We were looking for somewhere for breakfast around the museums we planned to go to while in Munich and found Mr. Pancake, a small American-themed restaurant not far from Königsplatz. We are visiting from the USA and wanted an American breakfast. These pancakes were the best I've ever had. I am obsessed now about trying to make my own pancakes that taste this good. I wish I could have asked her how she makes them. The place is tiny! Tiny tables and mix-matched chairs, and the stove is right there in the room! You can watch her make your breakfast. The menu is posted. No variations that I saw. Eggs were over medium cooked in butter-yum! There were about 6 strips of bacon, a bit undercooked for my taste, but I like overcooked bacon. My husband thought the sausage would be like an American breakfast sausage, but it was a German hot dog tasting sausage. Not sure what the hell is going on with the service here. We sat there for 15 mins and had to ask the waitress to take our order. She didn't bring drinks or ask if we wanted any. So I'm not sure why they even deserve ANY stars in this review. If you're going to cater to American tourists, you need wayyy better wait staff and service. They don't even know what you ordered when you ask to pay. You have to tell them your order again. I'd give 6 stars if possible. This was, hands down, one of the most delicious breakfasts we've had in Munich by far. And, as Americans, I can say...honestly better than a traditional American version of this breakfast. We ordered the Mr. Bacon (3 pancakes with real maple syrup, 4 strips of bacon, and two over medium eggs), the Mr. Cherry (3 pancakes topped with vanilla sauce and cooked cherries) with bacon and eggs added, and two Americano coffees. Firstly, the pancakes were fluffy and sweet...perfectly made. We live in New England, so we know good maple syrup..we're kind of snobs about it. That maple syrup was incredible. AND it was served warm, which was even better. The pancakes with vanilla sauce and cherries were worth the up-charge. The cherries were tart and sweet and the vanilla sauce added such a nice mild smoothness to the whole thing. Loved every bite. Now, you're going to think I'm crazy, but the BACON...seriously tasted better than bacon in the States. It's not cooked crispy over here, like we do in the US. But the actual flavor of the meat was something different altogether. I was definitely "mmm-ing" as I stuffed my face. And, of course, the eggs. I don't think I've ever had a perfectly cooked..I'd rephrase- appropriately made- over medium egg until I came to Munich. I only ever order over medium eggs and they always come back too cooked (egg yolk cooked through). These eggs were perfectly over medium and I didn't even have to order them that way. The coffee is strong, which after a lot of weak and watery coffee in Munich, I wasn't complaining. Overall, LOVED every bite. Very reasonably priced. Would visit again in a heartbeat. I hesitated between 2 and 3 but i decided to be nice. Why only 3? First, with a second thought, i think 10€50 is pretty expensive for 3 pancakes , 2 eggs and 4 stripes of bacon. Without even a juice or a coffee included. + My eggs were too cooked. Then, it was raining outside and we were queeing under the rain (ok thats not their fault) but no one in the staf came just to say hello, to apalogize for the Line, to communicate the time left of waiting... And people were litterally cutting the line. The staff didn't care. Maybe they consider that it's not their job but for me it's part of the customer satisfaction. Sooo, not a good experience. I don't have too much to say about this, it was just a nice, solid pancake experience. I'll try and upload my photos later (ate here last week but just now getting to the review) I got the Mr. Pancake which was just a set of 3 pancakes, eggs, and bacon. Very straightforward. The pancakes were especially fluffy, but nothing else was particularly stand out about it. Syrup and bacon were all well-prepared. They didn't have a ton of options and nothing was too creative or outside of the ordinary. For me the real downside was seating and shade. I ate by myself and at about 3 in the afternoon, yet there was only one open table outside. It was directly in the the sun, with no umbrella or shade. Then it took about 15 minutes to get food (which is pretty standard so I'm not bothered about that), but combined with the heat it just wasn't the most pleasant of experiences. So yeah, good food, bad environment. Probably good to show up to early in the morning. read more

I ordered a mr cinnamon apple pancake with sausage and fried eggs and honestly was not satisfied the food was mediocre and the building was small. My wife and I stood at the door to be told where to sit and after 15mims of just standing there we where told it's a sit anywhere and order at the register place. They claim to serve an American breakfast but they don't even scramble eggs so I have no idea what they think is an American breakfast.
