    The American Breakfast!
    Allison P.

Oh how I was excited for a trip home. I left for the US in two days and a date suggested we go here for breakfast. Ignoring the pouring rain, the fact he was 25 minutes late (not all Germans are punctual) and that the date wasn't very good, I still left happy. Why? The American Breakfast. One would think after a year in London where I quickly learned anything titled 'American' on a menu was bullcrud. It must have been the excitement of my upcoming trip that had me in the moon to make such a potentially catastrophic error for the millionth time. But oh did Cafe Puck RISE TO THE OCCASION. The pancakes were pretty darn good! Could be on par with lots of diners in the US. And my plate even had some fruit (always extra in the US). My coffee was also nice. So yeah, the date stunk but I found a place to eat and one I recommend without hesitation.

Lively Cafe in Turkenstr. We had breakfast and salat. Both came quite fast as were delicious. Recommended for a Sunday afternoon chill.

We needed to have a base of a hearty breakfast to get through these first cold mornings in Munich.

We got the breakfast for two which was more than enough food, could have honestly served 3 people. Service was relatively quick and the waiters were very nice. I recommend reserving a table as it was full when we got there and we wouldn't have been able to get a table if we hadn't reserved ahead of time. Overall great authentic German meat & cheese breakfast and I would definitely go again.

Case in point, their burgers are named after two of the most esteemed Olympians, Wim Ruska and Mark Spitz, and their logo is of the Olympiapark. Enough dry facts...onto the review. We came for brunch on a Sunday afternoon as a group of 7 and managed to get a table outside quite easily. Service was decent and quick, and ordering was easy (for breakfast items, one can fill out a menu sheet). We tried all three of their burgers: Shanes Love (vegan burger), Giant Wim Ruska (cheese burger), and Mark Spitz Wonder (bacon/mushroom cheese burger). The portions were big, and the burgers were tasty. The potato wedges were also a highlight for me; nicely seasoned and not over-fried. My friends ordered the "Veganer Trio" with couscous, avocado salad with soy yogurt dip, etc., and they love the dish, well-seasoned and also a decent portion. We saw the kitchen as it was near the bathroom and have to say it didn't look hygienic. Hopefully, it's just the looks.
