verdict, but for now Bayview Hill remains a first-rate spot to get your exercise in.

And most other times the pool is completely empty not even being used so they disallow you for using it for absolutely no reason. And when I came in to ask for a day pass to use the pool, they still charge me a full price of the day pass even though they knew they weren't going to allow me to use the pool and then they made me wait 15 minutes for a refund and said I'll get it in five days. Terrible service on top of the terrible scheduling and nasty change room.

I'd never entered the building but my wife has her gym membership here and takes Yoga classes on the weekend and she seems satisfied with the facility. Speaking of, it's an ok spot, definitely dated and looks like it hasn't seen an upgrade since the 80s or 90s, but it checks the box as a City run community centre with pool and health club. The city actually gives this facility a grade of A on their pool (I'd go with that) and a C on their fitness facilities (agree as well based on my wife's feedback) They offer a variety of classes both in fitness and in pool. It doesn't need to be fancy, but it's not the best and it's not the worst, I think a 3 star is fair for good ole GUS!
