Tante Emma is one of the growing lineup of hipsterish joints to open up in Munich. It's a cross…read morebetween a hipster cafe and a slightly colonial / country setting. The ambience here is quite nice and there is outdoor seating for warm days. The only drawback to the outdoor seating is that it's on a noisy main road. I have walked past this place a few times and we finally decided to give it a try. For what is a somewhat cool place I was totally disappointed at the push button coffee machines. The coffee was quite ordinary and lukewarm. I must admit I did not like the coffee here at all. We are so spoiled for choice for good coffee in the area. The menu is small but enough choices for lunch and breakfast. There is a daily specials board as well. I tried the chorizo omelette and it was ok. Without the chorizo this would have been a bland omelette. I also tried the Bircher muesli and I am afraid it was the worst Bircher muesli I have had since moving to Europe. It was tasteless and had soft overripe pear which tasted pretty ordinary. To be fair i would not rate the food more then 2.5 stars. The coffee would be a 1 star for me. Overall I would not rate it more than 2.5 but would be ok with a 3. In a suburb with so many great places for coffee and breakfast, I would have to be desperate to come back here again. As I always say no matter what the ambience is like, I come here to eat ;-) if the food is average no matter what else is great, it barely makes up for it.

Of course- when the weather is nice- like we had today, everyone wants to be outside. It's beautiful!! We started with the Obatzda- which I've had before & Love- it's so tasty!!, 'lecker', as Germans would say. It's a cheese spread, of sorts, served with onions, carrots, and pretzel. Our server was great... she spoke English, so we had no problem communicating. We all had Schnitzel for lunch & it did not disappoint!! It was very delicious- I definitely cannot wait to come back and have the same thing!! We could have walked from our hotel, but didn't realize until afterwards when we walked out to Maximilian Street and saw where we were. But, that's ok- it's in a beautiful area of Munich that I have not explored before so that was nice.

Not only is Germany famous for "Breakfast-Beer", it is is also famous for "Children's Breakfast-Beer". YAHOO! What potentially happy, inebriated youngsters - or am I "way-off" on that? Now I have nothing against underage inebriation. Lord knows that I did it myself: a lot: Maybe more than A LOT. But "Kriek Bier" ("Cherry Beer") is quite a nasty trick for kids. Kind of like fruit flavored vapes in the USA... Whoops! Anyway, this is an awesome breakfast place, for German or more western morning treats. They have stunning smoked salmon, excellent eggs made in every way, killer German apple-pancakes, and "Zupper-Gut" baked goods (like homemade chocolate Brotchen) that will make you cry with morning joy. I just recommend that if you do have a kid with you - get them Fu-king Drunk. Afterall, it is legal in Germany, and a drunk kid is friggin' hilarious.

I walk by here everyday with the dog so I decided to stop in and check it out. The interior is minimalist and clean. The ceiling is decked with tons of small lights and the furniture is simple but cosy. The menu here is relatively small and there are some paninis, breakfast mueslis and cakes. There might be an odd thing or two besides those to eat. They have a good drinks list including homemade drinks and coffee. Everything here is organic and portions are small but tasty. The coffee here is excellent. Stronger than most places and full of flavour. I loved the cappuccino I had here and reminded me of coffee in Sydney or Melbourne. It was intense, tasty and satisfying. I had a toasted panini and that was also very nice. The owner is very friendly and quick. I will definitely be back here. There are a couple of tables outside and the area is very quite and peaceful. A lovely new addition to the Schwabing coffee scene :-))

I had a gorgeous-looking croissant served with a solid portion of raspberry preserves. -loved the preserves. The hubs ordered the Deftig, a small platter of toast, meat and cheese. The toast, thick-cut and toasty on the outside, soft and malleable just under the surface, was served with a hunk of fridge-cold butter. The result by spreading was a torn mess of bread decorated with clumps of butter. Meh. (The place has actually been open since Nov. 2013, btw.) The brie was OK; the cold cuts flavorful. I enjoyed the carrot-ginger-apple juice, but, as a HUGE carrot juice fan, really would have preferred it sans apple as the combo just tastes like a watery carrot-ginger juice. The juice serving is fairly modest and the price less so. The hubs ordered a cappuccino that was too hot and, sez hubs, the milk wasn't nicely integrated into the espresso. There was also mention of the capp not having 'microfoam'. Anyway, if you want a killer bevvie, then go on up the street to Necado before or after a visit here. You will NOT be disappointed. Upon arriving, we were not sure if one were to order at the counter or at the table. As we sat perusing the menu, a friendly server came to take our order. Easy-peasy. The place is almost small enough to ask the staff behind the counter for the bill without them having to come over or without one having to leave one's seat. As we were attempting to pay, the folk behind the counter were busy doing something just beyond eye-contact range. I got up to ask for the bill and was quoted the price at counter. Wallet fetched and bill paid. Easy. Based on that experience I would think that ordering/paying at t.S. is fairly chill, so, really, do what you like in terms of that. One can also sit at the window--sort of on a very wide sill--at quite short-legged tables resembling almost lil' foot stools. One faces the table while one's lower half faces a quarter turn the other direction. -all well and good for somewhat physically flexible folk, but for the hubs, who has back problems, it was not a good spot. Attracted to the interior, I would like to return and, maybe, try another type of beverage and another nibble and hope for the best! PS: tagescafé Schwabing doesn't have a website, but instead a Facebook page to which they post their daily menu. Check it: https://www.facebook.com/pages/tagescaf%C3%A9-Schwabing/224692437694004
