There are a ton of lifeguards and you can get really good exercise in the 45 minutes you are allowed to swim in the pool. Unfortunately, there are no lounge chairs but if you just want to swim, this is definitely the place for you. If you want to get in, make sure you arrive 30 minutes before swim time.

They allowed me to goof off in the recreational skating area with a friend in a wheelchair when it wasn't crowded. They have skates for rent and hot chocolate for sale. In terms of swimming, showers are old but work. There is an accessible shower corner with railings, seat and shower hose. Change rooms have ample bench space and you have the choice between coin operated lockers or just leaving your stuff in the cubbyholes. The lanes are WIDE and the pace is much slower than usual. Last time I went, their fast lane was a little crowded and almost everyone was going at a medium pace. The medium lane was extremely slow but I was able to get away with drills and sprints with only two other swimmers in there.

This gym has an extremely pretentious attitude and I would steer away.

Since my last critique of this place I didn't think the city could do anything to make me anymore…read morecritical, for starters this summer if I choose this facility to swim due to the city's decision to have universal change rooms I will have to bare all in front of little girls, however without seeing the irony or perhaps in spite of it, the city decided it was necessary to have a women's only shinny(hockey) which runs regardless of how many women(cis only, sorry T-girls, you aren't welcome)show up, while at the same time having universal change rooms during the summer. Aside from this the recreation staff are phenomenal and great sports when it comes to dealing with the all the blow back from patrons who are negatively effected by this. As for pleasure skating which I have to do during the ladies time, it can be quite enjoyable up until the rink staff leave for the night and both pads become a free for all hockey game, if you are a new skater or like my self you aren't the next Wayne Gretzky, or Elvis Stojko, I recommend avoiding the rink after supervised hours, on the flip side if you want a no rules environment after they leave is the best time to go.
