We were having fun here for the New Year Eve First Night event. There were different activities,…read morelike skating, swimming, some vendors and popcorns. Also, there were some outdoor performances. The weather was ok, just too cold I felt. There were lot of volunteers to help out. It was a long lineup for the free popcorn, my kid enjoyed the Lego station so much. The swimming pool has a big dolphin, which also attracted my daughter too. We would like to come for the community activities in the future.

I think I'm going to tear up writing this. Going here is a walk down memory lane. I've been here…read moresince I was a tot. First learned how to float from my dad during "Leisure Swim." Then the Aquaquest classes that were each kid's rite of passage. At one point it became cool to bike here, hang out, and hit up the awesome yellow big kids' slide. Then you stopped coming as a teenager 'cause Wonderland and the beach were cooler. And then one day I came back for the Lane Swim to cure my saaaadd, academia-induced neck pain. I had become an adult. Not much has changed over the years. The giant "Richmond Hill" flag still hangs at the front of the pool. The ceiling here was likely exceptionally high and sunny for '90s standards, and is still impressive today. I *think* the "big kids' slide" is still the same one from childhood and it hasn't aged a day in 20 years. Change rooms are large and clean and let you avoid people. The staff are nice, it doesn't cost a fortune to come here, and their public lane swim hours are good (approx. 11am-1pm and 9-10pm on weekdays, 11-12:30 on weekends). The pool at 25m is standard for a community centre with a generous deep end, the warm pool is equally fun and spacious. My only complaint would be the narrowness of the small lane, and that the hairdryers in the women's washrooms are way too high for the 99% Asian demographic. Guess the town of R-Hill hadn't anticipated this turnout, lawls. 5 stars because this pool was already neat during its day and has kept up beautifully over the years. I've visited other R-Hill pools like the Centennial, where staff are rude a.f., or the Wave Pool, which is fun if you're under 12 and intolerable if you're over. I'll hit up a few more pools before finalizing the verdict, but for now Bayview Hill remains a first-rate spot to get your exercise in.

This place is incredibly close to my house. Over the last couple years however, we had a family…read morepass to the YMCA just a few blocks over. Since we could put my son in swimming lessons there for no extra cost, we just went there. However, my son has a bit of apprehension in the water. He gained some skills in their lessons, but he was stagnating over time. We've known a few people who enrolled their children at Making Waves, and one thing I knew right off the bat that would make them ideal is the max of 3-1 child to teacher ratio. I can't emphasize enough how important that is, as I watched my son at his previous lessons have to wait several minutes at a time for his turn when there were about 5 in his class. From what I've seen, the instruction is also at a high level. One example is previously my son was learning to float by having the teacher hold him under his shoulders and pull them along the water. Here, the teacher actually helps support him more under his lower body. It makes sense, as the upper body is where the body floats, with the lower body being prone to sink being only muscle and bone. This technique seems to give the student a better sense of learning how and then trusting their body to float. They also do a great job of helping push students just outside of their comfort zone. Enough to encourage learning, but not enough to scare them too much. For example, for some of the lessons you'll see the teachers count loudly to 5 as the student is doing their best to stay afloat when swimming, which seems seems a reasonable amount of time for them to push through, without worrying about being under too long. Terrific facility as well, with a huge viewing area to watch the lessons, a play area for kids who may be waiting, and a nice change area. A terrific thing about this place is that they use salt water as a natural cleanser/disinfectant for the pool rather than chlorine. It improves the smell, but I'm sure it's better for skin too. It is naturally more costly to attend here than most other places. I can't fault them for that given the details above; but I wish they'd offer the 10% discount for the second child rather than only if you have 3 attending. Many don't have 3 kids to begin with, and I think a 10% is still a fair deal if family have 2 children attending given the cost. It is what it is, but ultimately, everything is at a high standard. One month of lessons in, my son has progressed at a rate that may have taken 6 elsewhere.

This is a place where your child can, depending upon the instructor, receive decent swim lessons…read more As someone who has been a client for 7 years, however, I can tell you that they remain ABYSMAL administratively. Why? 1) They NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER EVER answer the phone!!!! Why even have a phone number? Good luck with getting answers or customer service is you have questions about your account. 2) Getting a receipt for (EXPENSIVE) private lessons is a extremely PAINFUL EXPERIENCE!! Why? Because, even after witnessing the inconvenience that parents experience, nothing has been done to improve upon this major shortfall. They clearly don't really give a CRAP about parents of, or clients who are, special needs.

This place has swimming pool on 1 side with slide . It is a smaller pool compare to standard pool size. It is always busy. The good part is it has jacuzzi and sauna and not all city community Center has this facility. It also has indoor skating rink. Outdoor also has a rink for skateboard. There is parking . Although it cannot be compare to be as nice as the newly built community Center, it has quite unique facilities. With city has new program for gym membership , the membership is apply to most of the community Center include this one. I pay around $90 for 3 months. Good deal

I'm a swimmer, so I can't say much about the rest of the building but I will focus on the pool…read more The pool is a standard 25 meter pool, with a slide, a wheel chair ramp and a smaller shallow section. I go mainly for lap swims, and have found it often very busy. The fast lane is one single lane, medium a double and the slow lane another single lane (4 total). The fast lane tends to get busy quick, and not always the most generous or co-operative people swimming. I find that the morning swims are a bit less congested, and by the evening swims (especially in summer) the pool is quite cloudy and very busy. Not much else in the area for lap-swimming unless you want to get a membership at the YMCA (at bayview and sheppard). So I'd recommend it solely on that basis. If the location makes sense, I'd recommend checking out the 50m Douglas Snow Aquatic Centre at Sheppard and Yonge. It's in a fairly good location - mainly if you can drive. Getting there by bus is difficult (I'd recommend McNicoll bus over Leslie for frequency) Hope this helps!

Downstairs is the recreation clubhouse where members can swim, play tennis, and do other leisure activities. There were 4 major rooms in the venue: Bridal changing room - a huge room for the bride and bridesmaids to get ready and keep all the belongings here for safety. Ceremony room - super high ceiling, perfect for the wedding ceremony. The venue uses beautiful champagne chiavari chairs. It has an upstairs balcony in the front for great aerial shots, a mini stage, and a small table on the side for signing official documents. Functional room - after the ceremony, we were led to another room for cocktail hour x open bar! The venue staff were serving us delicious h'orderves! I believe my friend picked the most popular 6 items on the list of appetizers and one of them was a Montreal smoked meat station!! #heaven #sogood Main Reception/Banquet Hall - Gorgeous room with lots of windows for natural light :) Fits perfectly if you have 200 guests or so. Although there are pillars but no obstructed view of the centre stage :) The view from the large L shape balcony was very beautiful. We had Chinese styled 10 course meal prepared by Chef from the venue. Not bad :) Two bars opened during the night; all you can drink! The bartender we had on our side was fantastic - he was fast, personable and very funny ;) Another friend of mine actually booked this wedding venue for next year... I guess that really says a lot :) Will be back again next Fall 2018! P.S. The only con was one of my friend's car had a hit and run at the venue's parking lot. The bridal suite was lovely and enough space for me and the girls to get ready. I highly recommend Lino and the team.
