He seated us right away in the restaurant, as I mentioned how hungry I was. I wanted a true Bavarian experience & this did not disappoint! A true farm to table as you read in the menu about where their meat comes from (down the road) and how it was raised (open air free range). We started with a seasonal salad, so light & refreshing then we ordered the #10 sirloin steak with fried onions and potatoes in the most mouth watering brown gravy! We splurged & tried a local flare of "schnapps" called Williams (a hint of pear) and quickly learned why the Germans can be sometimes considered a harsh people! Deciding to stick with wine, I ordered the Montepulciano from Italy and quickly realized that wine drinking in the Styes will never be the same again. Absolutely amazing and completely different from anything I've tasted before! After deciding on the apple dumpling dessert, my husband and pray the rest of the food on our trip is this great! Actually apples, breaded and rolled in cinnamon and sugar and served with the most vibrant vanilla ice cream, I can't wait to see what's in store for breakfast. So if you're ever outside of Munich and need a drink or a bite or a warm bed and a clean room- don't miss this place!

A wonderful, fun place, very busy with locals and tourists! Service was top-notch! Decor and vibes were full Bavaria! Returning from a day trip out to Hop Fields and German Hop Museum we took a different street exit and popped out directly inside this Wirtshaus biergarten. Wunderbar! The food is a full step above what is served over at Hofbrauhaus. I ordered the classic Sauerbraten and the wife had Paprikaschnitzel, which was by far the best Spicy Paprika Schnitzel we ever had. Very different style, bright red sauce, lots of of fresh red peppers and just the right amount of heat. A work of art! Ask for the Schnitzel to be breaded and fried extra crispy ... you can thank me later. The classic mixed desert plate was also on point. We stopped in a few days later and sat inside at the bar, watched the bartender tap a special wooden keg. He didn't even ask, simply poured us 2 Helles and brought them over. I guess we are now ehrenamtliche Stammgäste. Nice!

I am a huge fan of Austrian food and wine and knew about this place a few years ago and, been…read moremeaning to try it since. As the online booking here is relatively full we decided to book weeks ahead and as it turned out, at least 3 tables were empty in a restaurant that seats about 30 people. I don't know if this is a deliberate strategy or, they had a few cancellations. I also confirmed after our visit last night that being in the top 2 restaurants in Munich on TripAdvisor also means nothing as, the food here was not worth it. For the money I can and have eaten in far better places in town. The menu here is 5 or 6 courses and the selection is very limited unless you organise it ahead of time. There was only 6 courses listed and that was it. The wine list is extensive and has mostly Austrian wine and some small selection of wines from Germany and Südtirol. But disappointing that the first two wines we selected were both out and the replacement recommendation was corked and had to open another one. I enjoyed the wines here. The table service is friendly and warm and there are a lot of staff to service the small restaurant. It was a ratio of 5 customers to one staff member. The food arrived and I must admit I was relatively unimpressed. The courses were small, the flavour on many of the dishes was ordinary and outside of the Spargel and Loup de mer I did not enjoy the other dishes as much. Those two dishes were great. The dessert was quite disappointing. Be prepared to spend a lot of money here compared to many restaurants in Munich and on average, the prices here are 2-3 times more than some of the decent places in town. For multi course menus they are also at the premium end of non starred restaurants. The ambience is very nice and simple and staff are friendly. I would not come back here again as, the value for money is lacking. If I compare it to other gourmet restaurants I have been to, this place has a long way to go. I would come back here for some decent Austrian wine but that's about it. Luckily they also have a wine shop attached to the restaurant.

We were staying at the Charles Hotel close by and saw that this beer hall had some solid reviews and was a short walk away. Germany is not famous for it's manners so we weren't surprised when the man behind the counter was not very polite when we entered and waited to be sat, but our waiter was very polite and made up for it. It's very large on the inside, quite noisy, and was filled with very large groups. We were a couple and did not feel out of place, rather it was fun to people watch. The pricing is very fair and the portion sizes are large. They have a giant drink menu as well but I chose the lager our waiter recommended and loved it, so much so that I got two. For my dinner, I chose the sausage combo plate, which was a mix of four different sausages and honestly, each of them was great. I especially like the spicy one, but, I ate all four of them pretty quickly. This place is very casual, but also very lively and a fun place to stop in when in Munich. I would recommend to any traveler, as well as to any local.
